As for 2... (maybe I'm not far enough for that either 😅) so far the ML here is not the typical "born perfect respected by all" ML. He isn't the smartest or strongest and he isn't cold. He is sweet and cute. From what I've seen so far the dude has no authority either and the amount of disrespect his cousins show him is unreal. It's so well done it makes me cringe 😆. I'm really enjoying ZLH's performance here. The character feels very human. But my impression of him might change as I watch more eps.
If you're not into the ML, you might like his cousins... especially Gong Shangjue. For some reason, I have a feeling you will like him. lol.

lol about that killing scene in SOKP, idk how to explain it but it felt very dramatically evil like almost theatrical, which I'm pretty sure is what the director was going for 😆 I guess the dude was having one of his snowy murder hobo episodes so that's probably why? 😂
(Like you) I remember immediately comparing him to Wu Lei's Ling Buyi in LLTG after that and wishing the character showed his unhinged side more like LBY. They both feel a bit like villains instead of the ML. It's kinda unfair to compare the two though... even though there are some similarities, they are different characters. and honestly WL is just on another level when it comes to acting.
The crazy murder hobo tendencies actually put me off XW for a long time, I thought it was a little silly... but that's the script, someone mentioned that in the novel he is always fully in control.
The more I watched SOKP, the more I slowly warmed up to XW. In the end I found myself liking the character so much, his "affliction" and all. He actually became one of my fav drama characters. 😂 This is coming from someone who was 100% team Zhang Zhe at the start, so ZLH's looks is not what won me over. It was the character and the way ZLH portrayed him. I feel like he's got so much potential to grow if he's already putting out this kind of quality acting so early on in his career. I really hope his performance here will live up to your (and everyone's) expectations of PWX!

100% agree. I wouldn't say past life YL was showing his "true colours" ...he is like a totally different person in the present life. as you said, it's all to do with experiences, surroundings and choices, etc. also different people have different breaking points, and trauma affects people in different ways. same goes for XW. I wouldn't say that XW's past life plotting (which ultimately leads to JXN's death) or his snowy murder hobo episodes are his "true colours" either.
kinda glad we didn't see much of past life YL in the drama, tho. maybe if it was given more screentime... it would've been harder to like him in the present life (despite him being a saint the second go around). I actually didn't like YL at the start, because I was judging him by his past life actions. But the more I watched, the more I loved him. I even warmed up to him faster than I did to XW, which is funny because XW is now one of my all time favourite characters. 😅
