Ok, ep 39 & ep 40 - are 2 different ending to the story. Your choice of which one you like better as an ending for the whole drama series. To be honest I prefer the 2nd version as it makes it a better sweet happy ending -- where as ep 39 is more a bitter sweet ending as we don't know when Luo Ge will ever find Liu Shao as a person again.
ep 39 is for the Liu Shao - she dies and so does He Na and Ah Fu lives with the spirit of Luo Ning with him --- and then Luo Ge lives. He tries to find Liu Shao but seems that it's harder for him to find her. Strangely the director only portraits her as the firey bird flying around him but he can't seem to see her/sense her -- hence why they ended up in the desert place again.
ep 40 - Luo Ge dies and so does Ah Fu + Luo Ning (dies once more again protecting who she cares for --- and that's Ah Fu) -- and He Na + Liu Shao lives. Since she lives - she too continues to find Luo Ge (re-incarnation) -- and my guess is that she finally comes across him again - when he taps her on the shoulders in the mortal realm.
But the main focus is that they want to be together forever - even if it may seems to be just dust/spirit light around them/firey bird/reincarnation of themselves. Cause that's what they promise to each other no matter what.
Either way my 2-cents on this drama ending - both episodes made me cry a lot nonstop. Cause both had heartbreaking moments in each of the different versions of the drama/story ending. It seems like an either/or sacrifice -- for one or the other. One lives + one dies. There is no exactly prefect ending unless you count the last second scene of ep 40 then you can kinda count that as a happy ending for the two again (as it's seems like they reunite there in the mortal realm once more).
So everyone has to die EXCEPT A Fu, right? And why they can't kill him or at least punish him for his crimes? Because…

I enjoyed it. Ignored those comments who only criticize the main ML because they never watched the whole drama. Another thing, in China it's in the Top 10 dramas to watch over there based on real ratings ...not these MDL raters who love to criticize ppl's work -- and not even show a single respect for everyone else who put so much time into this whole drama. This is considered a light, fluffy, funny rom-com drama that involves a cat or more. The other leads in the drama are quite interesting too. So, watch it if you want something to make you laugh if you have a tough day at work/school.
I wanted to try this drama as my first chinese one. The story seems cute ans I love cats 😅. But reading the…
Watch it! Disregard other people's comments! It's your choice as to what to watch -- not based on others' opinions. Another thing is on actual real rating websites -- this drama lands in the top 10 categories as the most popular drama to watch in China, etc. So, watch the whole drama and decide if you like it or not.. Don't let others tell you what to watch!
I've watched 18 episodes, so far I'm satisfied with it, even though the FL starts to annoy me. SPOILER ALERTShe's…
well said and agree! it was funny a lot of times and light-rom com. Ignore those ppl who loves to criticize people's hardwork and think it's all trash! How about you (the criticizers) act in a drama -- can you do it?!? If you can't, then keep your mouth shut. Because you have zero respect to all those who acted in this drama and put so much effort in it all from beginning to end! As well as those who directed and produce this drama too!
I really wished that he could be a main lead for once...like actually the 1st main lead in the story. Not second main lead ...etc. He should be given more chances to lead.
I like this drama a lot. Like others say -- I wished they didn't cut out a lot of the more important scenes in the story -- esp the confession scene when she was drunk to the main ML and others too. Either way -- it's a light, fun and fluffy story. We can just ignore those info and take it as it is. No choice.
My 2-cents worth on this drama -- it was a great drama overall and everyone in the cast did well. I will definitely miss these two leads in the story.
While many of you complain that the ML was boring -- it's not true -- he's been helping the main FL many times in the background -- if you watched the drama carefully and not skip around in the drama as a whole.
Two, yes there were many scenes cut - not due to the fact that other leads were buying more screen time but the fact the gov't has it ways of controlling how many episodes are allow to air -- what scenes can be left in or taken out, etc. TBH, the original drama - I am pretty sure had way more episodes than just 40 episodes... but b/c of certain restrictions and having to pass the "approval" airing rounds that they had to face before airing -- this drama lost a lot of important scenes that were supposed to be in the drama but got cut b/c of these ridiculous stupid rules & regulation put into place by the Chinese Gov't. So, what can we do about it, nothing --
I mean it would be great if they had an episode or two to wrap it up even better - but they didn't. So, therefore - quite sad the way the ending ended. I mean I still like it but like everyone said - it was quite rushed overall after all those adjustments due to cut scenes/restricts the drama had to face before airing on-screen for everyone to see.
So, please don't go & criticize the drama or don't give this drama a chance -- I'd say give it a chance and watch it/support them all (the cast members I mean/director/etc.
Can't believe the fact that 2 dramas currently airing at almost the same time -- the FL character names are exactly the same thing -- Lu Wan Wan!! How confusing can't it get?!? Don't they have other names to use besides that??? @.@ -- Double Love 2022 drama and First Love 2022 drama female lead character has same name!! *facepalmed*
The drama is good -- but I honestly don't like cliffhanging endings...so his "Master" has returned and in the process of the return back to Lord Qian Sui, he captures his wife and makes him sad b/c of it. Seriously...wished they give us the full drama rather than 1/2 of it. When will sesaon 2 come out?!?!? @.@ It was fun and humorous drama - but really incomplete!!
This time, does she eventually come back to the real life? not trapped in novel.I've watched season 1 and 2.
She does return back to real life in the last episode -- but that's because the main ML got hurt real bad -- and on the verge of dying and the only way she can save him was to leave him behind -- but in actual fact she doesn't want too. both of them are really reluctant to let go of each other. watching this season made me cried way too much - almost non-stop... wished there were another season for them both. they deserve a happier ending that what they are left at -- which many called it a bittersweet ending -- open ended type of storyline...
omg...I just finished watching this whole series and literally cried in this whole season on/off...I really wished there was a season 4 or even an extra extension to the drama itself -- like another episode where the two would meet and become lovers again the world where she is from (aka the real world). but then again he sacrificed himself to allow her to live a better life in her own world. They did sorta of meet at the end but I feel it's not enough. Cried while watched the ending...she did smile - as it looks like she got to meet him in real life ... but they did not connect enough to make me smile again. oh how I wished there were more of them too. such a sweet drama all-in-all. Really want more of these 2 together.
