I really love this Drama so much almost everything is good about it, but after I finished it I realized that I…
As for Joon Sang, i always kinda felt like he was not mourning Hyena (although he did feel remorse because of her) but her mother. I didnt really understand how he felt about her/their story wasnt really explored but considering she was his first real love and there was some pressure from his mother/SuhJin to stop dating her, there might have been still some feelings for her and Hyena was just a symbol for it...
Agreeeeee. I don’t mind darker themes but I cannot stand when things like rape get romanticized, and if memory…
Like honestly?? We have plenty of blushing-virgin cute romance type of stories. I wouldnt mind watching some dark themes - gays can also experience a tragedy. But i bet it will either really romanticize every problematic thing, make a joke of it or really water down the original story
whoa MDL users really loved The Smile Has Left Your Eyes huh.. I watched first two episodes right when they aired and then real life got in the way. I should probably get to it now
also, and i'm not trying to be rude, but i feel like some people are missing what satire / satirical comedy (and…
Personally i feel like professor Cha was the worst written character in the drama. He didnt deserve the redemption arc he was given, his wrongdoings were not explored at all and despite the fact that so many people told him he was out of place repeatedly he reflected upon his acts only when he was alone, "isolated" from gossip-ish information and hungry - so basically he reflected only because he regretted the situation he was in. Some time ago i wrote here a rant about how Ye Suh's mother was truly a terrible human being - almost to the very end she never reflected on her acts and when she did so it was because she regretted the consequences of the act, not the act itself. She in the end showed some remorse, character development and willingness to change her ways (although i still hate her lol) but professor Cha didnt even get to the point of remorse and rather than him trying to change his ways it seemed he was "going with the flow" or pushed by other but he wasnt taking it to his heart.
Somehow i feel like creators wanted to make a "tragi-comic" figure out of him which is okay but they should have given him some development. Jin Jin and her husband had similar "comedic" function in the stor yet they managed to be more complex characters than professor Cha who had like 2 character traits and never showed much complexity. It could be argued that maybe it was the actor's fault- that is - i think his acting was great but if were character of professor Cha played by someone of larger statute/rougher looking yet sharp man, the abuse would be more visible.
I think it is also simply possible that they forgot/didnt have time to deal with his/Seung Hye's divorce properly and so they were like "you know what? just let them get back together"
hahah while I dont agree with you on the Seung Hye thing (i feel like she/her kids definitely deserved this newfound…
Yeah i dont actually have an issue with him getting a gap year because he did indeed go though traumatic experience but I am suuper annoyed with how it was presented in the show. He said something like "i realized in jail school is useless, happiness is the most important so i'm dropping out" and his parents were like "okay, we support you, reconsider that though. Why not simply not going to school of a few months?" on which he reacted "nope, dropping out. bye" which is like.. ridiculous..
okay so... you can call me stupid but can someone explain me the thing with so much camera focus on peoples hands? I tried really hard but outside of few singular examples i found it pretty redundant lol
I rated this 9/10 but I simply can never sympathize with Seunghye. Education is important, she should not tolerate…
hahah while I dont agree with you on the Seung Hye thing (i feel like she/her kids definitely deserved this newfound freedom) i totally agree with you on one thing. When WooJoo decided to drop out of school i had to laugh - his 'monologue' sounded like something only a naiive rich kid would say. Noone from poor/middle class family could afford dropping out of school in such matter. Not going to university? Thats okay, university is not easy if you dont want to go there and it is not good to force yourself/your child to do something only because someone elses' expectations... but not finishing high school makes it really hard for your future self and there are things you just have to overcome simply because they are necessary and it really makes me worried about the "message" that is relayed to the younger audience. imo this particular thing was not very well thought out which is sad because they could do it better.

Honestly i think that people simply expect something different when they see tags like "satire" and "comedy" . they expect the funny kind of satire like maybe The Simpsons or Gulliver's Travels.
However, the fact is there is also a 'serious' kind of satire (called Juvenalian satire) which houses titles like Lord of The Flies, Fahrenheit 451 or A Clockwork Orange and I feel like SKY Castle is more similar in its satire to these titles.
For me the "black comedy" and "satirical" elements of this drama werent much connected and i kinda understand why are people really confused when they try this drama
They sure wrapped it up nicely, but the last episode feels like it wasn't "SKY Castle" because it was very strange…
the last episode was something we all secretly kinda wanted but at the same time we didnt lol. It all felt so Un-sky castle-like. I dont understand why literally everyone got their own redemption arc when the whole drama was keeping it very real in many ways but i guess the writer felt suddenly under a lot of pressure. The whole episode felt like some kind of dream sequence after which main character usually wakes up and realizes everything is actually shit
I'm about a quarter of the way through episode 7. This isn't really grabbing me like everyone's talking about.…
well it depends on what you dont like in the drama. I liked the begining but i didnt really felt the need to binge watch it (and tbh i dont really feel same when people say how addicting the drama is) - the story feels to me for the most of the time very "circular" only the circle gets bigger everytime with subplots etc but eventually the characters get back to making the same decisions/mistakes they've already done which is really frustrating. After episode 10 or so it starts getting more intense and since episode 15 its like.. suuper good so i'd say it is worth watching a bit more.
jTBC has exclusive rights for some football comptetition and Korean team advanced to another round. On friday they play against Quatar and the match is scheduled during the time the show is usually aired
About what is this actually? I read the plot, but I want background about the characters.
honestly the synopsis sums it up well. Basically about how rich and educated people pressure their children into getting into top level universities against their will. It points at their (parents') selfishness and twistedness. there are way too many characters to describe them but there is really great and complex manipulative villain and main characters are all mothers of the children. Almost all characters are in this morally gray area, neither good nor bad which makes the drama very interesting
seunghye is the only woman i can trust in this drama honestly (and sometimes jinhee when she's influenced by the…
honestly, I still cannot believe there are people who label Sue Lim as nosy in negative way. She was literally trying to uncover systematic child abuse, manipulation on coach Kim side and selfish problematic society. None of this was happening in her family, yes, but if she minded her own business while she realized what is happening, wouldnt it be even worse? Child abuse is mostly uncovered by "nosy" people who notice things and they act. Also - Young Jae himself approved of her writing his story and she was right about coach Kim being dangerous.

Episode 19 is going to be postponed and will air a day later (on saturday) and Ep 20 (Finale) is going to be aired a week later.
Seems like we will have to wait for the final conclusion, my fellow fans :(
