Oh yea the synopsis and the early hype were misleading, I agree. Maybe got lost in translation. Anywho, the quality of the show itself made up for it, perfectly.
Out of all the ongoing dramas I'm watching right now this one pulled me in and was the one I completed while all…
You can see the VR setting as the psyche or the inner mind of the ML. That place was his solace where he could be himself, until one day the FL barged in ..rocked his world. The closer he got to her, the lesser the VR/inner mind scenario played out. He met her there, found out that the FL had been struggling with her feelings when she went on a faux Qin killing spree, declared his love there with the wild CCTV captured kiss and when the world came crashing down on him, the FL came back to him in that place as well. And of course, the end credit scene as a tribute, a completely new brighter psyche where the person who became his strength and partner, greets him.
I dropped this after 5 episodes. I'm a bit sad since I was excited for this after seeing a clip of the couple.…
It is a modern Cdrama with all the usual tropes but, those are done right, unlike the unrealistic cringe ones we are used to seeing most of the time. From the start till end the show keeps its focus on the main leads and does not pivot off to other nonsense.
every time Zhuang Xu appears on screen I get depressed! 😂 so I fast forward most of his screen time 🤣
Well, he was depressed the whole time, makes sense to be the same for viewers as well. I wouldn't fast forward his scenes though, unless it's a second run. His doom and gloom is the major catalyst for the primary romance.
1. I found the ending for the secondary male protagonist sad, but he brought it on himself. I will learn from…
Budget, I guess. The worst thing was the Shuangyuan Photovoltaic sign in front of their office lobby ..that shit was made using MS Paint and rendered with a toaster.
i know the ML is popular but i cant seem to like him. SML is better for me. up until the very end, i want the…
He would have, if he wasn't a helmet. His provocation, insecurity and the general Stevie Wonder vision were the biggest catalysts for the FL to end up with the ML lol
seriously! she was the worst written character! i understand she didn’t know but still, she was with a murderer…
I thought she was very well written, they wanted to show us a flawed human, and we got to see exactly that. Poorly written means nonsensical. There's nothing nonsense about her character. There are plenty of bad parents around.
It's a lovely cozy drama. I get the high rating because despite a rather simple story, the show explores human nature, emotions, flaws, society and how people deal with each and every one of them in a very realistic manner, resonated with many viewers. One of the very few modern Cdramas which captured all of these with profound realism.
We all have seen these tropes, these people and dynamics before but very rarely coherent and well done. Felt almost every emotion that they wanted to convey.
Kudos to the actors and staff who managed to do that.
I liked this drama a lot.. but a wedding or even any hint would've been really nice ;-; i mean that's the specialty…
I don't mind that there was no wedding, as the FL pointed out a few times about it. Also, twice engagement-wedding trauma so.. it's a good thing that the writers did not do that for the couple endgame.
The ML's mother is so cringy. She abandoned her son, f@cked the enermy who framed and killed her husband for 20…
Poorly created, nah. Realistic ? Very much so. Not all parents are great. It elevates the ML because he didn't turn out to be a sociopath or consumed totally by revenge given the upbringing he had. He distanced himself from the madness. It also shows how a person would turn out from that environment, the second male lead.
I'm so tired of this story, when the girl finds that ML father was involved in a accident and broke up. WTF HAS…
That's the point, and realism (Chinese culture) of a mature drama. Long term pain boiling up, bursting out and people dealing with them as they move forward instead of sugarcoating everything. Not every relationship has all nice flowing moments.
People can say things, terrible things when they are in extreme shock and sadness, which they often don't mean and take them back soon after, like the FL did in the drama. Sure, they are hurtful but If you hold a grudge against people you supposedly love for such words, life will be very miserable.
Who are these many people exactly ? I mean, even with actual binding by law 'divorce' or 'annulment', people can…
I'm pretty sure the ML knows. As viewers, we are to perceive her actions as flawed but also, understandable. That she is willing to let go of her love for her parents. Even though the willingness is the key part here, clearly there's no way that she could let go. No normal person can.
As for the filial duties, it is something very Chinese. Sometimes hit us like a truck. In that society, filial duties are just as big as the concept of sins of the father.

Well, given that the sheer amount of pain that she was in after the breakup, not a bit of love faded. But she did that as an auto response to her filial duties, for some unreasonable parents.
