yeah, western dramas can be much more sexual, but i guess it's a bit shocking for a drama like this to be made in a conservative country like korea. my biggest problem is the original webtoon and the character that's the male lead's friend. i do like kyj and jcw's performances so far, but the whole idea of the drama is just a bit...

yeah i think so too actually, they probably put all those risky things in it to make people talk about it and they could get publicity from that. now i'm just wondering if they're going to reduce the level of sexual undertones and the problematic stuff, or try to stick with it.
About to start watching this drama, and I'm lost. Can someone tell me the problematic things about it? I'm curious.
1) a high schooler kissed a much older adult man who's also drunk 2) there is a character that's doing blackface/cultural appropriation and also seems pretty perverted based on how the drama portrays him 3) apparently this is aired at the prime time for dramas and despite it being 15+ the first ep had a scene of an erotic manhwa being drawn (there were drawings of female bodies seen as well), a prostitute, younger female characters are shot in weird ways, there was also a scene where it was implied that the male lead would get laid and he got .. excited by it, if you can call it that 4) most importantly, this is based on a webtoon that's very sexualized and vulgar, and many are wondering how did it even get to be made into a drama (look up Mr_Morningstar's comment below for the link)
some of the stuff might not seem that awful for someone who's used to watching a lot of western dramas, but this is korea we're talking about and you can't not get concerned by such content especially if you know about their culture and situations in the society
i made a too long of a post for my friends feed about my thoughts on ep1, so here is the summary of it: 1. after hearing things about the webtoon, i was worried that they would oversexualize this drama... and i guess my worries were in the right place bc things were quite out there, i couldn't not notice some of the weird angles in which they shot the younger female characters, AND the scene introducing the webtoon writer made me SUPER uncomfortable. 2. i already want the webtoon writer character gone bc i don't care about his culture appropriating orange perv @ss (excuse my language),,, + some one PLEASE teach Korea to stop calling everything black culture related "reggae" 3. the fight scenes were ridiculous in a very bad way. i hope that's the last of them bc they were unnecessary and not funny. 4. i don't really understand how they managed to cast actors like ji changwook and kim yoojung for something so.... 5. jcw seems to be back in his natural element (which was missing in melting me), and his character is definitely the funniest and best part for me so far (yes, i am also biased) 6. i didn't like the whole minor flirting with a grown drunk man thing, but i do like the grown up saetbyul's confidence 7. it's nice that they turned the cliche of "good-looking, confident male lead makes the clumsy female lead flustered" completely around 8. i am concerned about this drama's creators' lack of understanding about consent.
JCW needs to find a good manager to help guide him towards selecting better projects. This isn’t it. I hope…
or a sageuk... it would be amazing if he did another sageuk :/ in my eyes, yeah, he CAN do comedy, but he shines the brightest in more emotional and darker roles.
i just realized they completely forgot about the thing that the world was slowing down?? if time stopped each time the gate was opened, an apocalypse (of the world becoming frozen forever) should have happened the first time lee geon went back in time and tried to return to 2020.
ok i hated joonyoung this whole time but now i just really pity him. first, he saw his dad kiss another woman. then he saw his parents grow apart. then he saw how badly his dad beat up his mom and had to go through their divorce that came next (as well as see his dad get a criminal record for hurting his mom). then he had to listen to all kinds of rumors about his mom/family, experience being manipulated, and after all that he saw his mom and dad sleeping together again, even though they had shown their worst sides to each other already. and you still dont think he's been traumatized enough for that to explain his attitude and kleptomania? he even sees nightmares about his mom laying on the floor all bloody. i cant excuse him acting like a spoiled brat towards his mom when she's tried to be good for him, but i think that's his way of trying to help her live a better life -- by pushing her away. yes, it's messed up and he is hurting her, but he clearly feels guilty for everything, especially his mom being where she's at rn. he has no one to talk about his feelings with bc the adults around him are crazy and/or manipulative. at this point i cant hate him, i feel bad for him and really hope he gets professional help to heal his trauma (since he's not meeting up with yoonki anymore). p.s. how can any of y'all comment on what experience is or isn't bad enough to cause trauma? everyone reacts to life events like this differently. don't forget that joonyoung is still a child .
I love her character so much, even though I'm apparently the only one, lol. She's so awkward and weird and goofy…
no, i totally get what you mean! i did really like her character. even though she was very innocent and naive for her age, she was a very genuine and warm person. she did get a slight makeover, but i'm glad it was never portrayed in a way where she NEEDS to change to be successful and loved. instead i interpreted it as a natural change that happens overtime as you get older and perhaps more confident. :')

oops, this still came out long .__.
i was so happy that hari turned around and went back to yisang at the end omg TT.TT
also, i think the appearance of luna will make this drama more interesting!
