The story is about love and loving the other person in sadness, because -- what is hard about loving each other in happiness? Though, as beautiful as Yoon Mari and Seo Jungwon's love story was, I think that romance was not the strong point of this drama. The strongest -- and most interesting point -- was Mari's battle against Kang Inwook. Kang Inwook was a seriously messed up man (props to Ryu Sooyoung for his acting; definitely the highlight of the drama!), and I am glad that Mari gained enough courage and strength to stand against him.
Overall, this was a very good melodrama. The pace did get too slow in the middle, but it picked back up towards the end, so I ended it with a pleased heart. This is also a very beautiful drama visually because of the gorgeous cinematography, and I appreciated the aesthetic and symbolism of flowers they used heavily throughout the drama. If you're looking for a(n artsy) melodrama to watch, maybe try this one out! :)
Loved this drama. A good combination of genres with fun comedic moments, suspenseful and compelling mystery, and interesting relationships between the characters. None of the leads were very experienced but I think all four of them did a great job, especially Kim Kwon. I thoroughly enjoyed it from the beginning until the end, so 10/10 would recommend!
Certainly an entertaining drama. The research about vampires is the drama's main focus and, while I appreciated them doing it from a scientific point of view, I feel like they sometimes focused on it too much. That's why I found many characters kinda shallow; it felt like they didn't even get screentime to have themselves be shaped into personalities. The ending.. could have been better, but not thinking about it too hard, I can probably guess what happened.
Beautiful story; I loved Yehua + Bai Qian so much. ;-; I totally get why this drama is so popular,, even though I didn't expect much when starting it (it's my first Chinese historical drama), I ended up loving it. Just a heads up: if you don't knowledge on Taoism and the Chinese mythology / beliefs, I would recommend paying attention to comments and explanations. If you won't understand the religious aspects of it, you might not be able to understand the story!
P.S. I want a man who will love me as much as Yehua loves his QianQian. :')
Same. I love most of the Reply Series but was so annoyed by the lead female character in Reply 1997, I couldn't…
I actually think that the Reply series aren't quite my thing because I couldn't get into Reply 1988, and I didn't enjoy Reply 1997 that much... :D But yeah, the leading female character was my main problem with it; the main couple would've been adorable af, but the girl was just a rude, spoiled brat... I finished the drama with the thought that the male lead deserved (much!!!) better.
Oh, I couldn't fully get into Reply 1997 because of the female lead (character, not the actress), I found her super annoying and hated how she treated the male lead. ;D
But out of the dramas mentioned I would definitely recommend Lucky Romance, it was really fun to watch, the OTP was adorable and the male lead character is one of the best I have seen! (I haven't watched the others yet, though I have Marriage Contract on my PTW list.)
Great article! I haven't seen Cunning Single Lady, but I did watch the other two and I agree with all that you said. People are definitely too picky when it comes to female characters but will ignore the male characters' flaws, so I'm glad you made this article to talk about it.
All the leads nailed their roles. Kyungsoo is freaking incredible and I'm proud that he could prove it once again.
This is a war movie, so one can expect certain things when going into it;; I'll just say this is not a fairytale. This is a story about people's passion and how ideology, politics and war affect it. Swing Kids is definitely a movie that will make you think. Don't start this if you can't watch heavy movies. But definitely watch it if it isn't so, you'll certainly take something good out of it, be it some insight in the history of Korean war, a reminder on how beautiful friendship can be, or a realization of how incredible one's talent is.
I personally loved this drama, one of my favorites of Winter 2018-2019. The characters were awesome, the leads were amazing, and the plot was a perfect combination of romance + mystery + comedy. I enjoyed this so much that when I was at one of the last episodes, I thought that I could easily watch 10+ episodes more of it. I found it so well-rounded in all aspects that I didn't even notice how quickly it went by! 10/10 would recommend!!
I wouldn't call this drama a masterpiece, but it was definitely very fun to watch and it is way too unknown for its quality, I think. Most of all, I appreciated the fact that there was a strong, independent female lead who made her own decisions. I think there were several female empowerment messages they tried to say, which I didn't expect from a 2012 drama, but I appreciated it a lot. And if you're looking for a nice romantic comedy, I would recommend you to give this one a try!
Personally, this drama disappointed me and I think it's very overrated. (And I say this as a person who LOVES rom-coms.) Yeah, the couple had great chemistry and it was fun in a way (until one point at least), most of the actors did well, the investigation was pretty interesting. My problem with TYH -- it seemed way too shallow and got too draggy towards the end. Some parts of it seemed too forced, several characters had no depth and were just "there". The plot was too simple for it to be a 16 episode drama which made it boring... I am actually surprised at how many positive reviews it is getting.
i really hope that joo haera steps over herself and helps mari, at least as a fellow woman. especially since she's starting to realize how terrifying of a man is kang inwook.
Yoo Yeoreum is such a useless character. She hasn't done anything mention-worthy in these 10 episodes and her screentime keeps getting shorter and shorter. It's like she is only there to have that connection with Kim Sewon (who isn't a very deep character himself).
Mistress is one of the best dramas I have seen, the mystery and suspense were crazy!! Yet not many have even heard of the drama, not to mention giving it the recognition it deserves...
