in the press conference, CJH and JNR said that the script was so interesting they had to read it in one go and couldn't put it down... my expectations are rising, i hope this will be good. TT
This drama is officially the biggest disappointment of 2018, and just in case you're wondering whether to watch this, I will say one thing: don't.
I honestly can't remember any other drama that made me *this* frustrated. I ended up wasting 16 hours of my life (of which only the first half? were good). The writing was TERRIBLE, and I don't know when have I ever hated the main female lead character as much as in this drama.
And it's not even her being selfish, ignorant to her closest people's feelings, and constantly playing the victim. There were huge and weird inconstistencies all through out the drama. Spoiler alert: remembering someone as your big first love for 7 years even though you dated for A DAY, changing from a f*ckboy to a lovesick puppy in one night just because someone let's you know how big of a jerk you are, not visiting your best friend in the hospital when she needs you the most... And that's just a few that come into my mind.
I wanted to enjoy this for Seo Kangjoon, and his performance really was great but he couldn't save this awful thing. Another thing I *did* like in this drama is how they managed to completely change their way of filming according to the years they went through.
Other than that... Please stay away from this drama. Unless you want to rage for like 10 hours straight (because unfortunately the beginning of it was good).
I watched this drama until the end and enjoyed it a lot. The characters and the cinematography were my favorite things about it. It was a pity that the plot slowed down towards the last few episodes, but i still think it's a great and very unique drama. I wish it could get more appreciation!
It's quite a rare case, but at this point I don't want Joonyoung and Youngjae to end up together... He deserves so much better. I'm actually starting to hope that Joonyoung could have a happy relationship with the female police officer.
The first three words I would like to start with: SUNGJOONG DESERVED BETTER.
He was seriously the best character in the drama, so selfless and kind, and he didn't really get anything for it, other than having the woman he loves drag him around...
Speaking of the woman, I did quite like Song Jihyo's performance in this drama, and I like the character growth she experienced. Having her go from hiding her face behind hair to being a confident woman that can say no to a man and do her own thing was awesome.
Speaking of *the* man... He is the main reason for my low rating of 5.5. This was my first drama with Park Shihoo and now I kinda don't want to watch anything else with him (which is bad news because Princess' Man is still on my PTW list). This actor should stop do romantic AND comedy dramas, because he can't even pull off the "I'm in love" look, not to even mention the kisses... I would even say, I prefer the typical kdrama dead fish kisses over the "passionate" ones Eulsoon and Phillip shared, because I was thoroughly uncomfortable watching & felt bad for Song Jihyo for having to work with that. Oh and Yoo Phillip was a dumb, egoistic and selfish character, and I don't even see where his feelings came from. (Same for Oh Eulsoon on the feelings part.)
I also thought that the quality of comedy got worse as the drama continued. The drama itself lost its charm, and the aegyo scenes from the 30+ year old leads were just... awful.
I did like the drama's mystery though, it was intriguing and was the main reason I did not drop this. However, even that failed to save the drama overall, and I ended up simply skipping through the last two hours worth of episodes.
(tagging it as spoiler because it is a too long of a comment XD)
was i the only one annoyed that they played it out as if something big had been between them during college, so they missed & thought about each other for 7 years, but it turns out they dated only for a couple of hours back then!??
There are so many things they left unanswered. Did Mirae's friend end up dating the Wooyoung? Did the parents…
I think they strongly implied that Hyunjung would end up with Wooyoung in the future, and Kyungsuk's parents won't get their previous relationship back, since he obviously doesn't care about her enough (he didn't even know her age lol).
This drama now holds a very dear place in my heart. I absolutely loved it from the start until the end.
South Korea doesn't have many dramas that raise topics of self-esteem, happiness, beauty's role in society and spreads empowering messages for women. But this one did all of that, and I want to praise it for this exact reason.
Not to mention how the drama really made me fond of the characters; I laughed and cried together with Mirae, Kyungsuk, their families and friends.
All actors nailed their roles, making this an incredibly enjoyable 16 hour long journey, of which I don't regret even a minute.
100/10 I recommend this drama, because it is a gem that needs to be appreciated for the themes it discusses and how heartwarming it is. ♡
Agree, it's a drama to drop. My friends liked it + I had seen numerous great reviews, but... It's was quite awful. Really forced myself to finish it, it was super boring, and the romance was TOXIC. Not to mention how it came from nowhere, like, when was the point they fell in love? It makes no sense! The female lead was scared of him, and he abused her emotionally and even sexually, so. No. The romance part of this was bullsh*t. Don't waste 16 hours of your life on this.
Even though I love Luhan and this drama actually had an awesome start, I ended up dropping it at episode 30. All the "plot twists" were super predictable and the drama got super draggy after the main couple got together. I pretty much know (can guess) how it ends, so there isn't any motivation in me to watch the last 7 episodes.
