its going to air next week. as for the story, i saw this comment on youtube:
28-01-2026 is the release date. Not season 2, but a side story about the reappearance of the legendary Tianzhan sword with Lin Ze Hui as Wei Gui and Cai Zhengjie as Lei Lingze.
i wonder, did they have to get a special license or something similar, to be allowed to have and air 48 episodes in a row?
is it because this is a "real" historical drama, and not some romance action drama, in a pseudo historical setting? that they are allowed to have more eps than the usual 40? or has that cap being lifted?
just curious! i know none of the actors, but the trailer looks good. if the story and directing is convincing enough, I hope this will work for me!
damn, i acutally was planning to watch this, after blood river, and falling for chang huasen, but not even for him, will i endure a sucking OE ...damn.
so nearly exactly 2 month, and i have been unable to move on from blood river. despite many pretty dramas have been aired.
if there are any fellow addicts are still here and reading, I was wondering, coz I am rewatching: when did the patriarch mu mingce even learned, that muyu was already cured by the poison he had to take, when taking up the position of Lord Kui?
i am pretty sure, in the novel, that must have been talked about at one point.
however in the drama, I am at ep 09 or 10, their final meeting, and I cannot for hell remember, was there like any revelation scene in the previous eps? or was it just like brushing over, and muyu just said, btw, I am cured, while changhe just looking indignant, like WTF, why were you poisoned and I didn't know about that?? he looked ready of course, to kill mingce on spot , lol.
any help for clarification would be great! thanks!
Seems like adopted siblings love is taking over China
its the closest thing, i guess, where you can get to play with the hot sibling incest vibe taboo, without breaking the taboo due to moral and censorship?
i am just hoping for summer 2026 i mean, if they finished this week, and then there is post production, and then there is waiting for approval by the bureau , i assume its at least 6 month?
It's truly very emotional patriotic drama... while watching as if I am also present there as well and can feel…
actually, i was wondering for a couple of years now: why does india not produce tv dramas? i mean, i guess, everyone either knows of bollywood movies or at least , heard of them. this means, you have a production industry for movies. why not use it for television? your country, and the number of your citizens is a huge as china? there must be plenty of audience as well.
i mean, i even saw and heard of televsion dramas made in vietnam! and that country used to be very poor, if they manage to produce tv dramas for the local audience? (the dramas are pretty bad , and are no competition for K-dramas, or C-dramas, or J-dramas, and i am pretty sure, nobody outside of vietnam or some overseas vietnamese will ever watch them, but they exist). why does india not produce TV dramas? or do they exist, but i have never heard of them?
i am probably the only one here, yeah, also for Cheng yi! but simply not just for him.
but damn, the moment I saw the trailer, and saw avenux said, like nearly the whole Old Men cast of Nirvina in Fire is also in this drama? i have been a fan of Wang Jin Song , since NiF! I dearly love seeing him in a similar drama, I hope this will be at least half as good as NiF, then I am already satisfied.
if not? ah well, going back watching sword and beloved! that was visually gorgeous.
i dont care about the story, i like the ML since I saw him as the cousin of that Blossom Drama ML , , He is so cute! don't care if he is overpowered here, or that there is nothing realistic about the story!
If only that was the only nonsensical thing haha. Just go with the flow.
that is totally unfair , i mean, even s-class dramas with million of yuan /dollar/euro budget ocassionally suffer from glaring nonsensical plotholes , with knifes from nowhere , lol, if those dramas can have that, i will endure all plotholes in mini short dramas :P
ok, reading all the comments so far, i am convinced this is a must see! (actually I reserved the weekend for fangs of fortune and longest promise, but whatever, they were on the shelf so long, they can wait another month, lol)
so far very fascinating, i know none of the actors or actresses, but they really made the rather ugly hairstyle of that dynasty looks good on the characters. the landscape is very beautiful, I wish we had that much of snow, the last 2 decades in Germany, unfortunately I do not live in bavaria, so us in Western Germany, we seldom have snow anymore.
when I was young(er), (in the 80/90s) I remember HongKong Chinese television used to produce a whole lot more dramas with that period of time, with that hairstyle. in china nowadays, it doesn't seem to be that favoured, probably because its not the elaborate hairstyle of the fantasy immortals fairy stories. (which I also adore)
🪑seated… I like watching Chinese dramas where the actors still look typically Chinese.… It makes the dramas…
what a fascinating phrasing. can you or are you willing to elaborate, what you mean with "still look typically chinese, it makes the drama more realistic"?
i mean, dont get me wrong, i dont mean to imply anything, just curious.
i usually never expect any dramas from any country to look "typical" of the average ethnic there.
usually, when i watch tv shows or dramas, no matter from the West or the Far East, i usually want to see non typical, non average looking people. meaning, i usually want inhumanly good and beautifuly looking people. (there are exceptions, but usually, that is not the norm with me).
it doesnt matter whether i watch US, german, or british televison shows, or chinese, japanese, hongkong, or korean , or taiwanese dramas, i want beautiful represenations of the people of that country. not "typical" looking people.
what is typical for you?
i want fantasy or illusion in dramas, in movies, on tv shows. not really realism.
if you say, you want typical and realistic, so you want less fantasy?
❤️To future viewers — if you’re hesitating because of the low ratings on MDL, I want to tell you that…
honestly, since i am already much older than the average watcher here? i can absolutely live with them either, being blood brothers, or bromance, or BL, or yeah, kill each other as enemies , if they have fundamental moral discrepancies .
as long as its been told in a great way? sad ending, does not have to be a bad ending.
i remember rougly about 30 years ago or more, there was a hongkong drama. republican era, japanese women, chinese man. impossible love story, both died at the end, killed by their respective superiors , but hey, as a teenager i was like WOW. what a cool ending. that romance didnt romantisice anything, didnt proclaim, love conquers all, and that time was shit, and at that time, hongkong was still free from China censorship? the director and script writers could write stuff like: in war, the japanese did evil things , and the chinese (no matter CP or KMT) did evil things. and among both ethnics, sometimes there were good people and being good didnt help them, they died anyway.
damn, now thinking about it, i dont know if i ever could find that drama again, but i guess, i should try. even if i am sure, its been purged offline and online by cp, coz they wouldnt allow any story, where everyone is evil and good heroes dont win.

or is OE just ambigous?

I am sure, it should also be on kisskh for streaming.
