Jed says he's drunk, or maybe his costar does, but then later he says he was kidding. I suspect the former.

I mean, it's not a huge deal, but if I were the director, I would not be pleased. I understand that drunk acting is hard and many actors do it terribly, but doing it well is called "work," and that's what they are there to do. Any time you're drunk, you are not in control, and that's the opposite of what an actor on set or stage should be.

I read a great little blurb about Robert DeNiro. Some lesser-known actor said he had to act drunk for a scene with DeNiro and asked him if he had any advice. DeNiro said what he does is, just before the scene is shot, spin round and round in one spot for as long as he can, then proceed with the scene while still dizzy. Actor said it worked great. :D

This issue came up with the second (horrible) season of We Best Love, WBL: Fighting Mr. Second. One of the leads had to show up at his costar's character's place and do a long scene as drunk. So...he proceeded to get shit-faced before the scene was shot, and if I remember correctly, the director was OK with that.

I wouldn't have been. And if I were playing opposite him I would have been pissed. The definition of unprofessional.

I'm unimpressed by actors who have to get drunk to do what they should be able to do sober. It's called ACTING.

This insanity is difficult for me to deal with.

I live in the US, where more often than not, a celeb who hits the skids due to addiction, mental illness, and other non-violent offenses is welcomed back into the public sphere after treatment, jail, or whatever. The general vibe is that the public roots for them to overcome and succeed, rather than seeing them tainted for life with no hope of redemption.

Of course, regarding "moral" issues that Korean media loves to foam at the mouth over, such as premarital sex/pregnancy, extramarital affairs, and the like, it will be reported on but generally gets a big yawn from the public. People are always interested in reading trash about celebs, but they don't punish them at the box office or ticket counter or cashiers counter.

And NO ONE gets dragged or canceled for dating or even cohabitating without benefit of marriage, for god's sake. The dating thing is the sickest aspect of toxic fan culture.

Now, there will be exceptions when a celeb does something extra egregious, is violent, or otherwise criminal. Even then, celebs make comebacks after serving time, it depends on the circumstances.

But, in the US, you don't have this sadistic netizen culture in which people take absolute, ecstatic joy in destroying celebrities.

Unbelievable, that ass-backwards concern for "privacy" only applies to the suspect/offender and the same reasoning is not applied to the celebrity during the law enforcement/media "witch hunt" that always erupts when a celeb is accused.
Exhibit A: Lee Sun Kyun, who was driven to suicide by the police and media, while the names of his accusers were kept private.

I live in the US, and I actually agree that suspect's names should not be released until they are CONVICTED of a crime, as opposed to just arrested. It pisses me off when media blares names and pictures of people who are supposedly presumed innocent.

So, are you saying it is acceptable to trash and destroy famous people, often driving them to despair and suicide, by publishing all the dirt thrown at them, including the FALSE dirt, but that when it comes to the people who do the trashing of celebs, they must be protected at all costs?

Public information is public information. Once someone commits a crime or civil offense and their name enters the public record, THEY are a public figure. It's this person's PUBLIC slander of WYB that made them a public figure. What happens to them as a result of their own actions is no one's liability except theirs and whoever harms them, if that's what it comes to.

Any decent reporter should be able to find out easily enough.
