I don't mind tropes so much when they do something amusing or creative with it, like making the hold last for five minutes. I was impressed that the actors were able to hold their gaze so long without blinking or changing expressions. :) So I'm guessing the five-minute hold was a spoof/satire of the trope.

Now we need something truly revolutionary and trope-breaking, like having the muscular one who caught the other guy turn out to be the bottom. :)

I often don't mind the seat belt trope these days when it's done with style, because it is a deliberate tease and assertion of dominance rather than a fake "accident."

Why on Earth is this film, which sounds like exactly my kind of vibe, impossible to find on the Internet with Eng subs, or without for that matter? Meanwhile, thousands of lesser films are available with subs all over the place.

What an excellent cast. Shin Ha Kyun has evolved into my favorite actor, top of my Best 30 list. I think Won Bin would be on that list had he stuck around the industry and made more movies. That said, I'm glad he got out of it at his choice and not before Korea's poisonous celeb-crucifixion culture drove him out or worse.
Kim Hae Sook has long been on my fave actresses list. Always a joy to watch.

Considering the physical beauty of the actors involved, that first sex scene should have been smokin' hot. It was not. Rather the opposite.

No chemistry, terrible acting, so I'm out at 20 minutes. It can only get worse.

Well, if she's really in there, he ought to be more careful than to balance it on a paint can on the floor. :)

I couldn't stop staring at Sei's perfect, dark COINS and the solid/slim chesticles on which they exist. He's gorgeous.

I'm not an expert on asexuality, but it seems like if you lack a sex-drive, as opposed to being revolted by sex (and maybe Fuji is) he could at least watch Sei jack off in front of him to help him get off. Rather, he acts terrified of sex which is why I've been wondering if there's past trauma involved.

Also, and I mentioned this in another comment here, Fuji should have gone a lot further than "I can't give you everything you want in a relationship..." when they moved in together and explained exactly what that would mean and how things would work. And Sei should have asked for clarification when Fuji did not explain.

However, I don't know how long they've been in that arrangement, or how old each was at the time.

I laughed out loud when the "straight" guy was watching Sei at the office, thinking "he looks like he doesn't get laid much" and "he looks like he never thinks about sex..." lol Oh boy, wait til he finds out. :D

Hey, there is a brand-new/airing Taiwanese BL on kisskh called "Impression of Youth." Looks like it's releasing two 25 minutes eps per week and there are two up. So far, it seems light/silly/cute/potentially sexy. Give it a shot.

Episodes 1&2:

I am especially looking forward to the shocking, disgusting, inappropriate, age gap/power imbalance student-teacher relationship becoming a totally hot, nasty, vile, sexual entanglement to burn up the sheets. Also, I'm hopeful we'll see an incestuous, brother-on-brother thing going on at the same time.

Light, a little stupid, but breezy and cheerful potential here. It shows signs of having heart, which can save even the weakest BLs.

The goofy-smiled high school kid is my fave.
Oh, and each character is cuter than the last.
I do believe that was the longest-held slip/fall/catch pose in BL history. :D

I was enthralled up until I was presented with a female actor playing a male actor/female impersonator, which is an insult to my intelligence and status as an audience member. What a cop out. Should have known, since this is a Chinese production.

The only thing I'd quibble on is Fuji possibly not being "intentionally" abusive. He can SEE and hear Sei's anguish and pain, so he is certainly aware of the effects of his rejections; how can he not be aware of his rejections/actions in the first place. Weirdest of all is that he low-key acts jealous of things like Sei texting with someone he doesn't know, as if they are in a romantic relationship in which he has a right to monitor such things.

There is, however, blame to go around regarding the initiation of their relationship. When Fuji said "I want to take care of you but I can't give you everything you want..." (paraphrase) he should have gone on to specify exactly what he means by that. When he did not do so, Sei should have asked what he meant and exactly how that would work.

The mess they are in is a result of fear of communication, a common Japanese problem as no one wants to talk about anything personal or intimate in that society, even in private between two people supposedly in a relationship. There is no reason their arrangement couldn't work for all concerned if it was openly agreed they were living together as close friends/roommates, that Fuji was not interested in sex, and that Sei was free to meet those needs outside the arrangement with someone else.

I don't think that would last long, as Sei clearly wants emotional/romantic fulfillment as well as sex from someone who WANTS to give it to him; whom he doesn't have to beg for it from. Sei is a sweet, giving person. Any man would be lucky to have him. I'd love some background on how he became such a masochistic person, lacking self-respect and agency.
