This was so emotional and poignant with beautiful performances and title OST.

Honestly from the trailer I too thought it would be more serious so initially I was a bit thrown off but I am enjoying the light hearted feel now. Chen Mo's storyline though feels like a bit of disconnect in the show

TJC and RZS are doing so well acting wise. This kid, RZS is just so talented. TJC has been amazing in Under the skin as well as this one

Well, everyone has different expectations but the script was written in a strict cooperation with anti drug police,…
I am not denying it's based on a true story and real characters. Its just that at the moment it's not working for me. I have been looking forward to this drama right from when Yibo was announced in it. I followed it through the filming period, waited when it would pass review. I have been invested in this since 2020. Mind you I haven't dropped it, just putting it on hold till I see how it goes ultimately. That's all. I still want to praise them both for their efforts.

Of course, to each their own. For me I have to put this on hold now, as I said I do want to finish it but I will wait, I am glad though that they are being praised.

Title Being a Hero Spoiler
I did come into this with the expectation that this will be a serious story, not for bromance tbh, and i think Chen Xiao and Yibo are both doing a really good job, especially impressed by Chen Xiao. It was my first time watching him. My problem lies with how some things got written. The part where Yibo got Chen Xiao out of rehab and tried to get him to stay with him, the writing of the whole thing felt really weird to me. Also where Chen Yu is discussing about the possibility of his boss being corrupt with his fellow police friends, his girlfriend hears it and suddenly proceeds to be a part of the conversation, trying to convince him that Uncle Lin can't be bad. That felt off too, like that's a serious discussion, and so far up to where I watched she is a civilian, and Yibo told her to leave initially but they were shouting anyway so then she just joined the conversation. Felt really weird to me. I have only seen up to episode 8, so my thoughts are only up to that. I do want to watch this fully but i am putting it on hold for now and wait till the end and see the spoilers and then will watch. I was here to watch a serious drama but then I also kept feeling that they were being very commercial masala type in some moments, like scenes with drug dealers and drug lords and some part of the police things felt very unprofessional ngl.

I have finished up to 8 episodes but I hink I will put this on hold. I feel like the plot is all over the place. Feels like they are trying to do too many things at once honestly. Idk this is how I feel right now.

how can i word this nicely nd not offensive... when they make the women in several dramas annoyingly cringey /…
I mean different cultures have their own portrayals. It's really awesome that you have fierce women in shows , I respect that a lot, but like I said here in India, you do have bubbly, innocent FL many times. Even within India it varies culturally from state to state. A lot of times bubbly FL may be shown to bring positivity to the family. We do have fierce women, but they are mostly seen on web platforms and movies. On TV it's different. Also like a lot of stress on family values, which might seem toxic but they are still family and you accept that even if you don't want to, or might seem frustrating, we can't get out of that, and you would hardly see Indian TV series that promotes breaking from family because they are toxic, even today Indian TV series would rather promote showing you a joint family with multiple relatives living under one roof, even though that culture has changed a lot in the last few decades realistically

Well I am from India and there are some typical things about how a FL should be for the dramas that are on TV here too. You can see some variations in maybe web or movie platforms but on TV it's a whole another story. And in our TV as well you might find overly bubbly FLs , who might be too innocent etc. And well some of them are really bad but sometimes a bubbly or an innocent FL in such drama can become popular tbh. The portrayal of FL is quite different from US shows, or any western show.

There's always so much hate towards female characters, and I see this trend in almost every comment section. I'm new to this commenting thing but I have been reading the comments for some years now. Honestly a lot of times the hate towards the female characters feel unjustified. Like the ML might do similar behaviour within a bromance or BL ship but they will never receive nearly the same hate and criticism as the female lead. Just my two cents.

When I am watching an Agatha Chritie adaptation, I am mostly looking at the execution rather than the mystery because the cases are all known. It's a matter of how the adaptation is taking place, in this case sadly from that perspective the show ia not working for me. I am still watching because I love them both, but yes I can't help but feel a little disappointed. Also unpopular opinion but I didn't hate the FL in MRIAD as much as others seem to. I sort of enjoyed the trio. I do think the romance part could have been omitted or developed better but I still did enjoy Youning being a part of their trio.
