Just finished it, I thought this was okay. I mean I thought going in that the story would be about the case but in the end a large part of the series focused on marital problems between shady husband and creepy wife. The murder mystery took a backseat and the toxic relationship part became central. I felt that the mystery in its own was okay in terms of police procedural but as a murder mystery it wasn't too complex. Coming to husband and wife, at first I was seeing only the shady husband as the bad guy but through their conversations, by episode 12, I really felt she too was quite creepy. However I have to say Wang Yang and Song Jia really were so good in their roles, I just watched them every episode doing toxic behaviour towards each other, and it became additctive to me. Kudos to them for their performances. I also feel like there weren't very many likable characters in this drama, men or women. Anyway that was very strange, unusual and addictive ride for me with this series and I enjoyed it a lot. The production quality, cinematography and acting made it quite enjoyable even with a story that lacked depth.
Lol. Perfect way to describe it… shady husband and toxic wife totally sums it up. BUT…. I thought it was an…
I called her creepy wife and their entire relationship to be toxic. At first I was completely hating the shady husband but ultimately by episode 12, I did find the wife to be quite creepy.
It feels like watching two different shows sometimes, the mystery case and then the shady husband / equally creepy wife toxic relationship drama. Nevertheless I still did get invested in the series,I want to see how it all ends finally.
Aaah finally finished it, what an amazing experience through the highs and lows of the people in this drama. Great performances from the entire cast, the visuals and shots were beautiful. The story was engaging and interesting, it even didn't make me lose interest when we were seeing the seniors talking about things related to the plot. Lawyer Cheng was amazing, Baoyu was such a great friend and Jia Mo was so pure and innocent and a genius at the same time. I quite like the ending each of them got. Such an amazing series, I really wish we get more works like this from cdramas. Lastly, absolutely loved how Ruoyun portrayed the character, he was phenomenal.
I am actually finding this series to be really good. I love that Ruoyun is playing a mathematical genius from the spectrum. The series in itself is also quite engaging to me, the topic of tax fraud while might feel boring, but for me it's refereshing to see commomners and lower level government issues which I haven't seen in a historical series before. I'd also like to add that the usage of humour with the underlying melancholy of the situation that seeps out, really works for me well. So all in all this one is working for me. Of course I understand, to each their own but yes that's my opinion right now. I am eager to know how it will play out in the end, i have read that it's based on the novel that was inspired by true events that happend during this time period. So finally how the whole thing plays out is what I am looking forward to.
I love this movie so much. It's a story that gave me so many feels. The actors all did well but especially Joseph was phenomenal, the sensitivity and emotions he brought to the character of Liam was beautiful to watch. This probably one of Joseph's best performances. Gwei Lun Mei's portrayal of Mabel was amazing too. I have watched the movie more tham once and will probably do so again in future.
