I completely get what you mean. I went into this drama thinking it was going to be a dark and serious drama, and I think that was due to the way the drama was marketed in the trailers.

The drama is not perfect, but it is pretty enjoyable for what it is. I love the banter and chemistry between our characters, and I can't get enough of all their scenes.

And I'm with you — I am excited for He Yan to don armor and get on the battlefield. It's going to be so much fun. Can't waittt~

Yeah, this comment section moves way too fast so I can't always keep up lol. I don't know if most of the complaints regarding this matter are from readers or nonreaders. I just know that He Yan is still the same He Yan in every universe she is in. It's like you said, LotFG is not a revenge-focused story, and viewers should not expect it to be.

I'm currently reading the novel, and while it's still very early, the He Yan in the drama is very similar in temperament to the He Yan in the novel. I've seen some complaints about why He Yan isn't seeking revenge immediately after recovering from her assassination attempt and how her personality is too easygoing in the drama, but here is a direct quote from the novel, "The truth was concealed, and she had to uncover it. But before that, she had to live her life well."

Which makes so much sense.

This is her second chance at life, and while she wants those who have hurt her to pay in due time, she isn't going to waste her new life living in spite of others. She wants to do things on her own terms and live her life for herself.

This is very much on par with the He Yan in the drama, so I'm happy to learn the character is still the same at her core.

I love the ML in this drama, I really do, but for others to say he is outperforming the FL reeks of misogyny, like you said.
