I think you misread my question. I wasn't curious on whether or not the two cousins will get married to each other. I never brought up political drama at all lol. I was just wondering if Yong Ning had a crush on Yan Chi. 😅

Oh, I'm not really sure what the family dynamic is lol.

I just know that Yong Ning's grandma is the grand princess, meaning she's the sister of the emperor, and she's also Yan Chi's great aunt. If Yong Ning's grandma is Yan Chi's great aunt, then their fathers cannot be biological brothers. So I just assumed they were like 2nd cousins or something, since I don't think they share the same last names either.

That was why I wondered if Yong Ning liked Yan Chi, because back in those days, it wasn't uncommon for cousins with this dynamic to marry.

I'm glad that's not the case here though. :)

I'm currently rewatching this with my sister who has never seen it before. She loves it, but unfortunately her schedule is hectic so we can only watch when she have time. 😭

I really appreciate that this drama is still just as addicting and exciting even the second time around. ❤️

Fr, a missed opportunity lol.

So I liked this drama since the beginning, but it was these two episodes that really hooked my interest. What a twisttt. I suspected Vice Commandant Wei Yanzhi since episode one, but halfway through the investigation, he made me doubt myself. He just looked so devastated by Song Rou's death, I no longer thought it could be him (I should've known better smh.) For a minute there, I was actually convinced his older brother was the one who was guilty — poor guy. Had our leads not dig in, Wei Yanzhi would've fool me.

And speaking of Wei Yanzhi — he truly is one of the most disgusting characters I've ever seen in a cdrama. He had an affair with Song Rou, got her pregnant, then on the night she thought he would run away with her, he slept with her again... only to behead her right after. As if that wasn't cruel enough, he also burned her body and shattered her skull into hundreds of pieces in order to get rid of the evidence. He ruined her life, and even in her death, he still disrespected her corpse. POS. Song Rou deserved better.

If I was Yan Chi, I would be smitten with Shen Wan too. Shen Wan's empathy for the victim really moved me in episode 5. I really loved the scene where she helped repair Song Rou's body as best as she could and put clothes on Song Rou one last time. Shen Wan wanted to restore Song Rou's dignity and she accomplished that. What a powerful moment.

A great introduction to the drama. Great performances all around.

You are so triggered lmao. Did Xiao Yao break your heart too? You sound very narrow-minded and immature, crying and attacking strangers online simply because they shared a recommendation for a drama you don't like.

It really was! LXY was fantastic in this drama though. I think many people can agree that some of the strongest performances were by him. This was my first real experience with him as an actor, and I was blown away by his acting depth and range. I don't think anyone could've portrayed his role as well as him. Unfortunately, he just have bad luck when it comes to picking good scripts.

I think that you should still give the drama a try if you're ever in the mood for a story like this, because you might end up liking it more than I do, but definitely go in with low expectations lol.

Omg lol. I'm sorry to hear that. 😔 It's still really early for me, but so far I like this drama, so I really hope it don't let me down later. If it do, it'll be the third lackluster period cdrama I watched in a row and I don't think I can handle that that much disappointment. 😅
