Thank you for reading lol~ ❤️

I dropped this one only a couple of eps in. This review reinforces that decision. 😂👀 I need to find dramas…
I think that was my problem too! I really thought that this was going to be the drama to fill in the void that TPOB left lol. The themes, storylines, and characters were all similar, but the executions of the two dramas were as different as night and day. It was hard not to notice all the shortcomings of TPG.

The two leads were great. I really do hope we get another drama with them in the future~

So, ML will also have the memory? I have just started in episode 1. It already looks so good.
he is drawn to her by a sense of familiarity, but he have no memory of their past.

I'm going to miss this so much and all those goodbye posts on weibo are salt to my pain
Same. It feels like saying goodbye to dear friends. I've been having difficulty moving on to another drama since finishing this. I missed the characters so much, I even went back to season one just to rewatch my favorite scenes lol. Everyone did an amazing job with this series. ❤️

Title In the Name of Blossom Spoiler
I don't think there was ever any coming back for him as a character after he attempted to rape Mudan in part 1.
While I agree with you that Miles Wei did an amazing job in this role and I loved the complexity of his character, I don't agree with your statement, "His character isn't a vilain."

Rapists will always be villains.
Women abusers will always be villains.

Just because Liu Chang had moments worthy of pity does not mean he deserve a pass.

Liu Chang held a grudge against Prince Ning because he claimed he would've been a "good" politician had it not been for Prince Ning, but let's not forget that he tried to rape Mudan long before he was ever Prince Ning's son-in-law. Prince Ning might have forced him to do horrible things in the name of politics, but Prince Ning never forced him to kidnap Mudan. Nobody forced him to chain her up like an caged animal that was less than human. He made her his slave, he tried to take advantage of her again here too while she was helpless, and he did that all on his own.

He wasn't obsessed with Mudan because he loved her. He didn't even care for her. He only wanted what he couldn't have - just like how he wanted the princess prior to having her, and then when he finally got her, he no longer wanted her. To him, women were just 'things' he could own, and once those things were no longer exciting, he could toss away.

It was nice that he finally accepted his wife in the end, but that could never erase all of the horrible things he did. He hurt so many people and killed so many more. He was evil and selfish, and he was not worthy of redemption. I felt his death was not painful enough.

Again, I loved Miles Wei's performance in this drama, and I can't imagine anyone else playing this character as well as he did, but I just hate this character so much so I had to give my two cents here.

I had to pause the drama because I'm so scared for Mudan. I am having flashbacks to season one when Liu Chang…
!!

My exact thoughts. He was literal trash. The scum of the earth. I felt so much satisfaction when Mudan stabbed him right in the chest and twisted the knife. The only thing that could've made it better was if he had die on the spot, but too bad he didn't. (Hopefully, soon though.)

Like you, I also gave in to the bad Mango subs. I'm currently on episode 22 right now. I have no self control so I fear I will complete this drama tonight before Viki finish releasing the good subs lmao.

There were definitely things I disliked about season 2 and I've complained about them a lot lol, but I agree with you that aside from those complaints, the rest was enjoyable - there was still much to love about this season. I'm glad we both stuck it out to the end. :')

Let me know what you think of those last episodes once you finish watching them!

Only 7 minutes into EP20, and I feel sick to my stomach.

That was definitely the worst plotline to come out of season 2. When I first watched that episode, I was so disappointed…
Yes, exactly. With all the episodes wasted on miscommunications and dancing in circles around their feelings this season, I wished the writers had spent a little time on setting up that arc properly. :/

Viki gets worse every day
I feel the frustrations. I'm still salty that they got rid of their Watch Party feature lol. But it's like you said, despite the questionable decisions they make and the constant glitches on the app, they are still one of the best streaming services for Asian dramas.

I haven't finished this yet. I've only seen sad and angsty snippets, so this makes me hopeful to hear. 🥺❤️

The FL's mom's story came out of nowhere and makes ZERO sense. IDK if it's actually following a plotpoint from…
That was definitely the worst plotline to come out of season 2. When I first watched that episode, I was so disappointed because that plot twist was lazy writing, the setup for it was nonexistent, and the characters acted out of character in that moment.

If it helps though, the story do get better from there.
