I am late to the party, but I am ready to binge 23 episodes. 🤗
The two leads were great. I really do hope we get another drama with them in the future~
Rapists will always be villains.
Women abusers will always be villains.
Just because Liu Chang had moments worthy of pity does not mean he deserve a pass.
Liu Chang held a grudge against Prince Ning because he claimed he would've been a "good" politician had it not been for Prince Ning, but let's not forget that he tried to rape Mudan long before he was ever Prince Ning's son-in-law. Prince Ning might have forced him to do horrible things in the name of politics, but Prince Ning never forced him to kidnap Mudan. Nobody forced him to chain her up like an caged animal that was less than human. He made her his slave, he tried to take advantage of her again here too while she was helpless, and he did that all on his own.
He wasn't obsessed with Mudan because he loved her. He didn't even care for her. He only wanted what he couldn't have - just like how he wanted the princess prior to having her, and then when he finally got her, he no longer wanted her. To him, women were just 'things' he could own, and once those things were no longer exciting, he could toss away.
It was nice that he finally accepted his wife in the end, but that could never erase all of the horrible things he did. He hurt so many people and killed so many more. He was evil and selfish, and he was not worthy of redemption. I felt his death was not painful enough.
Again, I loved Miles Wei's performance in this drama, and I can't imagine anyone else playing this character as well as he did, but I just hate this character so much so I had to give my two cents here.
My exact thoughts. He was literal trash. The scum of the earth. I felt so much satisfaction when Mudan stabbed him right in the chest and twisted the knife. The only thing that could've made it better was if he had die on the spot, but too bad he didn't. (Hopefully, soon though.)
Like you, I also gave in to the bad Mango subs. I'm currently on episode 22 right now. I have no self control so I fear I will complete this drama tonight before Viki finish releasing the good subs lmao.
There were definitely things I disliked about season 2 and I've complained about them a lot lol, but I agree with you that aside from those complaints, the rest was enjoyable - there was still much to love about this season. I'm glad we both stuck it out to the end. :')
Let me know what you think of those last episodes once you finish watching them!
Miles truly did an amazing job in this drama, I'm so impressed with him. ❤️
If it helps though, the story do get better from there.
