Honestly, all of this.Instead of viewing the leads as two very flawed yet genuinely good individuals still trying…
Respectfully, I disagree. Taking someone's money without their permission IS stealing. You said the ML told the FL that he would pay her back, but he only did so after the fact. Go to the store, take something without paying, and if you get caught? Tell them that you were planning to pay them back later. See how that fares. Go into your neighbor's house and take their savings. Will they be okay with that? Better yet, since it's not technically stealing, go ahead and take money from your parents' wallets or your granny's purse. You will pay them back, so it is okay, right? No? Do you see how wrong that is?

I'm not hating on the ML for what he did. He did what he did with good intentions in mind, and he felt terrible for it. He apologized to the FL because he knew he was wrong. She forgave him. They moved on. So why should I hold a grudge against him for that when she no longer does?

I already fully acknowledged that he is a green flag. In fact, I said they were both flawed but genuinely good people.

My point is the double standards. Some of the very same people claiming that what he did wasn't wrong and criticizing her for being upset that he stole from her are also now outraged because she placed the fake marriage contract under her pillow. Apparently, what he did was okay, but what she did was stupid and unforgivable in their eyes. Excusing a man's mistake but faulting a woman's mistake is why the OP wrote what they wrote and why I commented what I commented. The hypocrisy and misogyny are unreal lol.

Honestly, all of this.

Instead of viewing the leads as two very flawed yet genuinely good individuals still trying to figure life and marriage out, some people have to paint the woman in the relationship as the bad guy.

I keep seeing these people label Fei Ni as selfish or controlling, but they are the ones out here policing how she should be reacting and acting. Isn't that ironic? I think Muyang is a great guy, definitely a green flag, but I do find it funny how, to some people, misplacing a fake marriage contract in an easily accessible spot is considered a bigger offense than stealing money.

The blatant misogyny in some of these comments is quite ridiculous and sad. God forbid a woman want agency over her own life, her own money, and her own future. How dare she still have hopes and dreams after marriage? How dare she get angry when someone crosses her boundaries? How dare she say no?

If this is how they treat fictional women, can you imagine how they treat women in real life?

I CANNOT stand Feng Lin. Again, Fei Ni and Muyang are better people than me because I'm too petty to be that nice to someone who is constantly trying to ruin my life. I'm not saying violence is the answer, but I'm going to need someone to slap some respect into her. πŸ˜‚

Fei Ting isn't a bad person, but he is indeed very frustrating to watch this episode. I am interested to read your thoughts once you finish it. πŸ˜…

But rest assured. This is a very good episode for our leads. It'll make up for any frustrations the supporting characters might cause. πŸ«‚

ML built a whole ass TV just so the brother could get a job and he just ditches that to be a chef…
To be fair, Fei Ting was not compatible with that job from the start. Not everyone is cut out for a desk job. Some people thrive using their brains and some excel working with their hands β€” there is no shame in doing manual labor. We all have our own roles to play in society. He should switch positions and give his job to Fei Ni, or something.

So true! I can't help but be interested in Mujing and Qu Hua's relationship (because I enjoy a side of chaos πŸ˜‚), but the more I see of them, the more I appreciate Fei Ni and Muyang. Their relationship is just so warm and safe. We need more of that. πŸ’•

Seriously. There is no privacy. Then people get upset when they find things they're not supposed to. Condoms... fake marriage contracts... side hobbies. Fei Ni and Muyang are better people than me because I wouldn't have been as restrained as them if my space had been violated.

EP17:
The Fei family was incredibly annoying in this episode β€” especially Fei Ting. He was shading Muyang for being "good with words" and claiming a real man is a responsible family man. But let’s be real: he wouldn't have even been able to start his own family, or even get his job, without Muyang. He needs to worry about himself and sit his ahh down. 🀑

Aside from that, I'm really happy with the progress Fei Ni and Muyang made in their relationship. They are the most healthy and mature couple in this entire drama. So sweet β€” I love them. ❀️

Just my two cents, but Fei Ni clearly communicated her intentions about the fake marriage to Muyang from the beginning.…
Thank you. I agree with all of this lol.

FR. This drama has been a breath of fresh air. Each episode has been consistently stronger than the last, so I hope it is that way until the very end. I'm so tired of dramas with disappointing conclusions lol.

I see where you are coming from, but to be honest, I understand why Fei Ni was upset. Look at the times they live…
They had a mutual understanding when they first got married that it would be in name only. They even signed a contract over it. They aren't a real married couple yet, so what he did was indeed a violation of her trust. That is the point I'm trying to make. Also, in a real marriage, you can't make big financial decisions by yourself either. To us, it was just a couple bucks, but to her, it was her savings. He should've talked to her first.

And to answer your question β€” no. He didn't catch those fish. That was why he took money from her savings lol.

I see where you are coming from, but to be honest, I understand why Fei Ni was upset. Look at the times they live in and how poor so many are. She worked really hard to save that money, and Muyang basically stole it when he used it without asking her. Imagine someone stealing from your bank account and then telling you that they did it for your sake β€” you never even asked them to do that. I think if he had shared his intentions with her, she would've reacted differently.

Nonetheless, I'm glad they both communicated their feelings on the matter and decided to make up. We are all only human. We live and we learn.

On Love Story in the 1970s Feb 26, 2026
I'm not sure what brought me more joy in today's episodes:

Watching Feng Lin make a fool out of herself or watching Chief Wang lose sleep.

Both are pretty hilarious. 🀭

this comment sold me - I'm adding it to my summer watch list.I just finished Meet Yourself not too long ago and…
I completely forgot I wrote this comment... oof.

I finished A Dream of Splendor last month and I did not like it. 😬

For me, it was even more slow-paced than Meet Yourself. 40 episodes felt like 80, and it honestly put me in a drama slump. I also wasn't a fan of the main characters.

But I’m in the minority with these opinions β€” many people seem to love it, so maybe you will too~

Hey, could you please add a spoiler tag to your comment? There are still many people who haven't seen this drama yet, like me, and it is a bit infuriating to come across such a post right at the top of the comments section.
