I think this drama is a cautionary tale about getting to know someone well before jumping into a relationship with them just because you think they are cute. Rin and Taiga are not compatible, and both are at fault for why their relationship has problems. Rin gets upset over the littlest things because she is insecure, but Taiga also dismisses her concerns each time she tries to bring them up because he is avoidant. Healthy communication is part of being with someone. If you can't even bother with that, then you're probably not mature enough to be in a relationship.

I hate her too lol. And I agree — she should stop effing around, because that was what got her in this mess in the first place. 😬 She thinks she’s the smartest person in the room, but a truly smart person knows how to lay low when they've got secrets to bury.

I can't wait for karma to get her. 😪

He is the worst. If Ling Yi wants him, she can have him. She'll have to live with both him and his mom until the day she dies. Good luck dealing with all of those red flags in one house. 😂

I read another comment and the person said that Ling Yi was lying. She comes from a poor background. The ML felt sorry for her, so he gave her his spot in university. She's an opportunist, so that’s why she pretended to be his girlfriend when he fell into a coma, but then immediately went back on her word once that title no longer served her.

Ms. Xu is definitely my least favorite character in the drama at the moment.

Inviting another girl over to a "meet the parents" meal with your son's girlfriend and then forcing your son's girlfriend to cook the meal and serve it to you as if she is your servant is another level of trash. I love that Fei Ni finished that entire fish (that she cooked!!) by herself while that opportunist Ling Yi was trying to show off, and then left immediately afterward.

She didn't deserve that level of disrespect.

EP7:

I tolerated him at first... until episode 7. The way he tried to control her, and even put his nasty hands on her, made my blood boil. He's embarrassing, and I'm so glad our girl Fei Ni knows her worth and walked away.

I really feel for Fei Ni. She tries so hard, and it breaks my heart to watch her get pushed down every single time. 🥹

But I guess it's realistic. Hardworking and capable people tend to get passed over for promotions while their incompetent coworkers move ahead in life.

During the Cultural Revolution, intellectuals were seen as dangerous, which made them vulnerable. It was one of the reasons why Fang Muyang's parents were taken, wasn't it? His mother was a university professor and his father was an artist — both intellectuals. Fei Ni is obviously very loyal to her government, but she is also a free-thinker, so I can see how that could be used against her.

I'm not an expert on this period of Chinese history either, but this drama has definitely made me look more into things like the Black Five Categories. It's been interesting seeing this cultural and political context come into play in this story~

I have no doubt that is one of the reasons why she's being an asshole, but she has always been against Fei Ni attending university, even from the start. Each time Fei Ni successfully reaches the goalpost that she has set for Fei Ni, she makes up excuses to bar Fei Ni from getting accepted.

I cannot stand this woman. 🥲

Feng Lin might be a hater, but at least she's consistent. I don't understand Ms. Xu at all. She said if her son marries Fei Ni, then Fei Ni isn't allowed to go to university. But in the same breath, she's also making googly eyes at Ling Yi because Ling Yi is a university student. Make it make sense. 🙄

I can't remember when exactly they start, but if you keep watching, they'll appear during the last few minutes of each episode~
