I think they do multiple edits. Once editing is done, they have the basic shell of the drama. Now they just need to add music, dubbing, etc which should be quick. imo we will probably hear news about licensing in October.

tbh I don't think there's a lot of flashbacks compared to other dramas but I agree about the fillers. there were too many pointless dating scenes once they got together.

XRH's crying definitely could use some work lol the first time she cried (in eps 2?) I actually laughed out loud. it doesn't help that the director likes to film close up shots.

the filming only took ~90 days and they basically filmed at hengdian without travelling to other cities. budget shouldn't be too big.

the director posted that the first edit is done. based on the chat log from his wife (she posted on XHS lol) they've been editing from May to September.. that is a long time! I'm glad the director was involved the whole time. Sometimes cdramas have directors that don't participate in the post production because they're already filming their next project (Zhu Ruibin is a good example..). Love that this director is involved.

fans following the filming basically knows what scenes they shot. I think from eps 19 ~ 25, the leads are separated. They separate in the novel too.

Zhu Yu was always rumored for 2025 Q4 or 2026 Q1. The earliest it can air is December. I don't think it'll air earlier than that. IQIYI & Tencent's schedule is pretty packed the upcoming months.

tbh the script is almost completely different from the novel. they've basically only used the same names.

I hope there are a lot more happy moments we haven't seen (filmed indoors maybe) because you can't have a love/hate relationship with few happy scenes lol audience won't even understand why they feel so strongly lol this was a problem with linghe's last drama (our generation). the writer failed to establish why FL was so obsessed with ML because they didn't show enough back story. hope this isn't the same case here.

yeah I feel like the drama cut a lot of main CP scenes and added a lot of side character scenes (esp 4th ML & 3rd FL CP). there is around ~6 episodes in the middle where ML & FL are completely apart. the director really needs to establish their relationship well in the beginning otherwise their separation won't feel as strong.

it has a lot of snow scenes so it will air before spring imo so either December or early 2026.

IQIYI is releasing Fated Hearts (li Qin & Chen Zheyuan) on October 5. It's 38 episodes so even if it follows the typical 2 eps per day schedule, it will only finish airing late October.

CY's drama took up the slot for September. It's airing simultaneously on tencent & iqiyi.
