tencent is very strict with handing out S+ budgets lately. there's rumors that a lot of dramas they had planned got rejected because they couldn't give the production the S+ budget they wanted.

I think Linghe has already been trying on wigs and costumes because his hairline is noticeably shaved at the recent lancome event. I think this is the first time he isn't rushing into productions. Zhu Yu's filming started shortly after Our Generation wrapped filming.

You guys need to remember this is airing on both IQIYI & Tencent and it's only a S level budget so it'll have to wait for both platforms schedules and generally platforms will give precedents to dramas that they air independently. Fu Shan Hai (CY's drama that aired recently) was also duo platform but that one was S+ budget so it has higher priority.

So far, I think it's already confirmed that Yang Zi's drama is airing on IQIYI during CNY break so that's basically late Feb to early Mar off the plate. I think January is already full so we need to see if this can air in early Feb..

it def needs to air during the winter tho.. there's too many snow scenes

ok I'm watching Hard to Find (historical short drama that CDJ did) to see how this director is and .. I hope he doesn't use so many slanted camera angles for gui luan lol it's kind of making me dizzy

can we ff to January :D I really want to see costumes omg this is Linghe's first time being the sole first billing on a costume drama and based on the cast call (most of the casting is for male characters who have connections with ML) this seems very ML centric. Linghe's dramas so far have mostly been FL centric so this is new territory for him

LLTG director is muuuuch better. imo LLTG plot is ok but it is elevated by the directing, cinematography and main leads.

the director for Rebirth of Malicious Empress is Yin Tao (idk there's a diff name on MDL) and he is very run of the mill director imo he's better with shonan type of dramas like Blood of Youth but his adaptation of Destined was poorly shot imo I'm bringing up this because Destined is closer in style to Rebirth than his other dramas.

tbh would be better to start filming in January because iirc December has a lot of year end events he'll prob attend

short dramas have always been more explicit tbh they don't follow the same censorship as long dramas

tbh if anyone can deal with online haters, it's MZY lol she dealt with the insane BL shippers from Untamed hating on her and that was back when she was still a rookie actress acting in side roles.

could they find someone that fits the role better? yes. but they've clearly already signed the deal so just move on. I'm seeing so many posts attacking the actress' looks and age and it's getting too much. if you can't handle the casting then just stick to the novel. the adaptation won't satisfy everyone.

this drama should be like LLG. Wu Lei actually had far less screen time than Zhao Lusi but he was still top billing.
