Zhu Yu was always rumored for 2025 Q4 or 2026 Q1. The earliest it can air is December. I don't think it'll air earlier than that. IQIYI & Tencent's schedule is pretty packed the upcoming months.

tbh the script is almost completely different from the novel. they've basically only used the same names.

I hope there are a lot more happy moments we haven't seen (filmed indoors maybe) because you can't have a love/hate relationship with few happy scenes lol audience won't even understand why they feel so strongly lol this was a problem with linghe's last drama (our generation). the writer failed to establish why FL was so obsessed with ML because they didn't show enough back story. hope this isn't the same case here.

yeah I feel like the drama cut a lot of main CP scenes and added a lot of side character scenes (esp 4th ML & 3rd FL CP). there is around ~6 episodes in the middle where ML & FL are completely apart. the director really needs to establish their relationship well in the beginning otherwise their separation won't feel as strong.

it has a lot of snow scenes so it will air before spring imo so either December or early 2026.

IQIYI is releasing Fated Hearts (li Qin & Chen Zheyuan) on October 5. It's 38 episodes so even if it follows the typical 2 eps per day schedule, it will only finish airing late October.

CY's drama took up the slot for September. It's airing simultaneously on tencent & iqiyi.

it's because CY's drama is simultaneously airing on tencent and iqiyi (the two biggest streaming platforms). Youku has a drama airing right now but its audience isn't the typical idol drama watching crowd.

cdramas are longer in episodes but each episode is much shorter than kdramas. kdrama episodes are 1+ hr long while cdrama episodes are around 30~40 min long

I don't think there's a time slot for it. IQIYI is currently airing CY's drama (it's an S+ budget drama so it's highly important) and it's pretty much the focus for the entire month.

so reliable melons have said this is airing Oct 8th. It will be competing directly with Fated Hearts (IQIYI) and Yummy x 3 (Tencent). things will start getting interesting :)

tbh Jiang Qiaoxi Linghe is so underrated amongst fans lol I know the drama was a disappointment but I just did a rewatch of his scenes last night and imo this is his best acted drama so far. I also really really like how this drama used no filters. I like TBT but sometimes the overuse of blurring filters affects the cinematography. I really hope he has more opportunities to work with directors like this in the future.

tbh I looked at his filmography and imo it's because he didn't film much historical dramas when he was younger. the fast way to become a traffic star in China is through acting in historical dramas.

the first 4 are more popular in China than internationally. XK is more popular internationally than China (I think his career might be over ngl..). I feel like HMH is still a rising star in China. Not quite in the tier of a traffic star yet but he has so many historical dramas lined up that I can see him rising in popularity.
