I waited for this to finish airing to binge and I wanna say this drama's cinematography was SO wasted on this script writer. I knew I shouldn't have had high hopes because this script writer's works are all rated at less than 5 stars on douban (10 stars being the highest). Only those who understand mandarin will understand this complaint but the dialogue is soo ridiculously modern. It doesn't fit the historical setting at all. Also, I've read all the bts drama about the producer favoring the SML and imo the biggest issue is the actor they choose can't really act. This character could've been good if they picked a better actor. Another complaint I have is that for most of the drama, I can't feel the love FL has for ML. It doesn't help that there's like no bgm over most of their scenes together.

having said all that, this drama is so so so pretty and I really wish the script was better. For once, a cdrama used proper lighting and didn't just slap a blinding white filter over everything.

I've watched blood of youth and the difference in skills of the directors is quite drastic. this drama's director is quite poor, the bg looks extremely fake and for some reason all the actors look very orange in the face (weird filter?)

this is supposed to air on Aug 6 and we have no promo at all lol would be a miracle if this airs well

about Song Yi's voice, unfortunately that's just how her voice sounds lol I speak Chinese and I can assure that her line reading is veryyy good.

rumor on weibo that it'll premiere on the 26th so we will most likely get an announcement tomorrow. LYF season 2 is premiering in early of July and will take up most of the hot searches so TPR needs to build some hype before that premieres. 26th would be a good time to premiere the drama.

LYF season 2 is very short (only 20 episodes iirc) so will most likely only air for 1.5 weeks but yeah, it's going to take up majority of the hot searches lol since YZ, DW & TJC are all veryy popular

I think there's going to be a fanmeeting/press conference because there's one media person on weibo that said they're gonna attend. should be any day now if that July 3rd premiere is true. Just need them to drop a more story related final trailer.

let's be honest, he'll never escape trolling lol even when other people's drama aired recently, he was still regularly being stepped on to promote others. I feel like there's so many fans of other actors that see him as a rival even though linghe is still just starting out lol it kind of makes me hope the current rumor of him starring in that modern day romance with ZJM is true because the production company behind that (daylight entertainment) is very respected in the industry. If he's going to be continuously submitted to trolling and hate then might as well give him the opportunities to match the jealousy lol

tbh I have nothing against that drama but the marketing my god.. one of the most annoying I've seen in years. I'm Chinese and frequent weibo/douban and the amount of times I saw that drama's marketing step on other completely unrelated actors to promote the drama was insane.

September would be much better. avoids his other drama and also avoids the olympics in August.

honestly I don't have a lot of expectations for this drama lol IQIYI's marketing is so poor compared to tencent or youku. the currently airing YXJ and the already aired Fox Spirit were supposed to be their "big" dramas this year and look at the treatment they got. This drama already got sold to MangoTV so I can see them doing even less work on promoting.

filming wraps July 10th apparently. this was a really long shoot for a modern romance drama lol looking forward to a teaser trailer or something

also I think Linghe looks sexier with the facial hair lol kind of hope the ~older scenes are longer

he is still thin in this drama and ngl it does get distracting

I did think the face changing thing was familiar then I realized it borrows from the Han Hyo Joo movie (Beauty Inside)! I finished the first 6 episodes and I think it's a bit slow paced which will probably harm its initial viewership since there's nothing really dramatic. Also, I think the face changing thing works when it's a movie but I'm not sure if it'll get repetitive when stretched out to a 30+ episode long drama.

I saw this rumor on weibo too but I don't believe it yet. they just shot Du Hua Nian together.. I don't see them working together again so soon. Also, the characters are in high school and imo Linghe has aged out of that kind of role.

tbh I'm surprised they put the rebirth scene in the trailer?? so they actually shot it like the novel?? I thought this plot device was banned in China? a lot of the dramas in recent years (SOKP comes to mind) had to work around that particular plot device by using ~it was just a dream~
