IQIYI only spends on promo for the dramas they wanna push. For example, the drama airing right now (only aired up to 20 eps so far) already has more hot searches than majority of the costume dramas that aired last year.

I hope he doesn't act in iqiyi dramas anymore lol the rumors of TBT dropping at anytime without promo is so insane. all his dramas on iqiyi have been treated poorly like this. the difference in promo that other dramas get compared to his is night and day. I hope Zhu Yu airs well and he collabs with tencent more.

there's no confirmation. the rumor was that it'd be air dropped aka it can be released anytime. for ZLH's sake, I hope that's not the case. IQIYI has another big drama airing right now and this won't get any promo if they air it now.

the most common complain is that the political plot is like childs play. not intricate enough. but that's a problem that's common in these historical dramas.

I'm watching this drama and the other xian xia at the same time and the difference in acting and cinematography is night and day. finally, a cdrama director that knows how to light a scene and not just add blinding filters over everything!

have you read the book? can you provide a summary of the political plot? I've read a lot of unfavorable reviews on chinese sites about how the political plot is not good.

Moonlight Mystique (Bai Lu) is scheduled to air in early Jan and after that will be Love of the Divine Tree (Deng Wei). If this drama gets aired around the same time as these two, it won't get much marketing from IQIYI. The best is to air it far apart from these bigger dramas.

I think his role is juiced up in the drama because he's onset a lot more compared to how big his role is in the novel.

ok I think you're a fan but I'm just telling you the truth. he's currently receiving a lot of criticism from Chinese viewers for over acting and having poor line reading.

he's clearly over-acting tho. it's one of the main criticisms on chinese web actually.

imo he's good in those kind of stoic/badass roles like DFQC but this one.. his acting is really cringey and over-acted.

MDL isn't accurate. IQIYI has a couple of big historical dramas to air in Jan ~ Feb. The earliest this can air is March imo.

yeah I was gonna say this role is very much in her wheelhouse. she's good in upbeat spunky roles. it's the cold face/stoic roles that she isn't as good in.

sokp was already one of his better stylings imo. the wig in princess royal was just plain awful lol and mjty piled on wayy too much foundation in a shade 5 shades too light

kdramas are good at modern romcom, melodramas and suspense series. but imo their historical dramas aren't good because they don't have the high budget that cdramas have. on the other hand, cdramas are always soo long. it an work in historical dramas but 40 episodes for a modern romcom is way too much.
