Let's hope there's a change of judges and decision makers at Baeksang. Whoever makes up the panel needs to go. Or they can include a most popular actor/actress category, instead of nominating popular actors/actresses for best actor/actress and depriving the real good ones of their spots.

I am watching up to ep 18 and I get you. I think I really got into this drama in ep 4 or so but by ep 17 and 18, I feel it's heavy. I started to ff some scenes. I think stories that center around death can get depressing if they go too indepth. I applaud the show for dwelling into all the emotional bits but I agree with you, it's too much. You know who I watch it for? Wan Peng! Cos her arc is light and quite funny.

What do you bother with linking to the article? You're doing exactly what she wants you to do...get more clicks into her trashy article. I wouldn't bother with giving her the publicity. Why invite more people to read her trashy article and know her trashy site? It'll be good if you can just remove the link. If people want to read, they can google. Don't give her publicity more than she deserves.

Love the storytelling. Taiwanese shows that are great have a way of gripping your heart and leaving you thinking about it for a long while.

Popularity does not equate to good quality. Rating on Douban is 6.4 by 111751 people and that tells you it's not liked by everyone. If it's above 7, then perhaps I can say it's quite well received.

Anyway, why are you so perturbed by my opinion? If you like the show and want to rate it highly, that's fine. But I posted negative comments about the show, and you feel the need to come and justify "how good" the show is to me? What do you need to prove? Whatever it is, it's not going to change my mind you know. And I'm not that important also. Haha.

There were shows I like a lot and the comments section was a mess. I felt the same way...what are these people saying but I realized it's just a show and I don't have to be so emotionally vested and expect everyone to like it too. There will be people who like it and people who dislike it. And this is a comment section, meaning, both sides can come and post their thoughts. To save myself the heartache, I stopped tracking the comments section altogether. I just posted my short reviews about it and move on without scrolling through and reading the negative comments.

As to why I posted the negative comments when I could have just dropped the show was cos I genuinely hope the show could do well and am disappointed with how it has developed. I think I have the right to post how I feel about it and you can leave it as that without coming to prove your point again and again. There is no right or wrong to prove and there is no award to take home.

When I watched the ex-bf arc, I thought well, this show will surely be better once he's out of the way. But boy was I so wrong. Like you said, it was one stupid character after another and they had to top it off with an unnecessary trope. Then we have people defending that this is a family drama and so these were needed. Like really? Personally, I could tolerate the mom even though she was overbearing but did we need so many other toxic characters and annoying incidents? I'm not here for romance but neither do I need to have my emotions played while watching a family drama. This just leaves a poor taste. I hope YZ and XK make better choice in future. This was a waste of their talent. I think I wouldn't be so mad if they weren't the leads. But then again, I probably wouldn't have watched if it wasn't for them.

I would say not being 100% objective. Or some of them really have very high threshold for such stories.

Sigh. If it was just a character or two, I can buy that. But it was one toxic character after another, then it got worse with the accident and death and sickness. I thought there were redeeming qualities for this show but nah...just poor storytelling that can't be justified away. Some of these were unnecessary for a family drama. I thought I could revise my rating upwards but now, I have to revise it lower. What a poor choice for YZ and XK.

Ah...just stop asking people to stop watching cos we give negative comments. I can also say this: don't like the comments you see or read, then stop reading and replying. Simple as that.

And you totally missed my point. Did I talk about the mother only? Did I go on and on about her? I was talking about the whole script of one toxic character after another. It's all in the show isn't it? Why was it necessary? It just leave a lousy taste. You don't mind those toxic side characters and want to learn from them? Well, good for you. To me, a lot of the developments were utter nonsense just to get to people's emotions. I had high hopes for this drama but it's disappointing. Why can't I say it and why must I defend my point of view just cos you like the show? I don't buy your POV and you don't have to buy mine either.

Fact!

Your threshold for such nonsense, as well as those who are rating 10/10 for this drama, must be really high. To me, not everything is realistic and it boils down to poor portrayal just to hype the emotions. This show, with the stellar cast, could have done better in terms of storytelling. Why waste so much unnecessary screen time on unimportant characters that serve nothing but negativity? This is why you see negative comments about the show and it's not just from me.

The writer is clearly playing up all sorts of negative emotions and this is just one of them. First, the mom and her desperation and if that's not enough, we have the ex-bf's sis, the bff's ex-husband, this lousy employee, and then the ML's colleague and father. If it's just one or two characters, I can let this slide but it's one after another.

Anyway, I'm making my comment in the context of this show. I know IRL, these things may happen when someone is confronted at work. But I'm saying it's very unnecessary in this storyline when we already have so many negative and toxic characters in the show. Makes it painful to watch.

The script writer likes to play up negative emotions and this is why this drama is painful to watch at times. Was it necessary to have water thrown at MCH? What was the point? To make MCH look strong or noble or pathetic?

All the negative characters are so one-dimensional and cartoonish. It's like there is a need to bring out the black so that we can see the white. All in, the storytelling is not as great as I'd hope even though the quality of the drama and the cast deserves better.

I haven't been able to complete his dramas properly after Falling Into Your Smile and Her Perfect Husband. Wonderland had a good first half, but it deteriorated with some stupid character.

I don't mind if it's just the mom, but there are so many annoying and toxic characters, like the ex-husband of the 2nd FL and the annoying relatives. From the trailers, it also seems there will be a new toxic character. It’s not exactly a pleasant watch. I've continued watching only because of the leads. So let’s see how this ends. The rating may just go up if the story gets better. As I've said before, the quality of the drama is not bad, but the story is not really as amazing.

The mom is quite key in this story so you'll see quite a bit of her. At least she appears in almost every episode.
