I feel this will be my comfort drama for the next few weeks. Been awhile since I found myself unconsciously smiling while watching a drama. The fluff factor is just <3
Unpopular Opinion: I wouldn't mind it if Du Sik had a wife and child in the past. It will add depth to his character and I believe this will make the drama more unique. I just wish they would explore it properly.
(Tho, in Because This is My First Life, a romcom drama too, they managed to pull off this too.)
sad the ratings are 2% i wonder if they will cancel season 2
this is the first drama that aired on that time-slot. plus, the overall concept is very new. so its understandable that it got 2% ratings as this drama was experimental at its core. for the season 2, impossible to cancel it as they are now filming it.
Since I sense some massive hate coming on FL (or did it happen already?). Here's a very good character analysis that gets nod from Reddit.
-----> Does anyone else love Hye-Jin's character development? She is flawed but not fatally flawed and that's why I like her so much.
First, we learned about her mother's illness and early death where Hye-Jin had to take care of her mother and probably hide things from her mother because she was worrying about burdening her. It seems like little Hye-Jin didn't have the chance to be cared for and mothered properly as a child. She was "parentified" too early and therefore has learned to keep her problems bottled up. She takes care of herself and doesn't let others take care of her.
Then, in this episode, she's embarrassed by her behavior when she >!she spent the night at Du-sik's house. Since she blacked out, it was probably scary for her to feel out of control of the situation and therefore, she lashed out at Du-sik to try to regain some control in the situation. She went on the offense by asking her if HE liked her (telling that she didn't say anything about her feelings but instead asked him as if attacking him).!< Once he denied it, she probably felt very vulnerable. So again, she goes on the attack, by >!insulting his social standing and belittling him.!< She's trying to erect the walls again that she had peaked over by >!getting drunk, being playful, and talking honestly with him!<
Deep down, we can see that she wants him and she wants him to want her back. However, she's learned the hard way that affection and love can be a one-way street, from her mother's >!early death!< to >!that jerk she had dated insulted her when she was a dental student. Men clearly haven't treated her well and instead of doing what Mi-seon is advising and just being open with someone about your feelings, she has to make sure that Du-sik likes her first before she is willing to be honest with him I was really heart-broken for her when she remembered that she had been brave enough to initiate a kiss with him and then he denied that anything had happened. So not only did she make the first move, he then pretends as if nothing happened. She had tried to open up to him (something that is clearly really hard for her to do based on her history) and he shot her down.
Now, why did Du-sik deny that they had kissed? My guess is that he also really doesn't want to get close to someone. I think he caused a former girlfriend's death accidentally and now is very worried about getting close to another woman.
Okay, my character analysis essay on Hye-Jin that no one assigned to me is now finished. I'm not in school anymore so I don't know why I give myself homework.
Initially dropped this after the first episode. Skimmed through the second episode. But decided to give it a proper watch again bc I'm so bored. And oh... I'm quietly liking it now. The cliches are overbearing at first, but once you get past it.. you'll see the real beauty of this drama. It was like a mixture of CLOY and Reply 1988.
