BK is still not out to his mom too,... and even PP to his parents.looking forward to the story of Teh and Oh Aew!…
PP might have a easier time coming out as his parents seem quite accommodative, but Teh will have a lot of issues with that. It was also indicated in the last episode. I didn't want to go there, as this has been done so many times already, and it would be very difficult to keep that original. I just hope Teh sticks to his promise of never ever leaving Oh and doesn't make Oh cry again on that!
There has to be tension b/w the two. That is the basic requirement of a plot.
1. Focus more on their rivalry aspect, how they cheer each other and also have some misunderstandings, as they pursue their dream. Like in the last run towards sunset, most of the time Teh was running ahead, but then at the end Oh started catching up and going up ahead. This rivalry may cause some misunderstanding as Teh's volatility is a basic trait of his personality. No reason to think that will change even after they become bfs.
2. Dealing with Teh's acknowledgement of them as bfs, but still wanting to keep it private. I mean it is difficult to believe Teh will do a complete turnaround, just because he has accepted his feelings for Oh! Until the end, he was still reluctant to completely open up to Tarn and tell her about his feelings for Oh! People still hesitate to come out in public even after they recognize their sexuality, and Bas holding hands with Oh "in public" was very important for him. This may be cause tension between the two.
3. Dealing with a long distance relationship as they are in different schools. I wonder how they will do it without making it a cliché!
4. Bas gets his own story on the side.
One thing I am sure of, these boys have still a lot of crying to do! :( ..I just hope they do it in a way that doesn't ruin the first season with it having a different director and all and they can maintain the same intense vibe as S1. At the end I think, Teh will transfer to Oh's school and we will get the HE , we are all such suckers for!:D It's impossible to think of a sad ending b/w these two.
So after ITSAY idk what to watch? Like every serie/BL I start feels so boring and not good enough? I already finished…
I start watching other bls, watch for a few mins, and then think; oh hell, I will just go re watch the ITSAY episodes :D. The synopsis of Manner of Death was pretty compelling though. Other than that, Asian bl at this level is simply not there!:(
If you also watch stuff other than Asian drama, I made a list below of few of my all-time favorite movies. SOme of them have the same intense vibe as this one.
You know what I love about this series (and GSP does this too)? Only love for one another wasn't enough and that's…
Do you think Teh has some insecurity; that he really thought Oh had moved on? The way he reacted, when Hoon said that Oh may also like him? He said, "But he has already liked someone else. It's over for me." I felt he really believed that. Makes me thing he always had this fear of rejection and not being enough, the way he always tried to focus on tutoring, so that he could be useful to Oh! In the last scene, when Oh asked "What about us" and Teh remains quite, Oh said he understands. I wonder what he understood! Is it like too much upheaval has happened between them and it has left its scars on them; they still love each other, but its difficult to go back to that innocent desperate love they had before, and that's why it was so restrained? I am wondering what the tension b/w them will be in S2! There has to have one for the drama to progress. Maybe it has something to do with moving on from that carefree teenage love to the problems of more grownup relationships? Or maybe I am overanalyzing it?
I wonder what role being in a big city has to play in S2 given the visage of skyscrapers and repeated emphasis on the fact that they are from small and peaceful town Phuket.
Let me tell a story about me and how this particular series connects into my life. It's okay if you are not interested,…
Thank You for sharing your story. I also wish I had someone like Hoon in my life when I was struggling through all of it. Wouldn't have to waste so much time figuring things out all on my own! A few simple words and unconditional support of even one close person can change things a lot.
#UnpopularOpinionObjectively the show is very goodI tried to give this a second chance after dropping it in episode…
Appreciate your opinion, everyone can't like it. Everyone is in love with GSP, but it didn't catch my attention. Now that you said it, I also think, it has more of a movie vibe rather than a series. Was a little curious about what you didn't like about the story though!.:)
Yes, totally agree. They crying scenes were just...how do you even act like that! Every detail is so well-crafted;…
Since we discussed this before, can I just say, as I rewatch the ending, I find it more and more satisfying! Yeah, I also don't like tinkering with a masterpiece like this. I also doubt this can be surpassed! I am sure it won't be ruined, but more concerned that it will become ordinary!
If I can point this out since I have been spamming the comment section anyway, made an account just so I could…
Yes, totally agree. They crying scenes were just...how do you even act like that! Every detail is so well-crafted; other things I didn't notice before, like the lighting is so good, and the use of surrounding colors (other than what they are wearing), looks like they put a lot of thought in every small thing.
The summary is changed. Liked the last summary much better. A bland and subjective synopsis to say the least, which completely doesn't do justice to such a masterpiece. A far cry from the poetic beauty of the first one. Wish the first one to be restored.
"But the best friend is so full of ego, he would much rather attempt it on his own when he has failed many times…
If he had accepted it that would have glorified the sacrifice. Remember, they are not just intimate but also rivals. You are underestimating the desire to achieve something on your own. He never denied any legitimate help from a friend, that's why he kept using the flashcards. But doesn't want a illegitimate help. In the end he felt bad doesn't mean he overreacted. Teh is in the place he is because of Oh, but that is not due to Oh's fault. You feel bad if someone gets hurt while you are doing the right thing, doesn't mean you are guilty.
So this isn't a review on the series as much as it is on the story! The series is really well done and the guy…
"But the best friend is so full of ego, he would much rather attempt it on his own when he has failed many times in the past" You really mischaracterized Oh here. To want to achieve something in life, without it being a hand-over, how can it full of ego! True, Teh gave him that, but he never asked for it. That doesn't make him full of ego. Just because he has failed before, should he just give up expecting anything from himself! He only loved Teh, and knew Teh loves him back, and just wanted Teh to accept the feelings. But Teh was in denial and constantly trying to compensate by provide alternative help. It was Teh who proposed to be the tutor. Oh had always tried to put a stop to it, whenever he felt Teh is not comfortable with it.
I see that people feel the ending to be sort of not satisfying enough after the drama they went through on twitter…
But a masterpiece has to be internally logically consistent, not based on requirements of season 2. Like they have been in love for their whole lives, and they finally get to be together, and that's so mild! I am trying to make sense of it. It seems like although they got to be together, what they went through has still left scars on their relationship. Teh feels hurt that Oh rejected his gesture, as he said even though done from confusion he had given up the seat with all his heart, he feels disappointed of not getting in the best uni, of disappointing and embarrassing his mother. Although he gets to be with Oh these feelings are still there. Oh also feels guilty that because of him Oh couldn't get to wear that uniform and of hurting Bas.
I suppose it also shows a maturing of their relationship; from innocent teenage love to a scarred but still meaningful adult relationship; where although you love each other, the scars prevent you from expressing yourself fully, fear of hurt makes you hesitant to open up completely. Or maybe I am reading too much into it, and they really left it for season 2!
I think I know why some people didn't like so much the ending. The pace of the series developed in a way in which…
exactly, like he poured his heart out to Hoon, and to Oh just one sentence! It was all Oh wanted to hear, but still.. The confession was sweet but had no intensity; he was so afraid that Oh may have stopped liking him, and then learned that Oh and Bas have gone back to be friends, so where is the reaction! Maybe they saved it for part 2.
Tbh with this ending, I am happy but I feel a little like Oh when Teh walked out on him from the make-out session at the end of Ep3 . Like I am happy, they got back together, but for a drama which was this intense the whole time, it was so lukewarm, I feel happy but under-satisfied.
I have one minor issue that sorta bothers me. Oh was the one who told Teh that they are no longer friends. But…
He meant he had said that, but he is changing his position. Like after they made up after fighting as kids, they had discussed why Teh didn't talk first. If Oh didn't say anything, does that mean even Teh won't take the initiative! Atleast, that's how I justified it..:D.
My fellow mates and the friends I made in this section, here are a few lgbt movies I really enjoyed over the years and I hope you check them out. I think you will like it. They listed in no particular order.
