I also just wanted to add that I think Teh does not get enough credit for how fast he has been exploring his sexual…
I think the central issue is Teh coming in terms with his sexuality and his feelings for Oh acting as a catalysis in in the realization process. But once he sees through that, I don't see why it will be a hindrance to their career!
Aw nice analysis. Hahaha how many times have you binged the series already? I really enjoy the portrayal of Teh…
Well what choice do I have! It has destroyed everything else. Normally I just watch some random bl episode or series, but I can't do that anymore... I like how you describe Teh gradually exploring and moving forward. I hadn't thought of it like that.
The dinner with Teh's family, Oh and Hoon's gf. The tension in that scene. The mother says how Hoon never disappoints her and talks about grandkids. But, then the mother asks the gf, "What do you like about Hoon?" She says that "Hoon accepts for me who I am, I feel comfortable that I don't feel the need to change."
So, Teh is constantly trying to be like Hoon suppressing his own feelings and trying to 'define' Oh's feelings too.(Teh: "I don't want you to be mad about Tarn", Oh: "I won't be like this ever again") But Hoon is actually someone who doesn't control others and lets them be themselves. I wish Teh just saw through that at that moment, that he is actually becoming exactly opposite to his brother in trying to be like him. All problems would have been solved!!
For me BL/LGBT/Yaoi/Shounen-ai is same thing and no one can change my mind. But, regarding for who is this series…
"Because no director or writer is writing a work with homosexual pairing where they intentionally write unrealistic stuff or as you said idealized. And I repeat, not one director or writer. Each writer and director creates work with realism in their mind " Didn't want to butt in, but is that really true? Do you really think all directors seriously considering truth when creating their dramas. There is particular kind of demand for the fulfillment of a fantasy of two boys together, and they are just feeding that. Its just like fake news, Trump supporters want to believe the election was rigged, and there are media houses feeding that with fake info. I wish every writer was as seriously writing as you portray them, but it simply doesn't ring true. One can argue, that they have deluded themselves into believing that what they are creating can really happen, but still it is a delusion created by self-interest.
Years of watching Asian dramas, but my first ever review, first participation in this spontaneous group in this section. By these standards, however it ends, I suppose it is the best drama I have watched in many years! This is also coming to an end, but looking forward to many more such dramas in coming years!
Does anyone agree with this? The conclusion of their color....First, Analyze their Color Identity : Part 1 : https://wavelovespang.tumblr.com/post/634636647713095680/itsay-ep-4-a-color-progression-analysis/amp?__twitter_impression=truePart…
"What does magenta represent? Magenta is the color of universal harmony and emotional balance. Its contains the passion, power and energy of red, restrained by the introspection and quiet energy of violet. It promotes compassion, kindness and cooperation." not necessarily ending up together but definitely not breaking up.
its much more complicated that I thought. Additive and subtractive primaries..... Red is Oh Blue, Green are Teh Cards are magenta Yellow is sunset what else ?
Oh goes to see Teh after finding out Teh has failed. But Teh is at the climax of his inner conflict at that point after failing the exam and reacts even more violently to Oh, blaming him for everything.
After the incident of episode 4, Teh firmly suppresses any feelings for Oh. This works for a while but Oh's growing proximity to Bas causes a eruption of the suppressed feelings. Teh realizes if he doesn't step up, Oh will really be gone forever.
Oh professes his friendship to Bas and promises to be a better friend. Bas overstretches the meaning and a makes a move. Oh is surprised but doesn't refuse immediately. He needs time to react.
Their continued togetherness catalyzes the conflict in Teh. But the image just refuses to die. This culminates in a total screw-up during the exam. Teh fails but Oh gets in. Lost everything, Teh finally comes to term with himself. He comes out to his brother and Tarn. He apologizes to Oh, but Oh is too hurt to restart things.
Although, Teh is disappointed he takes responsibility for his past action. He decides not give up on any of his dreams. The clarity from the death of confusion fills him with new strength. He resolves to work even harder and get readmission next year and get Oh back. This is his promise to the sunset.
ps: at some point Oh says no to Bas. Not really relevant.
But that scene at the beginning was really the beginning. The story is set in year 2021 for some unknown reason.…
I will just like to add, the only confusing part seems to be Hoon asking whether he called mom and he said no, but he already had called! That's because he was supposed to call again after meeting Hoon and riding the bus. I rewatched the scenes, as it would be very interesting if it was in retrospect or even an amalgamation of past and future, but there's just noway.
I could be very wrong as I used my very little knowledge on Thai (it had Thai subs)A single light, like the moonlight,…
Well, the essence is same. Reminds me of the floating on the water scene, Teh says, its nice, like someone holding him. Oh encourages him to let go. But I guess, Teh has still not realized who is his real support!
Can you educate me on this? I always thought any story with two boys in love is called bl. Is that not correct?
Thanks, that clarifies a lot. So, bl is like a straight woman's fantasy about two boys in love rather than about gay people themselves. The perspective matters a lot. I guess thats one reason there's so much crap in it. In that sense its totally not bl. But lets keep using the word and take back control over it?
For me BL/LGBT/Yaoi/Shounen-ai is same thing and no one can change my mind. But, regarding for who is this series…
In general language is always evolving. A word means what most people think it means. I had never thought about it before; but I guess, since this field has exploded in the last few years the interpretation of the words are also evolving very fast. With the advent of Thai dramas, generally called bl, I used to find a lot of stuff objectionable. Not only the rapey, only 'gay for you' parts but also other things like this obsession for the need of bl actors to constantly pretend like there is something going between them in real life. I really didnt like that. No one expects that from straight couple actors. At the same time, I watched them as they filled a vaccum in the market. I suppose they have bastardized the use of the word bl. Maybe more dramas like bkpp will change the meaning of the words bl to what it is supposed to mean!
Only thing I am sure, Teh totally screws up the exam. He is crying during the exam. In the original trailer, there is a scene where Teh is howling in the bathroom. That should be right after the exam! https://youtu.be/KIylNdQuR-w?t=180

Interesting and informative discussion..

How fitting. Wow, that is the extent of depth of his feelings for Oh.
That I had to put out that light
On my own
Is that the foreboding of a tragic separation!
