Yeah, I think they say sweet and sour. In my native language we say agridoce. But yeah, this one is definitely very tragic with a lot of deaths and people that are unhappy and unable to do what they want because no one really has freedom inside the Palace.

Yeah. I think the best thing would be for her to not date anyone, focus on their start up and get to know them better and then decide. That way she would have time to figure out her feelings and make her decision.

True. But I think there is more chance of it being with the Grandma because so far I have not seen anything that indicates she will choose him. But maybe things will change with the next episodes since she will find out the truth. We are halfway through so a lot can happen. Not long ago I watched a chinese drama where the FML was together with someone else for like 20 episodes but then there was a situation that made it impossible for them to be together (he was basically forced to marry someone else) and she ended up finding comfort in the other lead and then marrying him. So everything is possible.

True. This lie was kept for so long because without it there would be no drama. lol
Now I am guessing that she will go date HJP cause he is her "first love" and then realize that she actually loves NDS and go back to him in the end. That is the most cliché and predictable way this can go. Hopefully it wont happen. I dont want to see her date HJP if that will only cause all 3 of them to be hurt. I would rather have her date no one and get her feelings sorted before making a decision.

If they make HJP and DM date, they better be the endgame. I dont like people going back and forth in their romantic relationships.

It definitely will be hard for that to happen. But this is the drama world. I have seen main leads forgive and get along with someone who was the villain 99% of the drama and that even tried to kill them or caused the death of someone they cared for. So anything is possible.

I agree with the Grandma - HJP endgame tho. They have a pretty nice relationship. XD

I dont remember HJP wanting to ever tell the truth. I remember him wanting NDS to stop meeting her so they could get it over with.

About NDS not telling the truth, part of him never wanted to tell the truth because he knew there was a huge chance he would lose her, so all he needed was someone "stopping" him. The moment he met the grandma she went along with the lie saying it had been so long since they met and all that, so how was he going to say, "actually grandma, lets be real, we dont know each other, I am not the NDS that wrote her letters". It would be an awkward situation. And then with all the work they have been doing, there wasnt really an opportunity for him to tell her the truth. They were way too focused on work to have such a serious conversation. And that is why you should never start a lie, because it is easy to start one, but the longer you keep it, the harder it will be to tell the truth. And most of the times you end up telling smaller lies to cover for the bigger one.

He basically missed his chance to tell her the truth and kept her in the dark. I actually thought he would tell her the truth when he told her that the woman that wrote on that notebook and was going blind was her grandma. But I like that he came up with an idea for his work that would be something helpful for the grandmother, instead of something that would make them a lot of money. That shows that deep down he is a good guy. And on a human level, even with him being a nerd and everything, I feel he is more human than HJP. I am not saying HJP is not a good person or does not feel empathy. But NDS found practical ways to help people while I have not seen that much care from HJP.

Like I said, he did not even like Dal Mi until she was pretty much dating NDS. He is now feeling like he is losing something that "belongs" to him but it was him who actually "gave it away" to someone else. As adults, the one who had the first chance to tell her the truth was HJP and he chose to find someone to impersonate him instead. So for me, that makes him no better than NDS.

But like I said, at the moment, the only likable character for me is Dal Mi. Neither NDS nor HJP are at a level where I support them being with Dal Mi. A lot has to happen before that. But I guess if the truth was found earlier, there would be no drama. They are pretty much basing the whole story on this lie and without it we would only be left with the business part of the drama and her relationship with her family.

Well, if he finds someone else I can definitely see them 5 having dinner like a family since there would be no hard feelings between them. I hope the writers at least find him someone. I think the most cliché would be to make him be with her sister.

Since people dont care much about age these days, he could always marry the grandmother and take care of her. Just kidding, that would be weird. lol

SDM sure respects HJP views, not so sure about him respecting hers tho. NDS did stood up for her when he broke the name plate.

Also, NDS seems less scheming to me. He is mostly insecure and craving affection. HJP found a person to impersonate him, when he could have just come clean right there and then and she probably would have understood. But he made the lie even bigger by getting NDS involved. Also, some of his attitudes did not impress me. He does not seem to understand how big of a lie it is and how much it impacts her life until he falls for her.

In real life, to be honest, I would choose neither of them. lol

I would not date someone who lied to me about something so important.

Ok, I found it. It is at the end of episode 6. He talks with HJP at exactly 1:12:00 and then he goes to her house and meets her grandmother. And then the rest probably happens during the first few minutes of episode 7.

Remember when he went to her house for the first time? He was going to tell the truth, which was the reason HJP drove there in a hurry to try and stop him. But then he met her grandmother who ended up making him keep another secret - that she is going blind. I cant remember the exact details but I know that he went with the intention of telling her the truth and even told HJP that day that he was going to tell her everything.

Yeah, I forgot about the handwriting thing. She was suspicious so she will probably go talk to him and he will finally tell her the truth.

I am pretty sure she will end up with NDS. Everything is pointing to that. They shoved HJP into the second male lead position since the start. And all these years I have watched dramas, I think I only saw the FML ending up with the SML 2 or 3 times, and these 2 or 3 times were out of hundreds of dramas. It is very rare.

Maybe him being the mentor is not the problem. Maybe it is because they made him come across as not that interested in her so his feelings did not feel that genuine to me. She clearly cared a big deal about all those years they were sending letters back and forth, while he was doing it mostly because he felt in debt and like he himself said, he is paying his debt. He eventually fell for her but by then I already could not see them together, also because I knew she probably would not end up with him anyway.

It is true that people should not be too similar and one should complement the other for the relationship to work. But there are certain things where they need to be on the same page, and one of them is business/income, especially if they are working together. They would take work home and argue over that.

Like you said, the best solution would probably be for her to start her own company, tho she seems to work pretty well with NDS, maybe because he nods to everything she says. lol

Anyway, as someone who has parents that have very different takes on life and who have not divorced just because they are used to this life, I just cannot imagine HJP and DM being together. When I talked about them arguing, I did not mean small arguments. I meant arguments at the same level as DM parents had.

Anyway, although we seem to have very different opinions, we agree on one thing, this lie needs to end and DM needs to know the truth asap. She has been lied to for way too long.

Go figure. I have been watching dramas for 10 years and I still cannot understand what goes through writers’ minds. I just want the lie to be over asap. No relationship that starts based on a lie lasts for long. And at this point, everyone involved is not very likable to me, be it NDS, HJP or the grandmother. DM deserves to know the truth so she can make informed decisions. She is no longer a kid that is being comforted by a "white lie". She is an adult woman that is making decisions, like choosing her life partner, based on a lie. And that is not fair for any of them and will only cause them pain.

Technically he is impersonating someone who doesnt exist, someone who was created by grandma and HJP and that happened to have the same name as him. My problem with it is that they got into a relationship because she saw him as someone that did not exist. While he had the chance to know her as who she really is, she did not. She basically got together with a stranger who she thought she knew her entire life.

NDS should have not kept lying even if he was insecure and afraid of losing her. I cannot fully hate him though, for 2 reasons - 1st because I understand what he is feeling and most important 2nd - because he actually tried to tell her the truth early on but was stopped by grandma and HJP. All of them are hurting her by keeping this lie and at least, after watching episode 9’s preview, I think NDS will finally tell her the truth. Had he not done this, the way things were going, HJP would probably be the one to do it so he could have a chance to be with her. That seems to be the vibe I was getting after he pulled the "she left her hair tie in my car" stunt. And if that was the case, he would be no better than NDS and I would be disappointed cause it would be a clear attempt from the writers to make us dislike HJP and turn to the endgame - NDS.

Of course he might not be the one she ends up with, but my experience watching dramas for 10 years tells me that HJP was forced into the second male lead position from the start and DM will end up with NDS no matter what happens. But like I said, I could be wrong.

I see where you are coming from. I also dislike that their relationship started because of a lie and I wish there was no kiss until she actually knew the truth. That said, she was the one who initiated the kiss and the reason why she felt like doing it was not because of the Do San that sent her letters all those years, but because of the real Do San that stood up for her and got hurt just to get her out of a situation that was really hurtful for her. And that moment she was taken by a feeling that made her want to kiss him. So at least they did not kiss because of the way she felt about the fake Do San, but because of the way she felt at that moment.

That said, from the preview it seems like he will finally tell her the truth.
I just want her to put some space between her and both of them and let time show her who they are, who they really are, without lies, and then decide who she likes.

I am just glad this lie was not dragged any longer. If the writers made her find out like 2 episodes away from the end to then make her be with HJP for a while and then realize during the last 10 minutes of the last episode that she actually likes NDS and go back to him, I would be really mad. It would be unfair to HJP if she did that. I have seen this kind of thing happen so many times to second male leads, hopefully it will not be the case here.

Like you said, from the preview, it seems like he will tell her the truth. I dont see what he will say as an excuse and I am assuming she will probably ask him why he lied and he just answered, tho I am sure that was not the main reason. She just became too important for him and his fear of losing her was probably what made him keep lying. Selfish but relatable in some way. On the other hand, it seems like HJP is starting to also be selfish and wanting to be with her, but maybe it is a little late for that. He convinced someone else to join the lie that was created by him and her grandma and allowed Dal Mi to get into a relationship based on a lie. And now he wants her back? For me they are both on the wrong and at the end it will be up to Dal Mi to decide which one she wants to live her life with.

I personally cannot picture her with HJP for 2 main reasons:

1st - I see their relationship as more of a parental one, maybe because he is her mentor, and him as someone who looks out for her. I am unable to feel any romantic chemistry between them.

2nd - They are way too different. He is more down to earth, serious, realistic, strict and money driven. While she has dreams, is driven by other things that are not money and cares more about helping people than herself. If I explained this a different way, it would be that he is more about the results, while she is more about the journey to get to those results. He has shown this trait since the start. He never trusted Samsan Tech or the ideals of Dal Mi. At least Dal Mi and NDS believe in one another and that they will be able to reach their goals no matter how hard it will be. She is very similar to her father and HJP shows some traits that remind me of her mother. And we all know how that ended. I dont think they would be a compatible couple and would probably argue a lot since they have such different opinions.

That said, right now, neither of them deserves to be with her. I think she should get to know each of them as they really are and then decide who she really likes. She cant make a decision when her first interaction with both of them was based on a lie.

You are forgetting about when NDS wanted to tell the truth and was stopped by both the grandma and HJP. At the end of the day, I think all 3 are at fault and the only victim is Dal Mi.

That said, I dont get why people are making things complicated. Dal Mi fell in love with a letter dictated by her grandma. Whatever HJP wrote after would not make a difference, she was already in love. The person she fell in love with does not exist and her connection with HJP is based on a lie just like NDS.

At this point it is hard to decide who should be the one to come out and tell the truth - her grandma who started the lie or NDS who got into a relationship with her while keeping that lie. Like you said, HJP does not seem to be the right person to break it to her, but I have a feeling that might happen once he starts being really jealous and wants to be together with her. If he does that though, it will be kind of a jerk move.

I definitely think it should be either the grandma or NDS telling her the truth. The best would be if the both sat down with her and told her the truth. In that case, HJP being present would be ok since he is also involved and aware of the whole thing.

Let me just say something that will probably anger a lot of people.

The letter that made her fall in love was the first one, and the first one was dictated by her grandma who knew exactly what would touch Dal Mi’s heart and what would be relatable. This was also not the only letter that grandma dictated. By the time Ji Pyung started writing the letters by himself, she was already in love, in love with someone that did not exist. So, no, Ji Pyung is not the one she loves, the one she loves is the Do San that was created by her grandma and who was sustained by Ji Pyung lies throughout the years.

That said, people, come to the realization that her first love does not even exist. So what if Do San and her started with a lie (so did her connection with Ji Pyung)? At the end of the day they have been there for each other and have good chemistry. So I see nothing wrong with them being together as long as this lie is not maintained up until the last few episodes. I want her to get to know the real Do San and realize she still loves him even if he is not her "first love".

I am sorry if my comment has offended you in any way, but I am not going to enter a ship I know will either never set sail or will only sail for a short while and then sink. And I hope you dont either or you will not be able to enjoy this drama.

I have to say that I have not laughed this much for a while the way I did at the end of episode 3. Damn, I legit cried and started coughing, that was how much I laughed. I knew it was coming, but I still wasnt prepared for that level of video editing. XD
