I just realized on ep 12 that Lin Xi has a poster written in my native language (Portuguese) in her bedroom. That was so weird that for a moment I questioned if I was still watching a Chinese drama. XD
I know it was for the plot sake so they could tie certain characters and events together, but I still did not…
You did not understand my comment. I have been watching asian dramas for over 10 years, so of course I know about this cultural habit of arranged marriages. I am not questioning that, I am questioning the male lead’s change of heart which was completely out of character. That was a huge flaw in the story. It made his feelings for Hana and his previous efforts feel superficial.
I now understand why the subbers took longer subbing this compared to other dramas they were subbing. I dont blame them, I would not feel like subbing this drama either.
The idea behind it is not bad but I guess it was the execution that failed. I just felt bored. It is not like this was even a tearjerker like other dramas I have watched, it just felt like I was forcing myself to watch it. This kind of drama should be able to make me cry at least, make me feel some kind of emotion, but I was just bored the whole time.
In point number 5, are you talking about the gang rape? I want to watch this but I'm worried about the gang rape…
I dont even remember there being gang rape or even a tag for it when I watched. It has been almost 6 months so I cannot remember exactly.
I think it has to do with the character that is gay. He is completely different from what people think, like having a hidden side to him and he does a lot of evil and morally questionable things. I dont remember all the details but I know there is something shocking about him and its not the fact that he hides that he is gay, its something else that I cannot remember.
I was going to watch it but considering I am not particularly a fan of wuxia, neither hate it nor love it, and with most comments being negative, I think I will skip it.
Agree. That's why he's such a complex character that I haven't even figured out up to this day.
Hm, it depends. The story is good but the male lead can be a little cruel and then the next second he is kind. He is hard to figure out. The ending is tragic but there is a short second ending in modern times to try and compensate for that.
I always drop dramas....always...draggy.. filler...
Yeah. I hate dropping dramas so I usually just skip around and then watch the last episode just because I need closure. Chinese dramas can be a hit or miss for me since a lot of them are so long. There have been some that were like 60 episodes long with an amazing story so I barely skipped anything, but then there were others that just bored me out of my mind. This one seemed to be in the first group for a little bit then it turned into another draggy chinese drama. :(
The comments are only talking about one thing - how the actor playing the male lead is a huge waste of space. Of course that bothers me too, but I did not like his acting to begin with, I think I can remember 1 drama starred by him that I actually liked and it was not even because of him. I have no way of knowing if he is innocent or guilty when it comes to his previous scandal, what he cant hide tho, is that he is thirsty for women. He does not even try to hide it.
So yeah, he is 1 of the reasons I will not watch this. BUT, the plot also does not seem that interesting and I think the whole having not 1 but both main characters being fortunetellers playing cupid is kind of ridiculous and cheesy. So nope, this drama is not for me. But to whoever ends up watching it, I hope you enjoy it.
It started out interesting but it slowly felt like the plot was not consistent. For example, the female lead had a clear objective when she went to Chang’an, but instead of her actively trying to investigate, the answers just kept being conveniently delivered to her as the end of the drama was getting closer. The focus of the story was not always clear and the way the drama was wrapped up, in most part, made it seem like your average palace drama ending. Also, the Second Prince was just pitiful. The character that seemed to have the most, was the one who in reality had nothing. And the female lead, the main character, she barely has any background story to her. It was like she was built out of nothing, she has no origin. We have as much details about her as you would expect from a guest character. That was disappointing to me.
Of course not all was bad. I liked the main leads chemistry and the friendship built between the 5 of them. Overall, it was an ok drama, just not an amazing one.
Exactly. I had to google it to find the name of the movie. I just remembered the main actress since she has been on the spotlight a few times and not for the best reasons and remembered more or less what the story was about.
Its not a bad show, but it is not one that you will regret if you dont watch. I skipped a lot because I was either bored or frustrated with what was going on.
Seems like you didn’t understand the fact that his father being a murder stigmatized him within society which…
I do understand that fact. But he himself decided to walk on the same path just because of the words of another kid. No one decides his life for him. No one forced him to kill. I understand his internal struggles but at the end of the day it was only up to him to decide if he wanted to be a good person despite all that happened to him or become a killer.
People who get raped for example tend to follow 1 of 2 paths, they either become police officers or someone who can help other victims or become rapists themselves.
It was up to him to decide what he wanted to do with this life, and the fact that he tried to prove the male lead wrong by becoming a killer just doesnt make sense. My issue is not with his character, I felt bad for him several times. My problem is with whoever made most of the characters make dumb decisions. These were supposed to be intelligent people, but they were made out to be stupid, which frustrated me.
