I loved and hated this drama at the same time. Near the end it was mostly hate.
My problem with this drama and with so many other dramas about the republican era is that there are always characters we like that die for no good reason and the villains’ punishment is too soft compared to all the pain and suffering they caused.
So I have a love-hate relationship with this drama and I am not sure I would dare watch it again.

I doubt they will go to the trouble of fixing them. When people could contribute to the captions there was a chance of it happening, but YouTube removed that option. The only way we will get proper subs is if some fan decides to pick this drama.
Well, I found out about this drama after watching a YouTube video with a wedding scene of the male lead with Yao…
To be honest, I don’t remember. I know by the ending they were kind of on the same side but I do not remember if their relationship was really bad or not. But like the synopsis says, they have "different political stances and beliefs", so there is a high chance they dont really get along.
Is it worth the watch ? How is the romance plz ? Happy ending ? Thx
Like I said in my comment, its not a bad drama but it is unnecessarily long so the romance is also slow paced. About the ending, if it was not a happy one I would be ranting after going through 70 episodes of this. XD
The reviews and comments seem to consistently indicate that this is not a good drama and after watching the trailer I felt even more like this would not be my cup of tea so I guess I will skip on this one.
This drama’s biggest fault is that it does not feel like a drama at all. It feels like someone made a compilation of some of the best scenes of an actual drama and this was the result. 3 mins per episode with the music and everything is not long enough. There was little character development, we know almost nothing about the main leads and even less about the other characters.
This could have been a nice drama if it was 16-24 episodes long of around 45 mins each like most Chinese dramas. There would be more time for developing the characters and story.
Welp, for us the downhill started from ep 18 onwards once support characters started to dominate,
I have watched many light hearted romance dramas and this definitely is not one of them. Like you said, the focus is not even in the romance. The second leads probably appear more often than the amount of romantic scenes we get between the leads. There are also a lot of heavy themes and some deaths, so yup, not that light hearted.
I gave it a 6.5 and was being generous. I only re-watch dramas I rate above 7, preferably 8, 8.5 and up. If it was not for the way the FL was written, I would have probably given it like a 5. 😅
The way the drama went downhill around ep 30 makes me feel like 2 different people wrote the story. It started interesting, not amazing but good enough. But it gradually lost its direction.
I liked the way they wrote the FL’s character, but the plot itself did not meet my expectations, if I even had any.
Actually in the ending of the original, they do not end up together. So no relationship goals there.
Good. It was probably for the best. But from what I have been reading, this one seems to be going towards a direction where the main leads end up together even tho he is as toxic as the one from the original version.
I might be wrong tho. These are just my assumptions.
Yup. I put it on hold 4 episodes ago. I saw this coming and didn't want to participate anymore. I'll come back…
Yeah, I agree. The drama was going so well that I was starting to question things. For them to keep the story going they had to add something to drag things out...unfortunately they chose the old cliché of amnesia to do that.
Hopefully this amnesia will not last for too long or at least they will make the male lead fall for her again and kick the delusional woman out of the house...along with the greedy old woman. I cant stand those 2.
Not surprised, but yeah, the synopsis is misleading. Read the spoiler below to have an idea what this is about…
First, both main leads fall for each other around the same time, the male lead is just more active about it. Also, there wasnt even a convincing reason why he feel for her, he just did.
Second, she stays at his house for half of the drama without even actually getting married. The synopsis made it look like she would get married early on, without liking him while he chased her, but this was not what really happened.
Third and the worst part about this drama, throughout the 24 episodes there are 3 different women who all want the male lead and will play dirty to get him even going as far as ignoring the fact that he is ALREADY MARRIED. The 3rd woman is the worst since she is a princess and actually has power, so she causes the male lead to divorce the female lead and marry her. It was a mess.
So yeah, if you are looking for a romance full of fluff, this is not it. The last few episodes are mostly dramatic and frustrating and at some point you dont really care anymore about how it is going to end.

I was going to watch this until I realized this is a remake of Roy Ruk Raeng Kaen, drama which I refused to watch a few years ago when I came across it. I am not in the mood for toxic relationships that by the end of the drama somehow turn into relationship goals....no, thank you, I’m out.

Definitely a good one-time watch tho.
