Is it just me, or does Yu Zhong Li, who acted as Princess Qi Shu looks identical to Roh Jeong Eui. Maybe it was the make-up but when I first saw her, I was like- she look so familiar??

If you open up an episode of Qi Shu and then another page with Roh Jeong Eui side by side, they're the same person! lol.

For novel readers, does Changning get found? How bad is Qimin, and what happens between him and Qianqian later…
For what Qi Min did, if he had the face of Guo Dali the butcher, everyone in this comment section will summon the king of hell to get him. That's how bad it is.

I'd be on the side that say, don't change their relationship from the book.Qian Qian deserves better with how…
Sure!

So we all know he's pretty horrible, e.g really obsessive behavior. He locks her up and forbid Qian Qian from going out, torture her physically and emotionally. There was an "extra" chapter where the author decided to write what happened that causes Qi Min to be like that, I think the author intended the chapter t to be a redeemable quality for Qi Min, and I think the writer may of use that route, but we wouldn't know until then.

But as for his ending, he was under house arrest and Qian Qian came with a bowl of poison soup. He knew what it is and asked her to feed him it, because he HAS to die by her hand. While she's feeding him, he flared up over his insecurity and started to strangle her with his hands, saying how she betrayed him and how she has other men and etc. Essentially he's still batsht crazy lol. But anyhow, Qian Qian broke free, and Qi Min died due to the poison soup he consumed.

Even in the drama, he's already so controlling of her and we can see his obsessiveness. So I wouldn't want Qian Qian to be with him, like I mentioned, she deserves someone much better.

I know it's a drama and it's fun to imagine, but also imagine if it was Guo Dali, the butcher, who tortured Qian Qian, and kept appearing for 10 more episodes. The fans would of spam the writer being crazy lol.

If they changed the show from book enough for QianQian to have a happy ending with Qi Min I would not be mad AT…
I'd be on the side that say, don't change their relationship from the book.

Qian Qian deserves better with how she was treated, and Qi Min got off too light if you ask me.

I don't think I have ever liked a female lead as much as Fan Changyu. She is lovely, fights her own battles and…
The character itself is likeable too. She's humbled, decisive and really cared for her family, including the auntie and uncle. Also one of the reasons why alot of soldiers under her likes her. She's simple and honest, and treated them with respects.

****A small spoiler****

After finding out her husband was injured during a battle, she rushed to the army camp, armed with a cleaver, rush pass the guards, open the tent and said "Come back! don't be a soldier anymore, I'll slaughter pigs to provide for you!".

It was really adorable.

lol Dream big - she wants more pigs. This actress’ sense of humor is always on point
200 pigs is more than 100 pigs, math checks out. Can't blame a girl for wanting to support her husband.

When I was reading the novel, this Fan Changyu and Xie Zheng is exactly as how I'd imagine would look like in the drama.

Grade A++ casting tbh.

The director can add another awesome drama to his resume, I think the scenes and how it's being film is fantastic. I see that they used the same 'snow' as blossom :D.

The novel was good, I see the BTS for this is also in high production. Very much looking forward to it.

Also, the writer worked on Rises of the Phoenixes and Coroner's Diary???!! We're about to be eating goooodddd.

Maybe it's just me but it feels like she's sorta biting her tongue and doing things sorta diplomatically because…
I can see the writer intended that way. That's why I think she's tamed in here.

I think because the writer alter the story and therefore her personality has to change too. In the novel, her parents were quite nonchalant. Her father really doesn't care about anyone other than his daughter. And her mother is quite similar too.

Also, they're both really strong.

They're from a "reclusive mountain" where experts were plentiful so they don't care about anyone's opinion, plus her aunt was a certified badass too.

I think everyone can enjoy both drama and novel, but since I read the novel first, I was hoping it stay true to the source. But I guess people have different creative ideas.
On Generation to Generation Feb 24, 2026
I may need to re-read the novel again, because some parts seem different, it is not connecting. I wonder if the writer actually read the original source or just got a summary of it, and then make it her own.

I was really honestly looking forward to this drama because the novel was good.

Cai Zhao seemed really tamed in here. In the novel, she has a knack to piss people off, and it was really fun to see because she uses her wits and they cannot argue back.

The editing does feel a bit choppy at times, but otherwise it's really good. I don't know why some people say…
You're correct. It's the same in the novel. He acts very sneaky/off, and gives people wrong impressions.

I think the actor face looked too nice and cute, not menacing and twisted enough though. Because the ML is like that in the novel. Cheng Lei would of been perfect with his evil ass stares ಠ_ಠ. Hahah.
On Generation to Generation Feb 19, 2026
I wonder how much will they adapt from the novel or deviate from it. I just hope they don't dumb the FL, because she was quite smart. FL character reminds me of Hua Rong's (Legend of the Condor Hero) personality and characteristic. Intelligent, witty, carefree, strong in martial arts.

Also Bao Shang En did played as Hua Rong. Maybe her agency only dedicate smart female type roles for her? haha.

ML is also devious and scheming.

The novel was quite good.

Justice for Xie Yong Er!!! T_T.

Also, Wang Chu Ran titled little Liu Yi Fei is totally deserved. Her in that white dress is so strikingly similar to Liu Yi Fei when she played Xiao Long Nu. Crazy!

Was he really a player in the novel? I cannot imagine him having a child with Hong Shu if the one he likes is…
Hey! Not sure if your questions has been answered yet but I can try to provide some doubts. Although be warned that I have read this years ago, using machine translation! The drama did changed how XFN acted, toned him down a bit.

1) There is harem in the novel, however it's not to the point where he slept with everyone. I think the only person he slept with was Hong Shu and Jiang Ni. Since the novel is about 900 chapters long, all the characters had backgrounds. The female characters aren't just "all-over" XFN because it's a harem, they're actually strong on their own.

2) XFN really loved Hong Shu. She has a special identity that Xiao Xu knows, XFN found out later. I think she sacrificed herself for him. He found out she has a child very later on, she didn't tell him because she didn't want to worry him.

3) Xu Xiao was the general who helped the current King claimed this kingdom and therefore in the drama you see the King doesn't care what Xu Xiao do. They're that close. When he raided the palace, he killed all the females because he didn't want the army to violate them. He rescued Jiang Ni because she's was a child princess. That's why he paid no mind when she wanted to kill XFN, he knows she is just throwing a tantrum. However, XFN elder sister doesn't really like her. Her threat to Jiang Ni was real. If she touches XFN, she will die lol. Also, I don't think he was the one directly killing her parents, but he was a general so he's guilty by association.

4) XFN doesn't end up in seclusions, he took over for his father. He's really strong later on. Like really really strong.

If anyone has read this novel currently and wanted to correct some points, please feel free. It has been a while for me lol.

Ohsnap, Hu Yi Xuan is also in here!

Novel reader is Konghou really a princess.....if not why they said her a scorned princess of a fallen kingdom…
Based on the novel, she was a princess of the previous dynasty. Her Emperor father wasn't a good emperor and he got sacked by his subject, which is the current Emperor. However, the drama adaptation seems to be completely different than the novel so I am not sure how it is being portrayed here.

I was happy that the novel had a drama, but after watching it for a few episodes- I realized that the only thing similar is probably the title, character names, and some events. Otherwise, the writer just freestyled the drama. Which is a shame tbh.

I like the acting. A bit predictable, maybe because they follow similar formula as other crime show? lol.

Still fun to watch if you want some crime/mystery show.

Since they're hinting at season2, I am seated!
Season1 gets solved, so we're not in a cliff hanger FYI.
