The novel is pretty good. Seems like Bao ShengEn will always play an intelligent/smart character lol. Hopefully the adaptation doesn't take away too much from the novel.
Lu Yuxiao is great at acting and can control her facial expression really well. She was great in Blossom in Adversity and My Journey to You. I hope if there's a chance in the future where she'll take on a more serious/revenge role like Wu Ji Yan in The Double. I can definitely see that she'll be absolutely amazing in it.
The drama itself is an OK watch so far. I don't think the comedic tone is for me. I don't know if this make sense but I feel like the drama is trying to insert slight/aloof comedy within itself, rather than having it being natural?
Maybe because it's due to the funny editing sound that appear during scenes that sort of remind you "hey, here is the comedy part" lol.
Also, did they recruit people from the modeling agency or why is everybody so gorgeous lol. Reminds me of Fang of Fortune. In fact, I think the dungeon Ji Bozai used was from that drama too?
This drama is like a guess who game. Guess who? Me? No! wrong, it's you! No! it's me again. aha!
It's a great drama for those that like strategies, schemings, plot twists (although for some it might be predictable). All in all, fun mind games. I enjoyed it!
When I was reading this novel a while back. During the case of the Qin family and the 'well' incident I got goosebumps all over everytime the guards came back and say "We found something!" And it happened like 3-4 times until the plot revealed itself. That sht was crazyyyyy.
I am glad they didn't censored it and really delivered that in this drama. It's honestly a heartbreaking case and unfortunate. But as for dramatization goes, it's exciting and thrilling. lol.
The novel and drama deals with coroner, hence the name, so you'll see many cases like this. For some it's boring because 'too many' or 'repetitive', but others would find it enjoyable trying to figure out the mastermind or how the FL deals with the case. Each for their own.
Although, I am not sold on the romance being delivered here. They just seems like co-workers.

Yes it is, and the novel is quite good and enjoyable. I was hoping this will be a 40 episodes drama. I wonder what scene they are cutting. The female is a badass in the novel. Great banters from the ML -> FL. I hope they kept that in and the wittiness of the ML too. However it has been a while since I last read.
This seems like a movie that made into 6 episodes too long lol. It's pretty simple story, just revenge, no plot twist or crazy conspiracy. I enjoyed it. I knew this was based on a webtoon of how crazy the fights were, and also the MC not dying after getting stabbed so much. haha.
I love all the actors in here because I have seen all their shows. Honestly, it's crazy casting. All of them were once acted as a 'gangster' or 'bosses', so it's great to see such veterans reunion lol.
If you love those type of film or series, you should watch this. Nostalgia veterans are all in here!
1. My second time watching Zong Zuer, her acting is pretty good. China really doesn't lack in talents. 2. Liu Yu Ning is too good looking. 3. The generals and maids are a nice addition to add some personality to the show. Especially the advisor Mr Gongsun, he keeps telling the ML to apologize to his wife lol.
So far, the drama isn't too deep or scheming. I think it is just a right amount to watch and have fun with.
The drama should be its standalone from the novel, and treat it as an adaptation because that's what it is. Although I do understand non-novel readers perceptions regarding ML and FL doesn't have chemistry or feel loved. ML flirts alot of FL in the novel, and he basically caters to her, you can feel his love then.
But seems like the writer is wanting to add their own flavors and changed alot of events and characters, albeit keeping some key things of the plotline the same. I feel the novel readers' pain of not living the novel through drama. Hahah.
All in all? Just watch the drama as is, forget about the novel lol. You'll enjoy it more.
I think both can be enjoyable. I see JoL as the older brother who fights and has to navigate with court politics, much more dangerous, much more focus and mental energy. And GoD is the younger happy-go-lucky brother who is just enjoying his days and make some trouble here and there, with more comedy.

The more I look at Chen Ye Yuan, the more I could see him play as Zhang Ruoyun's younger brother lol.
