Keep in mind the other reason why the Emperor does it that way; he wanted to isolate Fan Xian from any other ally/support there is in Court. So in turn Fan Xian can and will only have the Emperor to obey/rely on. That was one of the Emperor's plan. Because now the entire Imperial Censorate hate Fan Xian.

Fan Xian will be taking care of the Palace Treasury and he is already the Chief of Overwatch Council, that's too much leverage and power for a young official. Emperor needs to keep it clean. He can't let another Minister Lin appear.

Haha. I think you're thinking of the actress and actor's real age/make up. Remember, they are only playing a character and so in the novel, their age is similar.

Her beef is that she has been wanting to kill FX as soon as she know who he is. She thinks the Palace Treasury belongs to her only, and don't want anyone else to take it. Take this back all the way when FX was a little kid in Dangzhou with his grandmother. Emperor tolerates her because that is his sister, but she kept crossing the line. With the scandal broke out in the Palace and couple with other things, the Emperor felt dissatisfied with her and moved her out of the Capital. I think she also violates something, but I forgot what it was.

We get to see FX really discovers that IF he wants a carefree live, he cannot just idle around and think "Well...if I just move out of here, then there's nothing to worry about". Wrong. The Fan family in Jingdu is famous, the Overwatch is famous, the Treasury has his name written on it. His loved ones are in Jingdu, he needs to protect them. He needs power and support. If he said he don't want it, would anyone believe him? No.

He's still in the process of trying to change the hierarchy in a way that commoners and people less fortunate than him gets a chance at justice, or even to live. It's the same as what YQM wished and so that was carved on the stone in front of the Overwatch Council. FX is trying to continue this tradition, and in doing so, he will no doubt headbutt with the Emperor. This is important for Season3. Additionally, he has to navigate in all directions and gather as many allies as he can. We see him offending all officials and trying to cement his footing in the court. He needs that credibility that "Im not here to just mess around". All of these are all important because that is how he gather military might, allies, and wage war with the Emperor in Season3.

It can be boring for some, and that is OK. It is alot more political than Season1. I wouldn't watch Season2 in the mindset that it is a stand alone. Im watching it in connection to Season1. Thinking about why some events like these are happening. Thinking of the underlying effect of said event. The scheme runs deep.

FX did all of these in order to have a carefree live in the end. The Qing Kingdom had a bounty on FX head, and the new Emperor had to visit him personally to tell him that, and his reply was "They know who I am, and they know who the Treasury belongs to. If they want my things, tell them come and get it". And the Emperor would just awkwardly scratch his head and said " ahah...Yes sir...".

1) Yes. 2) Yes. 3) Her taboo sidebae as I call it lol. Crown Prince had a fling with his auntie. In Season1 Fan Xian had the help of Overwatch Council to spread some malicious Palace rumors, the taboo subject within the Eldest Princess's palace. Said subject being 'she has a boy toy'.

So essentially Fan Xian married his cousin. And that's also the reason why all the Prince loved her (as a sister) and all court ladies adored her.

I think it made sense. Because he wasn't aiming for that anyhow. He just wanted to live carefree and happily with his loved ones. He ended the Qing's Emperor, I don't think any nation wanted to be the second, haha. He's pretty much the most powerful person at the end of the novel.

I think because he lost alot of weight. Remember that he just became a parent, so Im assuming that + filming (many dramas) took a toll on him lol.

I would say 90% season 1, 70% season 2.

The amount of times anyone has come here to watch the trailer, would be the same amount of episodes and runtime as the entire show. That's how long it has been...Q_Q

I think you mean Hong Zhu? The smart Eunuch? He is a loyal to only Fan Xian. As for who swap the names, not entirely sure. Anyone could be a suspect.

A pity that it is only 36 episodes and they seemed to combined some materials of the novel. However, it was still a good 36 episodes of a drama. (:

I hope they keep the darker tone for Season3, because that is where alot of killing and actions should take place!

Season 1 introduces us to Fan Xian
Season 2 show us to how Fan Xian consolidate this power and gaining allies
Season 3 should be Fan Xian using all of that to his advantage

Ahh yes, certainly. There is one snippet from the novel that I really really freaking hope they adapt in. Because it'll be soooo freaking cool.

Its the part where Fan Xian was ambushed outside the city, then the demeanor when he enters the city, literally drag corpses through the city, and started calling names out, and lit the fire under the government's ass. Oh man, that part was chilling and exciting, I hope they adapt it in.

I had the same reaction for season1. I thought the way they changed from novel vs drama was not great. However, after continuing watching them I realized that the adaptation made sense. Give and take; novel vs drama.

So I begin to watch it in the mindset that this drama is an adaptation; the essence will be there, but some things will change and that is OK. Season2 should lead to a more darker approach, if they are still following the novel and there are alot of messy schemes ahead. We're in for a rough time.

I'll wait for more episodes to maximize bingeing Q_Q.

I think the story is carried by the fabulous acting of actress and actor. Pretty standard Kdrama plotline, even for a 'life' drama: some misunderstandings, someone died (and happens to be either of the Lead's family), one family had a 'talk' with another lead to break up, backstabbing/cheating, etc You know the drill.

Actors and actresses had a script and they made the best of what they can do. Good to watch if you're craving some Kdrama.

Such lovely person! She gave us 20 years of happiness as an actress, now she gets to be a Mother! Wishing her and family the best!!!! She deserves it.

Lu Yu Xiao was great in this role. Hope she get more main cast in the future. She acted well.

TLDR for this drama is: Amazing costume designs, amazing choreography, great acting overall, OK story. One Brother is trying his best to not let the Gong's family be destroy, while the other Brother is trying his best to wife someone through this mess. Priority.

I love the novel, and I hope yall enjoy the second season as well :D. His 'fake death' was not in the novel, so I would like to see how the director spins it.

A bit of Blood of Youth and Detective Dee combination. This feels like a detective series more than anything lol. Rain Wang did great for her character Jiao Li Qiao, she's pretty and she's freaking nuts. A pretty nut? lmao. Only female character in here who has a personality.

Most characters here are pretty dull and boring. actions and choreography good. Main cast acting is good. Some cases they solved are pretty interesting. I think you'd enjoy it if you like detective/mystery or is a fan of the casts.
