I can't see anyone that could pull off Xu Lan Xiang besides Tan Song Yun. Truly the greats of her generation~
Also, couldn't believe that I didn't noticed Liu Xue Yi was also in Blood of Youth. He was the bald guy!! I love that guy lol. Didn't notice until half of this drama!
Damn. Episode 38 hits like a truck, especially when Lan Xiang said "that's right.. today is Lady Shen's birthday... I forgot". She has been in the role of Lan Xiang for so long that she completely forgot her own birthday... But it's great that her husband remembers it. He doesn't know her true identity, so all the things he did for the Shen family was purely out of his heart.
Jinqi's mother was kind to the concubine's children. And, the grandfather was always present in their lives and…
Yeah!! Definitely. Just recently saw the latest episode and I completely understood why the grandfather is so strict on protocol or family values.
A family is just one error away from being sacked by the Emperor. So he needs his grandsons to all be in their best behavior at all times. And also since he will be 'leading' the family, all hopes are on ML, he really cannot F* this up.
So far, I've really like how some of ML's family members acted. Especially with the 2 sisters. Even though 1 was fooled and created some trouble, she's still listened to the ML and behave, so I hope she gets a better future. And then the other one who married the General in her place, also still cares for the family alot.
So they seems to have really good brother and sisters relationships. Not to mentioned the other brothers were willing to help create ruckus when ML was kneeling because he married the FL. Not many drama where you see this. It has always been family members who's nasty with each other.
I loved how Lin Jin Qi was petty and immediately called out to her as “Lan Xiang”, which is her given name…
Ah is that what it was? I heard it but I thought I misheard since her name was Lan Xiang, but I forgot her family name is "Xu", and normally you'll address them as such in respects: Like Mr Jin, Mr Lu, and etc.
Is it just me, or does Yu Zhong Li, who acted as Princess Qi Shu looks identical to Roh Jeong Eui. Maybe it was the make-up but when I first saw her, I was like- she look so familiar??
If you open up an episode of Qi Shu and then another page with Roh Jeong Eui side by side, they're the same person! lol.
For novel readers, does Changning get found? How bad is Qimin, and what happens between him and Qianqian later…
For what Qi Min did, if he had the face of Guo Dali the butcher, everyone in this comment section will summon the king of hell to get him. That's how bad it is.
I'd be on the side that say, don't change their relationship from the book.Qian Qian deserves better with how…
Sure!
So we all know he's pretty horrible, e.g really obsessive behavior. He locks her up and forbid Qian Qian from going out, torture her physically and emotionally. There was an "extra" chapter where the author decided to write what happened that causes Qi Min to be like that, I think the author intended the chapter t to be a redeemable quality for Qi Min, and I think the writer may of use that route, but we wouldn't know until then.
But as for his ending, he was under house arrest and Qian Qian came with a bowl of poison soup. He knew what it is and asked her to feed him it, because he HAS to die by her hand. While she's feeding him, he flared up over his insecurity and started to strangle her with his hands, saying how she betrayed him and how she has other men and etc. Essentially he's still batsht crazy lol. But anyhow, Qian Qian broke free, and Qi Min died due to the poison soup he consumed.
Even in the drama, he's already so controlling of her and we can see his obsessiveness. So I wouldn't want Qian Qian to be with him, like I mentioned, she deserves someone much better.
I know it's a drama and it's fun to imagine, but also imagine if it was Guo Dali, the butcher, who tortured Qian Qian, and kept appearing for 10 more episodes. The fans would of spam the writer being crazy lol.
I don't think I have ever liked a female lead as much as Fan Changyu. She is lovely, fights her own battles and…
The character itself is likeable too. She's humbled, decisive and really cared for her family, including the auntie and uncle. Also one of the reasons why alot of soldiers under her likes her. She's simple and honest, and treated them with respects.
****A small spoiler****
After finding out her husband was injured during a battle, she rushed to the army camp, armed with a cleaver, rush pass the guards, open the tent and said "Come back! don't be a soldier anymore, I'll slaughter pigs to provide for you!".
When I was reading the novel, this Fan Changyu and Xie Zheng is exactly as how I'd imagine would look like in the drama.
Grade A++ casting tbh.
The director can add another awesome drama to his resume, I think the scenes and how it's being film is fantastic. I see that they used the same 'snow' as blossom :D.
Maybe it's just me but it feels like she's sorta biting her tongue and doing things sorta diplomatically because…
I can see the writer intended that way. That's why I think she's tamed in here.
I think because the writer alter the story and therefore her personality has to change too. In the novel, her parents were quite nonchalant. Her father really doesn't care about anyone other than his daughter. And her mother is quite similar too.
Also, they're both really strong.
They're from a "reclusive mountain" where experts were plentiful so they don't care about anyone's opinion, plus her aunt was a certified badass too.
I think everyone can enjoy both drama and novel, but since I read the novel first, I was hoping it stay true to the source. But I guess people have different creative ideas.

Good man!
He said let's see if she can make 500 taels of silver in 3 months, BAM, she paid him back 3 months later.
His face was like "... are you kidding me?" lol. Your wife is too smart man.

Li Meng as Zhao Xing Tang :D
The acting is so good damn. They loved their daughters dearly. I hope they reborn with wealth in the next drama... ._.

Qian Qian deserves better with how she was treated, and Qi Min got off too light if you ask me.

Also, the writer worked on Rises of the Phoenixes and Coroner's Diary???!! We're about to be eating goooodddd.
