It's been weeks, so I assumed it safe to try and rewatch an episode. Ended up crying almost the entirety of ep 26, which wasn't even a particularly sad one. That was so unlike me. Maybe it hasn't been long enough 😅 Time for some healthy reading I guess lol
In the book, BDJ gives him a good beating (I mean punches and kicks) in front of the officials, and downgrades his cultivation level. It felt pretty satisfying but sadly, wasn't shown in here.
DY's story happens before TBOY. So if you want to see everything in chronological order, you can start with this.BDJ…
You're saying that like all the 8 were dumped on us in the first episode 😄 Out of 8, iirc, one was introduced in ep 14, another in ep 33. Among the remaining 6, 3 were already well known from TBOY, still they too had pretty memorable introductions. Third young master even had two episodes about him.
I agree tho, their grown up versions didn't seem as caring about each other as their younger versions. Not even close. You're not alone. That's a flaw of the story.

Hmm. It felt same as TBOY to me in that regard. As in, starting with 2 characters and gradually adding more. For me, it was the clan names instead. There were too many, and rarely translated. But I suppose that's normal in Wuxia.
i adore that kid, but not only us, all 5 of the characters too, all of us moved on from it with a snap 😭
Exactly. Idk maybe they were scared of how interesting ZY and BJ's relationship was at the beginning. I've heard manoundy times people say that they found ZY and BJ's bickering more fun than the ZYC x BJ friendship. And from the videos I've seen, those two's bickering cuts got the most views. Even more than the bromance fanmades. I cant think of a reason any sane writer would ruin that promising dynamic.

I agree. They just could do much better. What I find weird is that BJ acknowledged what he did to ZY and that he should make it up to him, only once, and (SPOILES if you haven't watched past ep 23) even that turned out not to be the real BJ. It's like the writer's saying "I know he should say it, but I won't have him say it".
I'll surely watch this someday, if only for the seemingly perfect casting of Xiao Wu
We'll be able to move on someday. With time.
I hope 😅
