Honestly I'm only halfway through, so I've yet to see the details of how Tai'an handled his succession that ultimately caused his favorite son's death. But the way Mingde handled his was genius.
If he wanted to stay low profile, he shouldn't have used that sword technique. Wasn't the Qiulubai something he'd…
Frankly I'm not sure exactly which wine he asked for either, but I recon as soon as BDJ's eyes would fall on the 12 years old QLB, he wouldn't be able to let go.
just realized something.... if only sikong changfeng didn't go for that qiulubai that's been taken care of for…

so happy ending or sad.. why everyone so mad about the show ?
Happy ending for main couple and for DY-only watchers. Because they changed the ending. Or rather, this isn't the actual ending if you've watched the sequel. Whether BDJ fans find solace in it or not, I can't say.
Not everyone is upset, but those who are, feel so for different reasons; Some are disappointed saying it failed the sequel, some hate that they skipped important events, some feel annoyed that they messed up the timeline, some hate the changes to the og story/characters, some feel upset that a character got no justice before death, etc.

True. In essence, he's like Xiao Se. Except they had enough room to explore XS's character thoroughly, while they didn't highlight Langya's warrior side as much as his political one. So viewers who didn't watch TBOY got the idea that he's first a politician. Granted, he's politically wise, but the image TBOY painted of him was a martial artist prince who knew politics, not a politician who knew martial arts.
For instance (and this is iirc), when talk was of the no. 1 sword, the first thing Xiao Se said, was "even uncle Langya couldn't get that sword". Another time, XC asked the marquis if "uncle Langya looked this magnificent returning home victorious". He was always mentioned with his battle victories and martial arts, which DY didn't really highlight.
I have not followed or watched any shows with any of the actors or actresses from above. I see that there are…
If only reviews could be trusted, how much easier it'd be to find good dramas.
TLDR: Not sure if this one is worth it but its sequel is worth it, so... up to you.
The problem is, this is the prequel to TBOY (which I can comfortably say is unique and fun, which makes it a must watch in my book), so by logic, you should watch this first. But no matter how much I analyze, DY doesn't seem to have been written by the same author. It does have its merits, like much better cinematography and being overall more beautiful, but lacks almost everything that was unique and special about TBOY. For example, in TBOY I couldn't even hate my favorite character's killer, because there was much more to that, but here, most characters are just one-dimensional, either good or evil. With the exception of a few like YDZ and XRF. (Funnily enough, XRF is actually supposed to be not gray but pretty righteou, judging by TBOY's description of him). A lot of the dialogue in TBOY had another layer to them. And the humor was witty. But DY lacks all of that except for a couple of scenes. Of course this is all just my view.
Checked your list to try and judge if this one is your cuppa and wow! You've watched so many! You HAVE watched something with this cast, tho. Bai Shu was the snake deity in Love and Redemption.)
If you've watched the sequel, no. Otherwise, yes.(For both of your questions)
Some characters behave contradictory to the impression I got of them in TBOY. For me, it took a lot away from the story, as I felt forced to choose one as canon, for which I'd always choose TBOY, because these characters were more layered and interesting in there.
Ending for some characters changed from sad to happy. But if you remember TBOY, you'll know their ultimate fate.
Ep 14 and 15 a certain female character raising red flags left and right and the supposedly smart survivor's oblivious. First the "love at first sight" love line and now this. What's worse is they dedicate way too much screentime to these boring tropes
hi! can any one say is it worth it to watch this drama because i dont want to effect my impression oh the blood…
So far it's made me appreciate the sequel more, because I only realized halfway through DY just how unique TBOY's dialogue, music and character development was. It made me even appreciate the half baked romance in there. But (from the bits I've spoiled myself) it'll probably ruin Mingde emperor for me. He was pretty clever in TBOY (maybe even wise) but looks like he's gonna make some very dumb decisions later on this season. Seems to be the case for several other characters.

But thanks for explaining🍀

Hence my answer.
