Started this one with almost no prior knowledge (except a youtuber calling it video-gamey. As in throwing shade. It actually got me interested.) still, I thought this was gonna feel childish like LBFAD's first episode did to me and was determined to at least finish one full episode this time, before probably deciding Xianxia isn't for me anymore.

Which ep did you stop at? Last three were rushed, besides too much made up screentime for Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue. Plus (minor spoiler) they killed off a character who had originally survived in the book while those who weren't supposed to, survived.
Asura TS, new outfits and song were great, though, which makes it all more puzzling. Why spend so much budget if you're gonna only use it for one episode.

Totally agreed. I remember a lot of people complaining about the wigs and props. But the story had a beautifully tragic feel to it. Ice Fantasy I mean. Maybe someday it'll be remade. I don't understand why they won't invest in Soul Land properly. It's apparent TJSS is an influential writer. But then again, I never figured out why they went crazy over the donghua's last 3 episodes, after they'd done pretty well in the previous 260. Tencent things I guess. sigh~
