Why does Jaehi work with the cops? Why is juwon so bent on DS? Why does he think himself clever when all he does…
[Why does Jaeyi work with the cops?]

- It's been established that Manyang works together as a community. They don't operate by the book. Jaeyi is a smart girl as we have seen her figure out who texted Jinmook using Minjung's phone. She's been very much connected with the Manyang police since her mother's disappearance. They also use her butcher shop as a meeting place. One of the drama's taglines is the willingness to throw law and principle in order to find who the monster is.

[Why is juwon so bent on DS? Why does he think himself clever when all he does is fabricate evidence, which just won't stand in court but even drag his father in the mud? He is not really smart, is he?]

- If you will look at things from HJW's POV his actions actually make a whole lot of sense? We've seen LDS's POV so we are completely aware he isn't the culprit. But the thing is, HJW doesn't have the access we have in watching LDS's entire backstory. All he has are evidences which are leading to LDS. Which LDS deliberately made to lead to him in the first place cos he wants to use HJW's connection to get the case solved.

- HJW is not stupid. He is actually very smart for figuring out a bunch of things by himself. He figured out LDS stole the case files. He figured out that it's really LDS who moved the fingers. He figured out all on his own that Jaeyi's mom was actually a victim too. At the end of the day, Dongshik still committed a crime by tampering with the evidences to get her sister's case solved instead of immediately reporting what happened. Had he reported what happened, Minjung would have lived.

- Now I'll address HJW fabricating the evidences. I assume you mean the one with Chief Nam Sangbae, AKA the only time HJW fabricated evidences. When he was in Busan he realized that the Chief knew something about Kang Jinmook's death. So he created another bait, a bait that followed LDS's early moves to lure HJW in the case. This time, he is making the exact same moves that LDS did in the beginning to lure LDS into doubting the other Manyang people. Because the Manyang community is obviously hiding something. He made all these moves, like sending an email to Jaeyi and looking directly at the CCTV, to let Dongshik know that yup, it's really Joowon behind all these moves and Dongshik won't be able to prove it was him. Joowon sent the email from the internet cafe in his officetel, but Dongshik, don't have access to the CCTV in the internet cafe. He won't be able to prove it was Joowon. Joowon looked at the CCTV, what was wrong with that? A bunch of people went in and out of the Chief's office that night. Again, nothing to connect the action of placing the fabricated evidences to Joowon.

- Han Joowon is a very smart character, but what he lacked at the beginning of this show is the wisdom and experience. He is rather booksmart, not streetsmart. He is still very young and he made some very reckless decisions which he eventually learned from.

[Why are all the disabled in the show 'faking' it and they are the actual serial killers? Is Juwon next?? (it is a FAR FAR SHOT from 'the ususal suspects... how they butchered my boy!!!)]

- Faking disabilities actually makes these people even more awful. And what disability Joowon has? What? "Oooh I'll just namedrop a very popular movie by a pedophile so I can sound vErY sMarT!!11!" Oh, get over yourself. You can't even understand the most basic things in this drama.

[Why the f*ck is everyone so goddamned smug? Why are useless miniquests being formed as a filler?? WHY?]

- Everyone? Are you sure? List every character and every "smug" thing they have done, go ahead. And when these people are being smug, have you even bothered to understand what they are being smug for? Or are you just too busy making a counter in your head you didn't bother to understand the point of what you're watching?

[What's up with everyone shitting on HJW's 'brother'? They all know in all interactions they are playing each other- but it's not in a 'deathnote' sense but like cringy 13 year olds!!! ]

- Everyone shitting on Hyeok? You mean HJW and his father? That's your everyone or are you talking about the viewers? I mean Hyeok really is obviously trying to climb his way up to the top and those at the top are looking down on him. Hyeok has his motivations for toadying to Joowon's family and his obvious toadying makes them look down on him. The characters in this drama aren't pure black and white. They are morally grey characters who do a range of things whether it be righteous or questionable.

[HOW CAN ANYONE CONSIDER THAT A THRILLER?? A MASTERPIECE??]

- Because it is a masterpiece to the people who said it is a masterpiece, whether you agree or not. Not the fault of the majority that you disagree, nothing we can do about it. I mean, that's your problem, man.

[Seeing the twist writer ajjuma is dishing out, I wouldn't be surprised if the hairdo-gambling club is working with the mafia, and is actually behind the killings!!!]

- Well I wish you all the best on your theory!

Sincerely, a person who believes Beyond Evil is a masterpiece so far based on Eps 1-12. My opinion may or may not change depending on how the writer concludes the story. But so far, I'm loving it.

I heard so many people talking about how they are not enjoying mouse, and said this drama is fantastic, and much…
I'd say give it a try at least until Ep 7 because that is when you will realize how carefully the writer has crafted on what happened on the night of Minjung's murder. If you can't wait until then, that's okay too. ^^

Here is also a comment on reddit from user teamautumn which perfectly describes what I love about this drama.

"I liked Beyond Evil from the beginning.
I started loving it in Episode 4.
I was deep in love by Episode 6.
I became **obsessed** in the first few minutes of Episode 7.
I now live and breathe Beyond Evil after Episode 8.
I basically live inside Dongshik's mind now. I feel like I live in Manyang with the rest of the miserable folks ? Episode 9 & 10

Beyond Evil doesn't give the audience cheap thrills. It doesn't use sensationalized action or violence to draw the viewers in. Yes they are trying to figure out who the killer is, but that's only a small part of the story. The drama is more about the people outside of the killer and victim. How did these events affect them, how are they living with this trauma, how are they related to each other, and how everyone is involved even if they didn't kill someone directly.

My description doesn't make Beyond Evil sound very fun. lol So what makes Beyond Evil fun? It's one of those dramas when you find out the truth, you immediately rewatch the previous episodes and you start seeing the clues the drama already showed. I just didn't know what I were watching until I found out what I was looking for. Then you see the cleverness of the writer/director and are amazed at the level of detail they put into this work. Plus, the acting is phenomenal and the music is so good.

Oh and there are definitely really exciting and scary scenes. It's just that those scenes are about 20% of the drama."

All I know is that this drama has been very consistent with every piece of info that has been released so far.…
It's been established earlier on that Yuyeon had been ran over repeatedly. One would think someone must've wanted her to die so bad to kill her so cruely. Turns out, Han Kihwan did a hit and run on her. And PJJ ran over her agan while drunk. It's been established earlier that he was also drinking on the night of Yuyeon's murder.

There are still 4 episodes left that will further explain what fully happened and I'm really looking forward to it.

All I know is that this drama has been very consistent with every piece of info that has been released so far. This drama is also very well-researched with 8 script consultants and 6 production consultants from different police stations, ranks, divisions.

Also, Beyond Evil is releasing script books in 3 volumes. Vols 1-2 are the scripts for Eps 1-16 and 3rd volume is called secret writer's notes which include a bunch of details involved in this drama including autopsies, case files, text messages, characters bakckground info among others.

So much details went into the making of the drama and it really shows which is why I'm enjoying it so much.

She isn't the scriptwriter for The Light in Your Eyes. The English sites have mixed up the writer of Beyond Evil and writer of The Light in Your Eyes because they have the same name. If you will check their Korean profiles, you will find that they are different people.

I really appreciate how the reveals in this drama are consistent with the established narrative right from the beginning. All the main players are introduced from the get go and with every episode, they each lay out their own pieces of the puzzle that eventually show the big picture of what actually happened.

There's nothing groundbreaking about the whole plot of this drama, but the brilliance in this show lies in the storytelling and how morally grey and beautifully complex the characters are. The writer already had her full picture prepared and that's when she broke it down into pieces, throwing in the bits at us whenever the time's right. A lot of writers tend to start out with all these mindblowing plots and setups but without any prepared end in sight so they just BS their way up as they go. But here, there are no scenes wasted, everything is important because they all build up to somewhere.

I'm so excited (and very sad at the same time) for this drama to end because the rewatch value in this is going to be REALLY GREAT. I really hope the last 4 episodes continue to be splendid.

Beyond Evil is going to be released worldwide on Netflix on April 11, immediately the day after it ends its broadcast in Korea. I hope people who are capable of watching this drama legally will support it through the official platforms. Normally kdramas take a couple of months before they are released on netflix (unless the drama is produced by netflix or the production has a partnership with netflix), and the word of mouth it has received in Korea is a testament to how good this drama is, to the point that it's immediately going to netflix right after it ends. I think JTBC kinda regrets not giving this show the push it deserved much sooner.

I know there's no romance here but i'm still rooting for Jaeyi and Joowon hahaha
They're cute and they understand each other really well. Their interactions don't feel forced. Whether they end up as good friends or something more at the end, I'm all for it.

The problems he created, lol no, he is being nosy yes but the problem was there since the beginning & only just…
Indeed, it's also funny how to some people, morally grey = badly written when being morally grey is what makes the characters far more interesting than just being plain old goody two shoes.

I understand HJW had flaws in his personality with his arrogance and initially seeing things as black and white. But despite all that, the actions and suspicions he had in the beginning still made sense from the POV of his character. When LDS found out that HJW was desperate to solve the case because of his guilt, he should've made his stance clear already at that point and yet he had to wait until Jaeyi was in danger before telling Joowon the truth.

What never sat right with me was how people insulted Joowon's intelligence calling him stupid and useless. He may have been arrogant, rude, entitled, saw things as black and white but he also had to figure out every bit of missing information on his own while LDS was deliberately making himself suspicious and Manyang ppl obviously covering up dirty truths behind their strong community. All his actions made sense from his POV who never had access to watching LDS backstory.

And even if he used the chief as a bait, NSB's death also has nothing to do with HJW. If anything, if he didn't use NSB as bait, he wouldn't have thought of tracking NSB and they would never have found his body. So what exactly should HJW be kneeling to LDS for? Is this person saying 7yo HJW was driving the car the night YY died or something?

Even with his character growth people will just villify his every action just for the sake of it.
