Totally enjoyed Ep 7-8~
- that adorable flashback of young Jungwon and Haesung meeting again in highschool after years
- Minjoon dramatically crashing into a pushcart and subsequently being hit on the head by a pumpkin and mistaking the sweet potato for his phone LOOOL
- Haesung's unintentional hearty apple slices for Minjoon, aww
- Hobang and Jinju. Enough said.
- Haesung as an uncle~ Aww, so Gongju is actually Haechul's daughter
- the end though... it must've had something to do with Minjoon's father's presence that caused that sudden attack on Haesung. T_T I thought my heart was gonna explode too during that scene.
The scenes where Jungwon meets her mother in both past and present show how lacking Lee Yeonhee as the lead.I mean Jung Chaeyeon is still a rookie while Lee Yeonhee has led a couple of dramas now, but still JCY sells her character way better than LYH.
Watching Ep 5, I liked the scene with young Jungwon + Haesung, but overall the episode felt so rushed, in a way that I could feel they didn't have enough time to film this thing and that the editing was done in a hurry. I liked Ep 6 better, the moments that's supposed to be funny were actually funny: that part where Haesung was drunk-pointing at everyone, the cliche k-drama moment between Hobang and Jinju at the restaurant.. and I also cried at the scene where Haesung realizes that none of his siblings felt happy to see him back. Yeo Jingoo's just so good, that you could just tell how broken he felt. T_T
I really really like this... My precious Jin Goo, whenever I see him smile I smile, and when ever I see him cry…
I cried when he was drunk-talking about none of his siblings were happy/thankful to see him. So I cried again when he was crying cos his friends were so happy to see him back. Haesung-ahhhhh T_T
LOVED the transition in ep. 11 from year 2017 to 2037, however much of a tearjerker that actually was.
Exactly. I got another goosebumps when in the 12th episode, they changed the title to "Circle: One World" instead of "Circle: Two Connected Worlds."
And totally! The acting was so superb during the slowmo part when he got hit by the car. He was probably in some harness being swayed during filming... but the emotions he showed were so on point! Yeo Jingoo is just extraordinarily amazing. I know he's quite well-known for his acting and is praised for it... but I still feel how underrated he is given how this show didn't get the ratings it deserved. How could people have slept on his fantastic performance here in Circle.
I honestly don't understand why people see this drama as low budget? Sure, they didn't use much CGI…
This is what makes me love Circle more. Despite not being able to show superb CG and not getting the promotion it deserved, the story and acting more than made up for it that I didn't care about the CG at all. And that's what matters to me. I've seen lots of dramas/movies with amazing CG with bad story/acting... and it just proves CG isn't everything. Graphic effects are only there to make the story shine more, but in case of Circle, the story's doing well enough for itself, and I've seen much worse CG tbh. XD
There are a couple of instances where I wish she would she would express Jungwon's feelings more. It's not just about being able to produce tears, but actually expressing the emotions behind those tears, and she's still lacking imo. I think the young Jungwon is doing a much better job even if Jung Chaeyeon doesn't have as much experience as Lee Yeonhee. Like what I said previously, I feel LYH is still being too conscious that she's playing a role, instead of being one with the character.
I don't know... but when I was watching the scene where Haesung was telling her it's not her fault and she actually started out the sceme fine... then she just stayed in that starting line instead of pushing it all the way through. Her performance there kinda fell flat to me. I mean her character is someone who's lived through 12 years of guilt and here's the guy who's the root of all those guilty feelings telling her she didn't do anything wrong and that she shouldn't blame herself... and yet her acting still feels bottled up and that she's just forcing her tears to come out. Instead of getting feels from the scene, I felt like a stage mother begging in front of my laptop, "More... more... please show more of Jungwon's pain!"
Opinions are subjective though, so some will find her acting alright, while others will not. That's just what I thought of while watching that scene.
I'm sorry but that "you're still ugly Jung Jungwon" at the end of episode 4 made me want to…
And that he's now in 2017 instead of 2005. I feel like he should've had a bit more of an identity crisis or something of the sort... But maybe the writer already wanted to move on to other things and didn't want to linger on that.
LOVED the transition in ep. 11 from year 2017 to 2037, however much of a tearjerker that actually was.
It's soooo smooth and natural, right? I was so mind blown when that transition happened. This episode made me cry so much, but I have to say it's also my favorite episode.
I honestly don't understand why people see this drama as low budget? Sure, they didn't use much CGI…
The PD himself said that they didn't have enough budget/time to make better CGI than what they did here and he feels it's such a pity. When the first episode aired, the show has been criticized for its CG. Personally, while it's good enough for me, I do see how they are aiming for something better, but it's just that their budget and time wouldn't allow it. They started filming at the end of March and this drama aired in May. It's not that this drama is low budget in general, but that its budget is low for a sci-fi drama.
TBH, Circle also didn't receive as much promos as it should've had. Circle hasn't aired yet, but tvN was already promoting Bride of the Water God more, on their social media sites, Circle didn't get much posts compared to their other shows... I understand that there are only 12 episodes... but this show also had only 2 OST tracks (which I both love so much), and one of them is a remake song.
Although on the other hand, while it's a bit of a shame, but I'm so glad this show wasn't media-played and that rather than grand CGI... this show carried itself through its story and acting. That's something I'm absolutely thankful for.
I feel like I'm watching 2 different dramas; a supernatural suspense about family and friends with Jin Goo,…
I really find it so hard to connect and sympathize with the adult Jungwon. Like, she went through so much for the guilt and even ended up being in a huge debt because of that... but I still don't feel enough of her pain.
I'm already at a point where I'm skipping all the Lee Yeonhee and Ahn Jaehyun scenes. :( LYH's fine when she's with the other cast.. but having 2 not-so-good-actors acting side by side then the bad acting becomes too obvious.
There are moments when LYH's alright though... like her reaction when she accidentally cut her bangs was so adorable, and her crying scenes are not bad. I wish she'd be more consistent and less conscious. Her acting feels too controlled like when she's talking and her mouth looks a bit too stiff to me.
I want more Chaeyeon-Jingoo scenes though~ JCY is doing a good job so far to me. Especially when she was crying </3
And the scene at the railway with Yeo Jingoo and Lee Sieon was amazing. Yeo Jingoo just keeps showing different sides to his acting each time... I'm really always amazed by him. And Kwak Dongyeon's short encounter with Yeo Jingoo as well. BOTH WERE SPECTACULAR in that scene!
@KatySarang_TGeyes Yup Yeo Jingoo's awesome! It's just the older female lead gives the vibes that she's too conscious that she's acting... so her acting doesn't give a natural feel. But yeah, each to their own. I love Jingoo's chemistry so far with the younger one though. They look adorable. :D
So I really enjoyed the first two episodes. I will say something though, it seems like this is more focused on…
Yeo Jingoo is a selfless and loving brother once again, but absolutely no complaints here. I love how he has a happy life with his siblings and I agree, I want more of them. Hope there will be lesser of the older version of the girl and more of the younger one... Lee Yeonhee's just really not improving.
episode 1 1st half ... mysterious enough 2nd half ...the comedy is weird and unfunny do next episode and above…
The tones in Parts 1 & 2 are so different in the start and I've always preferred Part 1 to Part 2... but slowly, the 2 parts become more connected and it's really worth watching how the pieces come together.
I enjoyed the first episode, although I really wish they could've picked a better female lead than Lee Yeonhee.…
Aww, that's sad, but really understandable. Hope to see you in Jingoo's future project. T_T
Lee Yeonhee's terrible. What were the casting people thinking?? Her scenes made me cringe a lot tbh... And to think she's gonna have more scenes with another bad actor. Sigh... The least they could've done was pick a decent female lead. OTL
I enjoyed the first episode, although I really wish they could've picked a better female lead than Lee Yeonhee. Her stiff expressions are quite hard to watch and you could sense how conscious she is that she's playing a role, instead of being that character.
Yeo Jingoo is soooo handsome and amazing, as expected. I love those cute moments he has with young Jungwon, they really have an adorable friendship. I love how they look out for one another and how she teases him a lot and YJG getting flustered is soo cutee~~
The adult version of the group of friends are awesome too, especially Hobang and Jinju~ Miles better than the female lead and the male second lead, unfortunately. I love that scene where Jinju is bickering with Hobang and how she whines to her friends. Also the scene where Hobang sees Haesung in the CR is so hilarious. His expressions are so spot on. :D
The story is pretty interesting and the show just looks so pretty overall with the beautiful scenery and warm relationship among the characters.
My cinnamon roll again after Circle, he got hit by a car and stuck in the same age forever.....but Ill give it…
I prefer the younger version too by so much... I'm totally not feeling the adult version of the female lead nor the second male lead. While watching their scenes, all I could keep on thinking was, "More.... more... just a little bit more..." I felt like a frustrated stage mother.
YJG's acting is really good... I'm happy he's doing the role of a warm and happy person this time. You could count by the fingers the amount of times he smiled in Circle, but here he keeps laughing and I really love his relationship with the young Jungwon. They have really good chemistry, even if the actress is still a little green.
To be fair, I don't think YJG was aware of what was gonna happen to Kim Woojin when he chose this project. He was only halfway through filming for Circle when he picked this project and the script for Circle was still unfinished at the time. The overlapping coincides with Ep 11, which is already the penultimate episode.
More than anything, I'm rather disappointed with the lead actress they chose. How come her expressions are so stiff, it's kinda frustrating to watch.
