Maybe he is talking to a former friend/opponent. He is speaking to “ someone” across from a go board. Probably a friend/opponent who has passed away, possibly by his hand. It will be an interesting twist if it was the ML‘s father that he is talking too. I am rereading the story so I am uncertain of the ML’ s back story.

From other shows and novels that I have read, the practice in wealthy families is for ladies to have a couple of pretty maids to bring as her dowry maids. Some of these maids can be given to her husband as concubines when she is pregnant etc. The rationale is that by having one’s maid as a concubine , one has an ally of sorts and keeps the husbands affection by not having a concubine that is not under the control of the wife. SO yes teh marriages came with prearranged concubines who are selected by the wife’s relatives before marriage.

Time travel is tricky is gets all convoluted and confusing. Even with the hundred years of blood being diluted it’s kind of weir cause they come from him, their genetics stem from his if the ML is the true ancestor.
Also, they revered this ancestor all of their life. So it the FL is the ancestor’s wife, their female ancestor, than what is her relationship with her dad.? Is her family supposed to worship her too? Also, it’s kind of weird that you are your own ancestor.

The first cousin marrying is not the same because they aren’t descended from each other. They will be related to each other but they are branches stemming from the same tree.

Getting together with one’s mom is incest and gross however you look at it. I understand it’s the same concept technically but falling in love with one’s ancestor has several generations of separation. I get what you are saying though. Same concept that if it happens than you can potentially not exist, that is why time traveling dramas/movies are tricky.

Yes his father is dead but revenge doesn’t solve anything. His dad did wrong and endangered the whole village, and villagers died because of this. He has the right to be angry but so do the villagers. I am glad that villagers were able to forgive and accept his mother and little brother. I hope that he learns to forgive also.

I don’t know what Lu Lu is trying to achieve. The man has a wife just because you admire him and your brother likes him you need to leave him alone. Also, would she really be able to handle being the wife or a farmer? I don’ like her intentions.
I agree that Xiu Xiu should have never let her stay at their home. Lu Lu is someone with ill intentions. Hopefully she realizes that she is wrong and won’t go after a married man, and I am glad that she left their house.

I read the English translated version of the novel awhile back. I don’t think that XJ liked HY back at school. He didn’t know that HY was a girl. I think that he admired HY’s attitude of not giving up. Maybe he felt some kindred spirit with HY.

There are some crying moments but there are some sweet moments too. It‘s not a sweeping romantic but realistic portryal of love born of understanding each other and going through hardships together. This kind of love is more lasting.
