If anyone falls for the fake haters pretending to be ALP fans, I'm laughing to death. ALP was ridiculed way more…
I just completed this drama and I do not usually post much. I mainly just enjoy reading comments of others and the speculation they make for upcoming episodes etc. However, I have to disagree with you on ALP. I really enjoyed watching ALP. Out of the many xianxia dramas that I watched I can say that ALP is my favorite. I also really enjoyed Zhou Dongyu’s acting. Her portrayal of Houchi and Shangu were excellent. Zhou Dongyu from my understanding is a movie actress and not a drama actress. Despite her slight frame she had presence. Xu Kai also did a great job. I do not understand the hate that the two actors received, both did excellent in their roles. I also found Zhou Dongyu to be quite attractive. She isn’t the idol drama ideal, but how many idol drama actresses can match her acting?
I would disagree that ALP had no fans. TLI is supposed to kind of a continuation of the ALP storyline but do to copyright issues the production had to change the names of some characters. I would’ve loved to seen the original actors reprise their roles and see what happened to the to characters in ALP’s storylines. However, that didn’t happened. I did enjoy TLI but I wouldn’t necessarily rewatch it again as I have rewatched ALP. I have always had good things to say about ALP but again I do not often comment. As drama fans I feel that there are so many dramas that people can like and enjoy and not everyone would necessarily like the same ones.
Again, I quite liked TLI and followed it when it was airing. It wasn’t perfect but it was enjoyable. The songs were decent. I guess it is hard not to compare a work with the original or its predecessor since both ALP and TLI is essentially a continuation of ALP but is can also be a standalone drama.
I also liked the development of the characters and the friendships were outstanding. The discussion on this page continues to be excellent.
I find the xianxia dramas to be very interesting and have been trying to write my own story. This genre has its tropes those that are quite aggravating such as the not explaining what is going on by MLs. But then again if things were throughly communicated we wouldn’t have a drama. Luckily the ML in this drama communicated things with the FL and resolved any misunderstandings they had.
DingFei conspiracy 🤣 it's so funny 🤣 they're lying through their teeth to his majesty and royal court 🤣🤣…
I looked at the previews from the upcoming episodes and saw how the boy was told that from now on he was Xue DingFei and they gave him the same shaped scar. I wonder how deep that person believes in it. Since he was a child and was told that he was now another person, what his psyche is like. Does he believe he is Ding Fei since he was told that is who he is? Or since he probably grew up with the real Ding Fei, and is on Xie Wei’s side is he part of the revenge plot because he resents those people who forced this identity on him and is willing to work with Xie Wei?
Those are just my thoughts. It’s interesting for me to see the duality that a person such as Xie Wei has. I really feel sorry for him because his life is so tragic. It is so sad to have your own father treat your life cheaply. I understand royalty to one’s sovereign and royal family I have seen it projected in an honor way in other dramas, where individuals will sacrifice their own loved ones for the good of the country or for a lord they honor. But Xie Wei’s father never showed any remorse, regret or sadness. He threw his son’s life away like a pawn.
So Xie Wei’s life is more tragic than the ML in LLTG. At least that wasn’t his real dad, just his uncle. For Xie Wei it’s his own father who didn’t care for him. I wonder why his mom married his dad in the first place.
I am just amazed at Xie Wei’s interactions with his dad. He can speak to him without the other person realizing anything. I can’t believe a father who can give up his son up so easily for his ambition. No wonder Xie Wei has PTSD. In the flashbacks he was such a brave little boy. I wonder what his parents relationship was like. Anyone who read the books have any insight on this?
I thought the dream dragged out way too long. The concept of a dream is good but it got dragged out. The present…
The dream part of the drama follows the novel. Perhaps following the theme that the producer has, were their consequences to one’s actions, the novel plot became the dream, and the reality was added. I agree with you that more episodes should’ve been added on to resolve the issues that you mentioned. A second season would’ve been great also to show us how she truly redeems in her reality, her relationship with Xiwu and his mother. I also wonder if his mom still has all of those girls staying there. Also, how would everyone react to his marrying a divorced woman instead of the daughter of his stewards staying with his mother at his estate.
WTH, episode 25...the drama...Daddy taking the fall. HQ taking out her knife and just jacked up gfs face on behalf…
You’re right it was a crazy episode. I did go back and rewatch and I don’t see HQ taking out her knife and messing up the girl’s face. Maybe I missed something.
You know what's sad and most pitiful... Is when LSS showed TTJ those scenes in her time line of the future where…
Well even if the present present TTJ is pitiful and a victim if he were to die with the evil bone in his body he will become the devil god. It is as if he will be taken over by the devil god and any trace of humanity that is in him presently will be gone.
I read some comments how in the novel TTJ is more lacking in empathy and more cruel and sadistic than in the drama. The drama probably whitewashed TTJ’s character from the novel. Someone else said that TTJ acts like a 5 year old. Children can be kind and sweet at times and also can become very unreasonable.
LSS has a mission, and a huge trope in xianxias is the fate of the world. Main characters are always making sacrifices to save the world. She wasn’t able to kill him, she felt that she failed everyone. Yes she sees good in him, those glimpses of his humanity are there, but she also sees his pettiness, cruelty, insecurities, and obsessions. She can’t bet the future of the world over her feelings for him.
She was also told that their relationship is doomed. Their relationship has some sweet moments but it’s unstable. She doesn’t trust that he will not become the devil god. The only route she can take now is take out his evil bones and exchanging it with her divine essence. That way her mission is done and he won’t become the devil god.
Also, we got to remember that in Chinese culture, especially in these xianxia, historical settings, people are expected to place one’s country, family and duty above all else. Valuing one’s feelings or personal love over the greater good is not something that these characters will do because it is considered selfish. Most often xianxia characters are self sacrificing and the more selfish ones tend to be the bad guys.
That’s just my interpretation from watching it.
My thoughts about the depiction of the ML, TTJ in the drama is that he is not cruel and sadistic enough. For someone with an evil bone in their body I except them to not have any empathy or humanity for others. The dramas does show him to be more like that in the beginning, however he became too sweet in my opinion to YSW at times. I understand that making the ML truly evil will not go over well with audiences, so I am suspending my belief with it and just going along with it.
When the immortal is healing XS on Celestial Mountain, he says that the one who harmed XS was a female. But how…
On my second rewatch. I think that it’s the martial art power that they learned from their masters. You are right, a eunuch doesn’t become a female but all of director eunuchs except of 2nd princes’s second master, continued to study that particular martial art that they learned from their master. The remaining four eunuchs were all discussing this over the dead director’s body. The remaining eunuch directors all continued with that particular marital arts with varying degrees. From my rewatch that particular marital arts gave one more of yin “female” power and it is that power that Mo Yi commented on.
Yeah but he got no choice .. he needed to save his mom
I think that in Wuxia dramas, that one is the go to method to get poison out, if you can’t find a doctor. Wuxin is in the palace incognito, he can’t actually call the guards. Besides he probably thought that taking the poison out of his mom is the fastest way to save her. So like the above post said, he didn’t really have a choice.
I feel that the female lead did love him but she choose a different path.
This show ended so tragically for both of the female leads. At least CLS was able to admit to HF that she loved him. YZY never got to tell him and she let him go thinking that all she did for him was just an obligation to make up for what he father and brother did to him.
It's sad that sYZY probably hates herself as you say because of the sins of her father and doesn't feel like she's deserving of him. To be a nun is an admirable calling but I feel that one should choose it for the right reasons. I wonder if she will feel regret all of her days.

Also China is a big country so different regions have different types of food.
