Yeah dad seems to be a character!

This season's treatment of Lee Yeon is so much more compelling! I'm glad he's having to reckon with how many people he failed in his single minded pursuit of love. We all make choices that are our own, but there are always consequences. I was uncomfortable with this in S1. I also couldn't understand the logic of a pining loyal immortal fox, who is allegedly from a species that doesn't betray their mate, but then has a half human little brother? Clearly the dad wasn't physically loyal lol. There's an odd hint today about the unpredictability of half humans too. I guess I'm not clear about the world's rules yet.

I agree on this season's energy. lol. It's kinda chaotic and frenetic but oddly makes so much sense when most of the character are non-human. So many opportunities! I love that HJ punched LY too lol cause I'm really liking how LY is not necessarily THE top dog in this timeline.

Question: how come Wuxin looks like a monk but then Xiao Se says he's not ordained, so he's not a monk? Then Old Monk is like "we're just together on this journey..." but they don't have an official relationship. So is Wuxin a "monk" and does he stay monk-like (lol) for the rest of their adventures?

LMAO SAME! Aging them up would also add an extra something to the bantering and lend more credibility to the live action's gravitas. Liu Xue Yi is my favorite among the casting, but dang he doesn't look 17 😂.

On another note, I'm still waiting for my girl crush/bug beauty female character. I'm only on ep 7 and have so far been unimpressed with female actresses casting. Guess I gotta wait till Wu Xin's mother shows up

haha. nah. actually, for a finance guy, he's weird cause those guys are always networking. Yang Hua reminds me of some of my peers in academia--brilliant but socially awkward and over reliance of data to make informed choices haha. If he was a scientist, people would feel he makes sense. since he's in finance, there's gotta be some deep seated trauma for his behavior.

I also thought it was a deliberate characterization. For folks that live alone and are single, just think back to when none of us were allowed to leave our homes during the height of the pandemic and worked remotely with minimal human contact. How many of us had to learn how to "human" again after two years of that lol. This is a guy that also thinks you only need $630 (4500 rmb) to live in a major city. Clearly, no shopping and no brunch, dim sum, or drinks with friends lmaooo! But oddly enough, he has a gym membership haha. He's lucky he has that one good guy friend.

I know Asian moms that are nosy. I also know Asian moms that just expect their kids to live their lives. I am astounded by the amount of Asian moms that try to control their adult children's marriages in dramaland. Yeah, it's culture, but it ain't right. I do think that Yang Hua's mom kind of took a softer stance once she realized YH's feelings. I'll give her that. But the showing up to QS's work place!! I was livid on her behalf! That would have upset me so much someone in QS's stage of life. What I appreciate about both leads that both leads stand up to their in-laws in reasonable ways for one another. More importantly, both leads talk to their OWN parents about the other. They are not doing was Tao Jun hui did by not defending his partner. That's not a cultural move---that's a scumbag play.

Finally, someone articulating myany feelings. I liked Part 1 as characters still seemed likeable. But for the life of me, I could not watch Part 2. Instead, I followed recaps lol. All cast members gave wonderful performances - I think most of us would agree with that. However, the FL AND the ML are just unlikable characters. Lord, I don't think either of them needed to be married. They needed therapy. Esp the ML. FL should have left to travel the world for another five years. She needed to grow into herself while not living in servitude or for someone else. All this time she talked about "this is who I am" and "why do women need to marry" but they still let her get married. Look, love, sex and romance are not the panaceas to trauma omg. What a poor message.

ML? LOL. If he weren't played by the attractive WL and was the ML, dude would be a straight up villain. I'm so sad for my lil WL cause I've been following him for so long.

But hey, show seems to be popular because Cdrama land loves toxic relationships as long as the two leads are gorgeous.

I'm with you about the endings. Who says Shuiyuntian gets exclusive rights to protecting the three worlds? Let the new Moon Supreme and Moon Queen reign and let's see what kind new world they will usher in. Maybe modernity where there's less social hierarchy? lol.

Oh. This BTS is much longer than the kiss scene we got in Ep 13! Did we get robbed? LOL. It's nice that they're friends AND professionals. Otherwise, it's creepy.

Oh yeah, that was Yang Zi and Liu Xueyi, right? I was so confused about the scandal. My friends and I (opposite sex and orientation and whatever we identify as adults) share cutlery, eat food after each other, and lean on each other, and even sleep in the same bed/hotel room. It's a bit old fashioned to see how boundaries are so clearly enforced in such a binary way. Also, I'm not even "young" being a post-80s lol.
