While that was the most painful divorce I have seen so far in cdrama, it did seem awfully easy to do and thus sort of easy to reverse, since it is all about feelings. Maybe the fact that each one of them is independently wealthy made it easier...

The Dowager's evil is framed as a result of the Confucian refusal to let women out of the house. Yet that somehow is a colorless suggestion -- she dreams of her friends, the scholarly women accusing her of evil deeds, transforming her evil into the standard individual blame for corruption, but this scene is weak and washed out in execution.
Thank goodness, Ye Li did not shred the straw doll but put it away to await events. Now we will have rebellion, assassins, the more intimate plots? As well as commerce and marriage...
