Can anyone explain the twisted dynamic between Misa and Reina? I really didn't understand their final confrontation…
from what I understood Reina was jealous of Misa so she wanted Misa to be miserable to feel better about herself. Misa was a people pleaser and Reina knew that, I think Reina wanted to test how far she could go until Misa admits that she hates Reina, that's why she thought Misa is playing the victim, yet at the same time Reina only had Misa and was afraid of being abandoned again.
people pleaser Misa couldn't hurt Reina who helped her once and her first friend and because of their dynamic Misa became a loner too and only had Reina but inside herself she knew Reina was the reason she felt suffocated but Misa didn't admit that to the bitter end because she didn't want to hurt Reina or be "the bad one" (in her first life) but faced her in her 2nd life. Reina felt abandoned and Misa was sad for her because none of them opened up their feelings to each other sooner but what Reina did in 2 life times was unforgivable, so Misa told Reina to move on and start a life without attachment but Reina couldn't let go because in her twisted mind she believed she'll forever be miserable as long as Misa is happier.
for once I actually like the ml! his character is what sets it apart from the other version. overall an enjoyable drama, tho I wasn't a fan of ep 9 it wasn't impressive as the other eps
I enjoyed the story but if you're looking for heavy romance this one wouldn't be for you. I rated 8/10
the story is set in 2 timelines, modern and joseon era, Saimdang played by Lee Young Ae is a painter and she writes in her diary, so it's about her whole life like Jewel In The Palace, her personality is exactly like Dae Jang Geum, a woman ahead of her time, she meets another painter the ml acted by Song Seung Hoon.
**minor spoiler ahead**
now here's the twist, there's a look alike of Saimdang in the modern times who's a professor searching for a certain painting.
since this is trending again let me say for people who haven't watched this yet. I don't trust overhyped dramas but I avoid reading the comments or reviews before finishing the drama, so I wouldn't be influenced by others experiences. still, I usually end up disappointed or I think it's ok and overhyped. surprisingly and for once, a drama (this one) is understandably hyped. I get why people liked it a lot. it's worth watching especially if you like time travel and 2nd chances.
i watched this twice and now i'm waiting for season 2. hold on... this drama is perfect in next eps
so after I saw your reply I gave it another go and I'm half way through, this one is painfully slow.. nothing major really happens in the first half expect the killing of the past generation and the rest is just a repeat of ml and fl's feelings and I feel in ep 7 the producers realised their mistake and were like ok time skip! I will see how it goes tho. thanks for your reply!
me neither. she actually looked better before 🙈
I didn't like the Korean one either. that's what I said? I know it's based on 2015 trends but I'm old enough to remember fashion trends and that makeover wasn't great to some of us. they went with a korean style and similar to the Korean version which I didn't like
