oh my gosh! I thought she looked familiar. One of my favs from Girls' Generation! I don't usually watch K-dramas anymore but I think I'll give this a chance for her. <3
Enjoying this so far (6 eps in) and I hope it holds up! I like their relationship so far and how it's not over-the-top about the romance. It's gradual and they are both competent and calm people.
Oh my gosh, I didn't know Ye Bai Yi's actor is the guy as Wu Tong from Love & Redemption! Wu Tong was an asshole but he was super handsome and I was wondering who the actor was, lol. To think he was the handsome actor for Ye Bai Yi in Word of Honor! I adore him and can't wait to watch him in more of his works.
It's soulmates. But if you start this, make sure to watch the cut scenes so you get the full joyous experience!
Yes, the official channel uploaded it on youtube and they are usually titled "Killer and Healer highlight." They're not subbed though but it's usually just like 10-20 seconds trimmed off. There's maybe just one or two scenes that was completely cut from an episode.
Bless you for making this! I kept seeing the word "Novoland" and was getting really confused about why there were so many series with this title, lol. Thanks again! Super helpful.
This happens on a lot of MGTV dramas that they put on YouTube. On their app and website, the sounds are not cut…
Glad to help! And sadly, no, the highlighted scenes are not subbed. Usually, it's just like 10-20 seconds shaved off from the original scene from the original episode, so you're not missing too much. However, there are several entirely-deleted scenes and those are not subbed either but there are YouTube users who have provided context or subs in the comment section. :)
This is purely speculation but 2018 Guardian (also a bromance based on BL novel) got so popular that it was even…
Thanks for your thoughts! I was going to guess that too. I wasn't here during 2018 when Guardian came out but I did hear that it was taken down twice before being put back up. Considering that all of that was happening, I think you're right to say that the Killer & Healer team probably didn't want to release it during that difficult time. (And it would also kind of make sense why MGTV just dropped this show earlier this year without saying any word, not wanting it to be flagged down by c*nsorship...)
Ahem ahem (clears throat) does anyone know the name of the ships??ಥ⌣ಥ
On Tumblr, we're using YueZhi! But I can't think of a name for Yu Tangchun and Zhan Junbai yet. I don't know what would be clever...TangBai? JunChun? Aaahhh.
can someone explain to me why the sound cuts off multiple times throughout the episodes?? i was seeing ppl saying…
This happens on a lot of MGTV dramas that they put on YouTube. On their app and website, the sounds are not cut off. Thus, we assume it's because of music copyright issues. However, I personally think it's a tactic by MGTV to get people to seek out their website/app instead of watching it on YouTube since they probably have more ads or get more revenue via their website/app.
I'm hearing that this drama was actually filmed in 2018? Holy crap. Why was it kept on the shelf for so long ? Someone told me that it was because of c*nsorship, but was that all it was or were there other issues too? I didn't think c*nsorship would take THAT long...
I've just finished watching word of honor. And now thinking of starting this one. But not sure. I'm looking for…
What's your definition of "proper" BL romance? Because in Chinese dramas, they have to do a lot of trimming/cuts to pass censorship. So, of course, you'll never see a kiss scene or a direct confession scene. But all the implicit and subtext really point toward a romance. There are also a lot of gazes, tender and caring dialogue, and hand touches (or in this case, Jiang Yuelou putting his arm around Chen Yuzhi's shoulders, lol.) The main attraction, I would say, is the hurt and comfort. Lots of angst but also lots of warm and tender moments. HOWEVER, to get that full enjoyable experience, you have to also make sure you watched the trimmed/cut scenes. It's all posted on MGTV's YouTube channel as "highlights."
For me, this is definitely a love story from start to end. Why? Because even the title is of romantic connotations. The Chinese title is "恨君不似江楼月" which comes from a poem with high romantic connotations about wishing to never be separated, wishing that the loved ones could be together forever. The line roughly translates to "I hate that you're not like the moon above the river pavilion"--which is a very typical romantic scene/imagery.
I saw several requests below for this information. Killer and Healer is based on the following poem: "Picking…
Thank you so so much for this thorough explanation!! I agree completely when you say that this storyline is well conceived and could've attracted more viewers in its original version. It's too bad that it got cut so much (even if they uploaded the deleted scenes later, it's not quite the same.) Thank you again! Also, if it helps a little bit, this fanmade video (by a Weibo user and reposted on YouTube) translated the poem similarly to what you mentioned as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1nKVc51mtQ
Wishing the best success for this drama because Mao Zijun deserves more love and attention, especially after his great role as Jiang Yuelou in Killer and Healer. Can't wait to watch this drama!
One thing that I wish viewers understood when starting this drama: MGTV is not great with their dramas. If you've watched plenty of their dramas on YouTube, you'll see how cheap they are by cutting out audio (assumingly for copyright issues) and sometimes straight out not even providing English subs. You have to endure a lot with Killer and Healer as well with cut audio and trimmed scenes.
Even the finale struggled because, apparently, the makers wanted to create another ending but MGTV wouldn't let them, so the makers had to make do with their previous footage to create the alternative ending.
Overall, Killer and Healer is enjoyable still if you can get over the loss of audio in the episodes (on YouTube), if you watch the cut/trimmed scenes as well, and watch the alternative ending. I really loved this drama and wished it received more attention, but sadly, with the way MGTV handles things, it's no wonder that it doesn't get the attention it deserves.
You can also find a masterpost of the scenes here that indicates which episodes have a trimmed/cut scene here:
