Just watched episode 7 and what the fuck :( that cliffhanger was so so sad. If Keying doesn't come back, I don't know how I'm going to recover from this. :((((((
So sadly hardly strong support for this series, noticeable is the comments section. Here is 354, whereas WOH is…
As far as I can tell, Republican Era cdramas don't get a lot of hype or interest (especially for international viewers who are more taken with the historical fantasy genres). The most popular Republican Era cdramas I can think of is "My Roommate is a Detective" (which was two male leads) and "Arsenal Military Academy" (male & female leads).
Also, sadly, MGTV is not a great channel and doesn't do much promotions or even have solid episodes with full scenes and audios. This show deserves more love but since it's on MGTV, it won't get watched as much as it could've been.
Giving this a chance after a family member recommended it to me and it's going better than I thought! Though I'm only 8 eps in and wondering what other dramas and storylines will I see for the next 51 episodes lol. Getting nervous that the drama may drag a bit...but hopefully I'll still enjoy this drama!
Still waiting for the episode where they sleep together with Zhun and Zhun tattles on his father to the grandmother about how his father is a "coward" who still needs to hold the mother, lmao. This scene was in the trailer and I can't wait for the ep.
Thought I was the only one!!!? Yeah the cutting off audio part was annoying!!!
Yeah, it's fairly common for cdramas on MGTV. It's probably due to music copyright, but I don't see other Chinese dramas Youtube channels having this problem (at least not very often).
Ugh, MGTV is one of the worst networks dealing with cdramas on youtube. The audio for certain parts of the episodes are cut out and it really just ruins the experience. It's so annoying and I'm only on episode 2. :/ Don't know how much I can take it if this keeps happening, sigh.
Episode 16 was so intense! But also, finally, more romantic development between the FL and ML. <3 When he showed up just in time during the chaos and protected her, my heart!! <3
Yeah, that one sister (Erniang, I believe) was pretty mean, but damn, no one deserves to be in an abusive relationship. On ep14 and the way the mother was telling her to just be better to the guy, ugh. Sadly, victim blaming is too normalized. Ugh. I hope her situation gets better and that she develops to be a better and nicer person, but we'll see.
could someone explain to me the difference between the cut and the uncut versions since everyone is talking about…
The cut version (on YouTube by the official channel) is the one that's heavily censored and so any scenes with strong BL-vibes have been cut. The uncut version allows for more of those implied and subtext scenes. It is definitely a love story, but since this is a Chinese production, don't expect the uncut version to have explicit kissing or sex scenes. The uncut version just means that the episodes have the full episodes with the romantically-implied scenes.
Interesting! If I remember correctly, the drama didn't have the same ending as the manhwa did since the manhwa wasn't finished at the time. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out in this new version! I haven't watched kdramas in a longgg time, so I don't even know who I would want as the main four leads, lol.
Here's to hoping that MGTV provides GOOD subs. Considering their history with their other dramas...I have low hopes but hope the subs will be good enough to understand the story.
only on ep12 and I like this drama so much! something about Seven and Wallace's excellent acting and chemistry...
In hindsight, I think it's because of their years of experiences. Although I was a little hesitant about Seven playing a 16/17 yr old character (when her real age is 30), Seven's baby face allows her to still look youthful and play young characters. Furthermore, Shiyi is a mature character and so Seven is really quite perfect for this role. Wallace is a lot older than I expected and I assume he's playing someone in their late twenties/early thirties, but he is also excellent in this role. Both Seven and Wallace were the perfect choice for these characters.
