In the novel there isn't a 'princess royal' taking over the kingdom storyline at all. No storming the castle! Both Cui Mingyue and princess Rongyang were evil yes but Jiang Si was able to set them up and take them down fairly easily. They weren't the reason she died. Also, the FL knows that the ML is the prince and they were married and living in his palace in her previous lifetime. There was no 'forced off the cliff' and he thought she was dead/she thought he was dead thing going on while they were separated. Well, there was a forced off the cliff scenario but that's how she died, killed by Princess Qi. The evil mother/daughter twosome had nothing to do with it!

It was an interesting dynamic between the ML and FL in Are You the One. (Full disclaimer, this is one of my favorite series of all times. I don't know why but I almost have it playing on repeat I love it so much.) I was completely convinced that they were both in love with each other. But in an asexual way! I've never seen a couple in a c-drama that seemed so perfect for each other, loved each other deeply, and yet stayed practically covid-distant! Even the hugs started off wonderful with a full body hug, but it was like they were counting 1001, 1002, 1003, ok that's long enough, step away! The kiss scenes were blah. Except for the taste of hate. That one wasn't bad!

I think my brain blocked out any sighting of Chen Dualing in any drama since Till the End of the Moon. I haven't been able to stand her since that series. When someone is such a good actress that they make you completely hate their character to the point where you get angry when you see them, and then after the series is over anytime you see them you can't get rid of that feeling.... I think this series may finally break me out of that rut!
