I'm reading the manga for the first time and it's pretty much the same story as the novel. The artwork is really nice!

There are so many funny bits like that in the novel that come up unexpectedly and just make you laugh and laugh! Erniu is just the best!
I'm reading it for the second time, it's that fun. Currently on chapter 476. Out of 828 chapters. Plus 8 side stories! So it's a bit of a commitment! 😂

I had to laugh about the miraculous wiping of the symbol from her back through the clothes and string of pearls! I thought the exact same thing! 😂
And yes, more Erniu please! 🐶 And take that leash off of him! He's the best character from the novel and they aren't using him! I want to see him stealing everyone's money pouches and bringing them to the FL please!🥰

The series is really good and I'm enjoying it. I just can't help thinking about the story in the novel though! I think I would wait until the series is over then read the novel. Or you'll be like me and constantly comparing!😂

Oh, and in the novel evil Cui Mingyue doesn't want to marry the ML. That story came out of left field! But she had a deliciously wonderful ending! Very poetic and satisfactory. Too often the villain don't get their just desserts!😤😁

She doesn't! That's one of the places where it veers off from the novel. I mean, she's a evil villain in the novel but everything is behind the scenes, she does evil behind closed doors! And the emperor sort of indulges her a bit cause she is his adopted sister but he wouldn't knowingly let her do evil. He thinks she is his sweet lovely sister!

Agree! They should have just called it something different and given the characters different names since it has almost nothing to do with the original novel/manga!

Evil sister/cousin is actually not related by blood at all. Her mother, Princess Rongyang that everyone is calling Princess Royal (hey, isn't that another series name?😏) is the adopted sister of the Emperor. So evil Princess Rongyang and her evil daughter Cui Mingyue are not related by blood to the Emperor or the ML.

Kudos to the stylists in charge of Zhang Wan Yi's hair! They've given him a bunch of different styles so far in just 7 episodes and they all look marvelous! So much better than the helmet style he has been sporting in the last couple of dramas. Even though he looks good in that too!😘😘😘

episode 6. I love how they are injecting a bit of humor after this ghastly storyline. I just adore Zhang Wan Yi's voice and facial expressions. He does sexy and comedy so well.🥰
The way they combined the 2 Zhens from the novel into one character is kind of funny. The father adored the FL's mind and ability to help him solve crimes and wanted to set her up with his son, and the son developing a mad crush on the FL has been rewritten to one combined Zhen loving her mind and abilities and having a mad crush!🤗
I also love the relationship between the Zhen and the ML!🤝
And the ML does pouting jealousy so well!😂
Wait, what? Seriously, there is no reason they had to deviate from the original story so greatly. Instead of Princess Rongyang stealing the FL's mother's fiancé the story is now her daughter Cui Mingyue wants to steal the ML. And then forcing her to jump off a cliff? And on their wedding day? Whiplash🙄
I love the ML's hairstyle in the flashback! And I usually hate the messy looking bangs concept. But it really works for him. 😍
Wait, what? Now they have Chuchu and Long Dan and the ML all knowing each other? Please don't let this be a triangle!😤

I was confused too! I thought it was another example of choosing the exact wrong actor for the role! That's before I figured out they just combined the 2 Zhens into one! Which is a shame, the storyline with the older Zhen was wonderful. And the younger Zhen as the smitten scholar....sorry, I need to stop comparing again!😂
