i think they've been stuck in this same loop for 30,000 years. chu kong probably retained his memories the whole time, whereas xiangyun probably doesn't remember anything each time the loop resets. it's all very confusing though and this is just my guess. i think the best scene that shows the multiple loops is the scene from the 2nd life, where in one timeline xiangyun shows up with a dagger to her throat inside the courtroom and another time she shows up with a sword outside the palace. so it shows that they've lived through these lifetimes multiple times over, where little things change every time, but it's not enough to break the loop. i wonder how chu kong held up, having to bear these memories his entire life.
also i think xiu ming has known since the beginning haoxun is the bad guy. he says something like my only regret is not killing the enemy myself when he first shows up at that cliff where cang hai died, so he should've known the entire time. but it's super weird how he acted after that, trying to doom the two main characters in their tribulations. xiu ming's writing as a character is kind of off but i hope they pull him together by the time the show ends.
but yeah i agree they should have more episodes. i know they can't because of censorship, but they should've at least cut down the 2nd and 3rd tribulations. i understand they were very important, but if they were only allowed 38 episodes, i feel like they should've made sure they had enough time to wrap up the story properly. we only have 6 eps left and we have more questions than answers right now. they just keep introducing new plot points and im worried about how they're going wrap it all up.

(spoilers for ep31/32) yeah im glad they revealed that this is all a loop. i think it gives all their past tribulations a lot more meaning and i can sympathize more with what they went through.
i'm still waiting for one of their lifetimes to one up their 2nd tribulation. i fear nothing is touching lu changkong and song xiangyun for me ðŸ˜. i really thought cang hai and chu kong would be the ones to do it, but somehow their love story isn't touching me as much. i can't wait to get into the 6th tribulation. i feel like it's going to be really interesting.

y'all i desperately need to know. what is the ost that keeps playing in this show? i've made it to like ep15. it's the one where a piano starts playing and then the flute follows with the same melody. i swear it plays like 3+ times an episode, most often when xiangyun is standing by a tree and flower petals are falling around her. i've been looking for it literally everywhere and i can't seem to find it anywhere.

i think im in the minority of people who actually enjoyed this drama omg. i thought the family interactions were so precious and i didn't mind the open ending at all! i'm a huge huge fan of jang hyuk and jang nara so maybe i'm a little biased, but idk. their chemistry was amazing as always. power couple for real. i just thought everything about this drama was so cute. it was heartwarming and fun and just a casual fun watch. i think i came into this with no expectations and it really helped my watch experience. they set up the family stuff so well that i didn't even mind the lack of action at the end. like this was a slice of life comedy at heart, trust.
