I wonder if the actress portraying ML's wife knows she's being type-casted as the b^&&hy character in dramas. She is quite a good actress and charismatic as I remember her roles (even if they are heartless, self-serving "princess" types). Quite like her and must say her looks are not the typical sweet heroine ones hence the roles she gets. But I am looking forward to her performance in this drama in this duel of wits and guts against FL.

I wonder if ML was the one who had her family's remains properly buried. He never really seemed to agree with his father and grandfather not warning her family. And he was just a teenager then and his entire clan was also in jeopardy.

Title Against the Current Spoiler
How old were ML and FL in the first episode? Thanks!
So the younger actors I think were portrayed to be 15 and 16 or 17? I am trying to recall if her age was mentioned in episode 1. I could be wrong. Then when Seven Tan and Liu Xie Yi comes on, its like 6 years later and he is battled hardened while she is now a slave trying to stay under the radar. Can't blame her given how she witnessed her whole family eliminated in one fell swoop for displeasing the king. I'd have major PTSD and def not call attention to the fact I am the sole survivor of that family. She also has her adopted parents lives to consider as they would be executed along with her.

Is it just me? But I love the styling of TSY in ordinary servant clothes. It really highlights her natural beauty.

Just finished episode 4 (yeah wetv got my money LOL) and it's going to be epic. I think it will truly deserve the 47 episodes, really happy to go on this journey with Xu Lan Xiang. I like the way she is portrayed. It seems so much more realistic of someone who finds themselves in such a situation. Her main motive is to survive. None of that revenge trope that is so beaten to death in C-drama. It's so refreshing to finally see something original in C-drama.

๐Ÿ˜‚ I love what I am seeing so far and I doubt they will make him involved with other women in this drama. I…
That is not how he is portrayed. Just watch a few more episodes and you will see the reason he married her (to save family from ruin) and also what the marriage ended up being. So he's not a womanizer like the novel portrays. They are a lot more PC here in the drama. I also think Seven Tan chooses her scripts very carefully. She would not be in a drama where her character is portrayed as anything less than a strong woman (not one subject to the whims of a man and who loves his no matter how he behaves.

you sure about that? ML face look fucking ecstatic getting married in ep. 2...............he couldnt look happier
That was the teenage version where they wanted to portray how he was innocent and became jaded over time. You will soon see in later episodes.

Title A Bona Fide Killer Spoiler
I hope it is popular enough to warrant a season 2 because they've introduced too many characters to be able to do justice to all their stories like the team lead, the hacker, the mole. Even the "bad" characters like "mama" and her son and the connection to Russia. They are all interesting so I want to know more. This kinda reminds me og Taxi Driver although they are quite different in tone but it's about the same vigilante group.

Gross is the word that comes to mind. I guess viewer standards have fallen so low, people will willingly watch AI slop. China has so many human actors who now can't find a job. So as a member of the homo sapien species, I will not endorse or watch any virtual AI beings on screen. Bad enough I am forced to use AI at work. AI is at best a tool for working faster. When it starts replacing humans, we better start worrying. Today the Chinese drama industry, tomorrow your job.

Can't wait for this to start - been waiting for so long! Timing is perfect as I am wrapping up Bona Fide Killer with one of my favorite Korean actresses this weekend and Seven Tan is back on my screen again. Liu Xie Yi I have not watched in any other dramas but he looks very dashing in all the teasers and carries off the traditional general look very well. More manly looking than ahem...the "foundation" general LOL.

i suspect the head (team lead) of the kingfisher police task force might be the mole.
Ah you mean the other boy in the flashback? Yeah could be him. And where does the Russian-Korean dude Seul Gi/Sergei fit in? Is he just there to be the fall guy that police think is Kingfisher? Although the drama has not really established that enough much as the husband is trying to point his police friend that way. No evidence built to link him to the killings.

Tell me why I'm even more anxious than Bona ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜งSo far the only Kdrama I've not used my ff button on. A little…
Agree. It's an under-rated gem. I am glad I watched it - mostly because of KHJ. I miss seeing her in more dramas. I am sad amazing actresses like her, Ha Ji Won, Jang Nara an numerous other actresses I've loved and followed - are no longer getting much work/scripts.

I grew up in Asian culture. Believe me, it's not that far-fetched. Growing up, I was amazed at some of the things that have come out of relatives' mouths. But stay with the show, there's a redemption arc here.

I don't recall them ever saying minor - could it be a translation issue?
Maybe it was just the detective's way of saying not dismiss anyone? So they just went broadly even if the suspect seems unbelievable because in this case, it is. It was the breakthrough thinking they needed to come to in order to crack the case. The classic Sherlock Holmes quote: "When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." I use that approach to find a lot of missing things in my house LOL. Believe me, it works.

just finished watching ep11, i quite literally HOPE that her husband chooses to protect her cuz if he were to…
I think he will - it hints at that in episode 12. ML does a great job of taking us through his emotions - I guess the 5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. I thought it was well acted.

They did hint rather strongly at him but his introduction is quite late in the drama so we are going to need his backstory very quickly. I hope they don't rush to wrap things up with 2 episodes left.

Title A Bona Fide Killer Spoiler
Interesting ending to ep 12. I wonder if someone in her group like the florist stepped up the game to do a sniping while she had an alibi at the amusement park? Given it is a drama, this can't be just a happy coincidence. The russian-korean dude is end of day on her side? Was it him doing the sniping? Not sure where he stands TBH. I see the end game as someone else taking the fall for her or some transition to another sniper in the organization so she can safely "retire" with her family. But I am sure there will be some cliff hanger happening before that. Only 2 more episodes so I hope they are able to resolve the loose threads like who runs this shadow organization? Is there a mole in the police who is actually running the show on the side? What is the Russian connection? Why did the russian-korean dude come back to Korea for her? Did Bo Na and her colleague (the electronics guy from the same abusive compound they were rescued from) get trained in Russia? They keep refering to her coming back to Korea but don't give a lot of details here.

I am mostly here to watch Kong Hyo Jin at her craft. Curious to see how she makes a mother assassin (2 roles that never really meet in dramaland or in real life for that matter) believable. End of day this is a fantasy thriller and I am just watching to see how she portrays a woman trying to straddle these opposing worlds. It is a tough premise to sell and I can see in any other less talented actress it will totally fall flat. I think she is doing a commendable job so far...But...the drama is not yet over so I am just going along for the ride.
