Did that flash back for anyone else to the scene in Love Like the Galaxy when ZLS saved Leo Wu? I was trying hard not to laugh actually because I think they did it on purpose. The slow mo, the same hand outreach. The same mounting the horse and riding away. I think the director has a wicked sense of humor but not a lot of places to inject since this is kinda a serious drama. LOL.

Dude was like 6 feet tall so feet are accordingly large in proportion to size. He kinda look like a cross dresser if one was looking closely. LOL. And she's sharp if nothing else. Actually Asians are generally more petite than Westerners hence a lot of expats who live in Asia like Japan etc complain that it's hard to get women's shoes above a 6 or 7. (US size) So it's a real thing. Appreciate the director/script writer grounding a lot of scenes in reality ,

The director and script writer are unique here for C-drama since they are focused on how a character might actually behave versus just to advance the plot like most C-dramas do. I am wondering if the director has gone through proper film school as this is super unusual. Given that LX has not shown overtly that she likes JQ, it would be out of character to suddenly lie down beside him. Also he is not exactly freezing to death in life or death situation. The director's treatment of other character is also consistent - how Scholar Han acts (not toxic 2ML) , how her parents act, even with XinTang and how she reacts in the end. I really appreciate this attention to detail and respect for the audience. I also think the actors notice too and everyone on the cast is bringing their A game here. Super acting from everyone all the way down to the supporting characters.

I think if she didn't care, she'd be just as happy to be a widow. Why not? No man to control her. And given her marriage is decreed by Emperor, not like the Lin family can cast her out or remarry her off.

I think its there but she herself might not be aware of it. I think JingQi is aware the tide is turning in his favor. She is quite stubborn as we all know (gotta be that to survive what she did and come out on top at the other end.) so it will take her a while to admit her feelings. But it is there - from the carriage scene where she wishes him well and he comes back to kiss her good-bye.

Reading all the comments makes me smile because I think the director and actress who played her slayed the role. Because she is both an abhorrent yet somehow sympathetic character. So hard to pull off so kudos to Li Meng for doing that. I am so impressed with this actress.

Kinda makes sense when you think he spent his time in military among men. So nuances of dealing with a household of females kinda over his head - and there are a LOT of females to deal with in his household LOL.

I think that is the whole point of the director and script writer since this whole drama is focused on the lives of women in ancient times. And we all know in some parts of the world, women are still living in those times. Even in the most developed countries, there is still gender inequity. Still an amazing drama that makes one think - not just fluffy idol romance/revenge/love to hate whatever trope that is pushed out these days in C-drama land. I need more than a pretty /handsome face and a set of six packs to sustain my interest. Tried my best but could not finish POJ because the ML while so good looking, looked like he was just play acting general. Just my 2 cents so don't hate on me.

Yeah I always knew Seven Tan had the acting chops - she just needs a script and great direction to showcase her range. I have been waiting so long for this drama to air and am so tickled it's that good!

I want to see her lead a modern drama. I think she will be fantastic in a cop/detective drama or even modern CEO drama - can't you just see her as a kickass CEO?

LOL I am planning to rewatch it. The writing is so intelligent and I know I missed a lot of the nuances in the first go around. Truly a drama worth my time and so happy Seven Tan is in a drama that showcases her talents. Plus discovering so many great actors too like Liu Xue Yi, Li Meng in particular. I will be following their careers and checking out their other dramas.

Yes, The script writer and director are so thoughtful in their building of the characters. It would be weird to have her character suddenly turn good in last scene - her character is pretty much an eye for an eye and grab opportunity at any costs. And so she is to the end. It was interesting dialogue at the end because if she was born in modern times, she would be CEO of a company. So much nuance in the writing. The treatment of Scholar Han is also unique. He stays true to character and doesn't suddenly become the toxic 2ML. The series is not yet over but I am planning to rewatch already because there are so many layers to this drama that I missed on first go around. Someone actually sat down and thought through how a character might actually behave in such circumstances - not just to advance the plot. Li Meng the actress is so charismatic. First noticed her in the Double. Her character was also one you hate but still compelled to watch and finally understand why she is the way she is. I hope she gets more roles and maybe get to do a lead. I think she would kill in a modern cop or detective role as well. This actress is able to grab the audience so she will do great in any role and hope she chooses roles that do her justice. And also not get type-casted into same role. I think the Princess role in The Double and Xintang in this one are same archtypes. Want to see her in other/more roles.

I agree. So glad they did not make 2 ML toxic or vengeful or clingy. I think they wrote his character spot on as a dignified scholar would act. I believe there is true friendship first between them so am hoping they still have that relationship in future episodes so was very happy to see him reappear in court scene.
