Here comes the great fan of ZYL again on seven tan’s drama page just to critize and degrade seven in all possible…
Yeah I don't understand why one can't just like both actresses - I happen to like both Seven Tan AND ZLY - they are very different actresses and I enjoy their dramas equally. Don't understand the need to bash one at the expense of the other - it's not like a fan can only follow one actress. There are actresses I don't enjoy watching but I don't go around bashing them - I just don't watch their dramas. Folks should know the difference between drama and real life. If they don't, it really reflects on how pathetic their lives are. As in, they need to get a life.

Ep 14 got me excited about this show again - I liked how YJL put down ZXY, such a righteous green flag, while…
Yes ZXY character has gone over to the Dark side LOL - although I can't help feeling like the scriptwriter did him one here - he started off so strong and supportive of FL and then suddenly it all veered downhill. Its not very consistent with the character they built for him so I feel like he needs a redemption arc. Maybe sacrifice himself, kill evil Niu lady or her father or something like that but then I have not read the novel so no idea.

Thanks. Wow that is a lot of "damsel in distress" situations for FL LOL. Did she marry YJL instead of his brother? So was she actually his wife when Prince Bai Sheng kidnapped her?

Want to second the comments enjoying featuring of different traditional Chinese trades and culture. First the pearl and jewelry trade with SOPG and now re:silk trade with Brocade Odyssey. x And featuring my favorites actresses is icing on the cake!! I know there are haters trolling on TSY's appearance but I honestly so appreciate her natural beauty and the fact she did not feel the need to go under the knife. So happy she did not cave under pressure but is letting her natural talents be the focal point. Honestly, its so nice to have that because so many of the pretty Chinese (and Korean) actresses start looking generic once they get plastic surgery - there's nothing unique about their looks. Anyway - I am planning to watch a Dream of Splendor based on reco from the folks on MDL which focuses on teahouse trade. If you know of any other dramas with trade focus, please let me know.

Yeah the trailers were confusing to me. So she is being forcibly married to a Yang brother? Or is it ZXY? Why would a Yang brother force her - to get her red dye recipe? Nothing so far has foreshadowed that and none of the other Yang brothers have interacted with JLL so far so that is kind of weird. Then in the synopsis it says the White King aka CFZ/2ML kidnapped her. JLL is getting kidnapped left and right is all I can say. She already was kidnapped once by evil Niu lady.

wow Youku is really doing something about sharing Chinese culture and merchant stories. I'm only at ep 9 but so…
yes I was thinking the same thing. First the pearl and jewelry trade with Story of Pearl Girl and now the Silk Brocade trade. Got me intrigued about the Silk Route because it was alluded to at the end of SOPG and silk route was well...named after silk trading. But so many things went through that route - such an interesting period, would have been cool to witness the "globalization" of trade during that period along that route.

When that man was looking at Yingying dance my heart dropped. He lowkey starting to like her?!🙉
LOL I got the same creepy vibes too when he started to have that gleam in his eye looking at her. I can't tell if he is personally interested in her or planning to use her. And still trying to figure out his agenda. From the synopsis, it sounds like he is also after the recipe for the Shu red silk and will kidnap her? But then some of the trailer for later episodes also show she was being forcibly married to another Yang son. So very confused.

kisskh.co but make sure you have malware/ad blockers installed as these sites you surf at your own risk. I just subscribed to disney/hulu for black friday deal so probably just watch regular sites now.

Yeah translation is glitchy but tbh I can wait as I was quite pleased to see so many new J-dramas on Netflix. I have trouble finding them on (ahem) bootleg sites. I do subscribe to the regular channels as well (Youku VIP, viki, Netflix premium) for my K-drama, C-drama and J-drama consumption but sometimes the bootleg sites have episodes up faster that the paid premium sites LOL. Watching this one as well as AARO. Will check out Okura.
Its kinda a fun way to introduce all the Japanese demons/yokai to western audience. I am enjoying each episode as a new myth is introduced. And the child actors are too adorable. When I see them in their uniforms and little backpacks - the mom in me just melts. Only thing that bugs me is the Netflix translation used "god" to describe each of these beings with supernatural powers. Seems a bit of an overkill to call them gods so wondering if something was lost in translation?

Should we all request iQiyi to release this drama ?Who knows, they might listen to our request😢
Where do we go to request? Yeah I wish they would release this drama. Just finished Smile Code - only Shen Yue can deliver on the sweet rom-com like no other.

Title The Story of Pearl Girl Spoiler
It definitely was not the ending I was hoping for but after a night of thinking about it - the ending does make sense. YZJ had been foreshadowing his ending throughout - he mentioned more than once that his only goal in life is to seek revenge and clear his family name. Having accomplished both, his story arc is complete. Filling in the gaps, I'd like to think that he and Duanwu were able to spend whatever time they had together enjoying each other's company. Once he passed, there was nothing left for Duanwu to accomplish in Yangzhou as she attained her goals there as well so she left on a pilgrimage across the Silk Road to be a nomad peddler. I'd like to think that Yun Xiu accompanied her. Given Yun Xiu dogged walk across the desert to find Duanwu the first time, I imagine she would not want to be parted with her big sister. And Kang Ju probably, now set up well financially by YZJ also has no more ties, accompanies them on their pilgrimage. This leaves Cui ZhuoHua/ShiJi, Ying Tao and her bandit bff to man Clear Mind, and run the rest of the jewelry business. I did want YZJ to have a happy ending but I think given how his character arc was written, a happy ending would have seemed forced. As for Duanwu - the way her character arc was written, you know that she is a survivor and will be ok. I liked that the main theme of the story was centered around female empowerment. While there was romance, it was not the main theme of this drama. All in all - quite the masterpiece and I am glad I got to go on this journey with Lusi and team.

Hey guys? What do you guys think of that AvenueX girl on YouTube doing drama review??? I know she is bias and…
Yeah I agree. She can be overly critical (and tries to come across as authoritative although what one likes about a drama is super subjective). I have called her out on her dumping on Hidden Love - she was super harsh calling it grooming where I did not see any of that as she did not bother as well about sticking through to a few more episodes. Ironically I discovered 2 of my favorite actresses (Zhao LiYing and Zhao Lusi) from her channel where she spoke highly of Story of MingLan and Romance of Tiger and Rose. Anyway - who cares right - as long as we enjoy the drama - that's all that matters.
On Our Generation Mar 6, 2024
Why is Wu Lei doing such insipid romance dramas (the billiard in snow - lord can we come up with a more boring sport. If you are doing it in a snowy place, at least do snowboarding or skiing, or sled dog racing with more action. Has anyone sat through a pool game on tv -it is SLOW! And the tennis one was meh as well) The "gloomy, silent genius" is such an overused trope in Chinese dramas. He is so mis-type casted for these modern romance type roles as he has a lot of gravitas on screen in spite of his age (like ChenXingXu of Goodbye My Princess). I would love to see him in another historical drama like Love Like the Galaxy where there was romance but it wasn't a lot of PDA and had a strong story thread of revenge. This role really did justice to his talents and of course the CP with Zhao Lusi cannot be beat - it was such a great balance of two strong but broken individuals who found love and redemption in each other. I just rewatched it for the 4th time. It's also my favorite drama of Zhao Lusi - although I have high hopes for the Legend of Jewelry.
